Default New Player

So I've always loved Pokemon, just never really played the card game. I was in 5th grade when the game was introduced, but I only collected the cards for the cool pictures, not game play. I just recently married, and the wife and I wanted a hobby to do together. Something fast, and easy to finish in a rush, so since I use to play Yu-gi-oh and card games are fun, we decided on Pokemon. We've only played about a month now, and we have bought several starter decks as well as packs. I went online and found a site where I could copy and paste images of the cards we both wanted and then print them out to play-test with. So far the results are good and I wanted to see what you great folks on the forum have to say.

Any advice would be great. Looking for tactics, and possible card changes that a noob such as myself might over-look.

Harsh Waters (I saw a guy name his Gyradose deck )

Pokemon 22
Squirtle (4) PL
Wartortle (3) PL
Blastoise (4) PL

Baltoy (2) GE
Claydol (2) GE

Azelf AL
Uxie (2) AL

Skitty (2) PL
Delcatty (2) PL

Energy 16
Water Energy (16)

Supporters 10
Bebe's Search (3)
Roseanne's Research (3)
Felicity's Drawing (4)

Trainers 9
Luxury Ball
Rare Candy (4)
Pokemon Rescue (2)
Night Maintenace (2)

Stadium 3
Broken Time Space

So I did the layout pretty much like I've seen on other decks. Hope to hear some feedback

Thanks for the comment!

Synergy with cards can be hard to learn when a player first starts out, but having about 6 years of Yu-gi-oh under my belt helps me to notice what cards combo off one-another.

I did notice that most advance players use a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-2-4 line-up when dealing with the main attacker of their deck. The only reason I have the extra Wartortle was for Broken Time Space, since only 4 Rare Candy's can be used. There are a few times when I used Claydol to search out a Rare Candy for my Blastoise, but never got one.

I could drop both the Pokemon Rescue and jump Bebe and Roseanne to 4-4 though. Searching for a pokemon, as I've found, is always a must...

Agreed since there isn't any rare candies in this deck a 4-3-4 line of Blastoise is necessary.

There are 4 copies of Rare Candy. I just didn't want my only source of playing Blastoise on my first turn to be a Squirtle, Blastoise, and a Rare Candy.

With 3 copies of Broken Time Space and a 4-3-4 line-up, I have a better chance of attacking with a Blastoise my first turn.

I've been thinking of running Blastoise as a 3-2-3 line-up, only 1 Uxie, and possibly drop Felicity, Bebe, and Roseanne to 3 copies. Only problem is I'm not sure what else I could add into the deck to make sure it contains it's speed and power.

Anyone have any other ideas or possibly a tech or two that would help?

No point...........in what?

This deck looks really interesting, and yea as you have been told, drawing power is a necessity. Otherwise, the deck is pretty good! The rare candies and broken time spaces are very helpful!

I'd consider a couple warp points and maybe an unown g. I'd probably drop both pokemon rescue and 1 night maintenance for these. You already have delcatty getting energy back and NM can get 3 pokemon back. Keep the blastoise line at 4-3-4. If he is your main attacker you want the line to be consistent. And I don't see a point for azelf here. There isn't any 1 card that you'd absolutely need. You have 2+ all pokemon so it seems pointless.

I could probably do without the Azelf. Unown G seems like a great idea, but I'm not 100% sold on him yet. Dropping the Night Maintenance to only one is good. I do like Warp Point since I use Double Launcher from Blastoise at every chance(thanks for that one Allthesesirens)

So new list is

Pokemon 21
Squirtle (4) PL
Wartortle (3) PL
Blastoise (4) PL

Skitty (2) PL
Delcatty (2) PL

Baltoy (2) GE
Claydol (2) GE

Uxie (2)

Energy 16
Water Energy (16)

Supporters 12
Bebe's Search (4)
Roseanne's Research (4)
Felicity's Drawing (4)

Trainers 8
Luxury Ball
Rare Candy (4)
Night Maintenace
Warp Point (2)

Stadium 3
Broken Time - Space (3)
