Hey everyone. I went to an Arceus pre-release this past Sunday, and I just wanted to share what happened (My deck, the cards I pulled/traded for, and the battles). To preface, the only card I was looking for was Gengar LV X.
So we all got our 6 boosters, and we ripped them open. I got a 2-2-1 Gengar line in my first 3 packs! So I was eagerly anticipating a Gengar LV X pull, but it never happened. In fact, I didn't pull one LV X or Arceus. The only thing I pulled worth anything was a Shiny Bagon. Upset, I began to make my deck. It looked something like this:

I was feeling pretty confident about my deck, especially with the strong Gengar line. The snorunt excited me too, flip two coins and do 20x the number of heads!
So the pairings went up, and I faced a guy named Joe. We sat down and began shuffling. I felt that I had shuffled enough, but I was horribly mistaken. My beginning hand contained a Snorunt, a Helix Fossil, 3 Psychic Energy, 1 Fighting Energy, and Omastar. So I put Snorunt as my active, and Helix Fossil on my bench. The match began, and we flipped. He started with a Pikachu. I drew, another Fighting energy. When was I gonna get a water to search out my Omanyte???? I threw a Psychic energy on my Snorunt, and tried to paralyze his Pikachu, but that failed turn after turn. Eventually he put a Master Belt onto his Pikachu, and evolved it to Raichu. But by that time, I had Omastar built up, with an Old Amber in the discard pile. But he had a Tangela waiting for my Omastar. Omastar didn't last long, and I lost without drawing any prizes.....
The next pairings went up, and I faced a guy with a Heatran/Wingull/Bronzong deck. He started with Heatran, and I started with Snorunt, so it looked good for me. I'm able to do 40 with 2 energy, but Heatran had a x2 weakness to fire, so I could do a whopping 80! I also started with a Gastly on my bench, which really made me happy. He started out by attaching a fire energy to Heatran and ending his turn, because Heatran's first move costs 2 energy. So I threw a water on Snorunt, and paralyzed him. He put a Bronzor on the bench, and started attaching energy to it. I saw this and decided to hold out on killing the heatran until I got Gengar. I drew Haunter, and evolved Gastly. By this time, Snorunt had 2 energy, and Haunter had 2. I was holding his Heatran at 20 HP, paralyzing it every turn. He eventually attached another energy to heatran and killed my Snorunt. So I brought in Haunter to kill his Heatran. When I kiled his Heatran, what prize did I draw? GENGAR!!! So from then on out, it was pretty much over. I was sniping his bench, while getting hit by the puny bronzor, and I eventually won.
In the last round, I went up against a Burmy deck. This went fast, because I started with the entire Gengar family in my hand, along with helix fossil, Omastar, a Water energy, and a Psychic energy. I couldn't ask for a better start. This round was quick and easy, I put out Gastly and used Lick to paralyze him. He threw an energy onto his active Burmy and ended. I evolved to Haunter, and attached an energy to Helix Fossil, and searched out Omanyte. Then ended without attacking. He attacked, and became poisoned. Then I evolved to Gengar and attached a Psychic energy, and sniped his bench to death.
So I ended with a record of 2-1!! Not too bad!
I decided to enter the 2nd flight of the pre-release, for lack of good pulls in the first flight. But there weren't enough people entered, so I just got the packs, the sleeves, and the promo card. I pulled Arceus LV X, Fire Arceus, and Dark Arceus!! Finally some good pulls! I also pulled 3 Charizards, and a few Gengars (Curse).
And in the end, I got some amazing trades for more Gastlys, Haunters, and Gengars (Curse). Along with some AMAZING trades for Gengar LV X and Uxie LV X!!!! So all in all it was a good day. 16 packs, 2 sets of Arceus sleeves, 2 promo Raichus, and GENGAR LV X!!!!
