Default Need ideas and help

First off, I'm new to these forums (1st post) I've read the rules but It didn't say If you were/not allowed to ask for ideas, help and suggestions for decks from scratch.

I want to start playing at a tourny/leauge and with mates. I've played with mates before, not really seriously though and my decks were, well pretty terrible but because my mates wern't that serious (although two of them want to go to a leage or tournament aswell) I could win but it got pretty boring, with no, well excitement and that's why we have stopped.

I used to think big hitters were the way to go (I think they're good but not a full deck of them) now I believe wins are due to tactics, trainers, supporters, spread damage and also big hitters.

I just need some help, I don't really want to spend any mass amounts of money on Pokemon (just yet) and because with my mates we used old cards aswell, I had old trainers and cards that helped and obviously I can't use them now.

I like Water/Electric, Fighting alone (with some colourless to help), Grass and Psy, Fire alone (with some colourless to help) and have like 3 metal and 5 dark so they aren't really an option.

To set me off, of what I would do If I had no help then I would probably do this:

Oh and because I dont know what card I have (like from what pack, because I don't know all the symbols) I will just say for e.g Weedle.

Psy/Grass:
3x Gulpin
1x Swalot = Psy
1x Swalot = Grass
4x Ralts = Psy
2x Kirlia
1x Kirlia (different damages and stuff)
need 8 more

22x Energy
11x Grass
11x Psy

18x Trainers
4x potion
1x super potion
2x moo moo milk
2x energy search
1x lady outing

and 10 others trainers..

Sorry for such.. well a terrible deck.

Thnx 4ur Help.

probably only needs 15 energies and you should lose all the trainers which heal you and swap them for cards like bebe' search and roseannes research which help you get your pokemon quickly into play. also there are cards like claydol and uxie which are very good at making you draw into all yur better cards. + rare candy lets you skip evoluitons: your pokemon should look like:

3 gardivour secret woders
1 gardivour lv.x
2 galades
3 kirlia
4 ralts
1 dusknoir
1 duskull
+ starter pokemon uxie and claydol (started pokemon are cards which you can use on your first turns to quickly get you evolutions, basics And/or energy)

Yeah, that looks cool, but I don't have these cards, and I can't get them off any site because I don't want to sign up for them unless I want to sell something.

Also what are these evolution lines people talk about. Like 1-1-1-1.
Is that one basic, one stage 1, one stage 2 and a Lv.X?

I'm pretty new to building decks.

Yea, the lines are, as you stated, Basic-Stage 1-Stage-2-LV. X. Yea I hear you about not having the cards, and not being able to get them. Your best bet is to go to a prerelease, if there is one near you. It is a great chance to get a lot of cards, and see other decks. League is also a great place to see decks, and to trade for cards.

But for your deck, you have too many energies. And as Tyranitar said, you should try to get Gardevoir and Gardevoir X. That would really pump your deck up. Good luck!

Oh and here is the link for the new set pre-releases. But they are for the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Yeah, I don't live in America or Japan where Pokemon is quite big and a popular thing.

There are tourneys and leagues here - closest is about an hour away for each, I don't know about pre-releases and since I'm in full time education I don't get much money to just spend a lot on Pokemon I do some stuff around the house for money.

I'm not really that good with tactics and all that sort of stuff because most of the time I don't think about my next turns and I will normally start with a pokemon and let it take damage and build up my evolutions whilst the active pokemon is dying so then I can come in and do some good damage but they have their back up pokemon aswell so..I pretty much lose lol.

Could you tell me what a good deck has? I've already heard speed, more trainers than energies and good evolution lines but that doesn't exactly help. I've got like 8 - 12 different types of trainers that's why I have potions and stupid useless things because I can't use more than 4 of something.

Basically what do I need to do to become better?
Plus for the different types of decks how many (roughly) of each of the cards do I need? Pokemon (best evolution lines I hear are 4-2-4 and 3-2-3 whilst 4-3-2 is good also) and how many trainers, supporters and energies do I need?

Thnx!

rare candy allows you to skip evolution lines so people generally dont use very many stage ones because rare candy renders them useless pretty much so no 4-3-2 is not a good line 4-3-4 or 4-2-4 is better

Yes, 4-3-2 is a very solid line. Rare candies are in high demand, so shoot for 4-3-2 or 3-2-2 or 3-2-1.

nooo you want 4-2-4 or 4-3-4. reason for this being you want consistency throughout your deck. if you have a main attacker why not have a full, healthy line of it? if you cant get rare candies than see what you can do about getting some Broken time-space stadiums. not quite as good as candy, but next best thing.
