Default Ux Spreading Seas/Convincing Mirage Land Control

Oh dear god. I just played the most annoying deck on the planet.

Here's the approximate list.

Lands
4x Scalding Tarn
4x Glacial Fortress
2x Crumbling Necropolis
5x Island
5x Plains
4x Mountain

Creatures
3x Baneslayer Angel
- Sphinx of Jwar Isle might be better. If the opponent has one open plains, that could be it for Baneslayer. Sphinx is pretty much unkillable if they don't have Judgment.

Planeswalkers
4x Ajani Vengeant
- Don't know about 4, perhaps... something else annoying and put him down to 3?
2x Elspeth, the Knight Errant

Enchantments
4x Spreading Seas
4x Convincing Mirage

Spells
4x Demolish
4x Ponder
4x Path to Exile
4x Day of Judgement

Artifacts
3x Scepter of Dominance

Scepter and Ajani keep lands that ARENT islands/not what you need in check, and demolish the others. ARG. ARG. ARG.

.... oh dear god. I was playing with 4 forests, 3 islands, and 1 mountain. Then he gets ajani out and bam, 4 forests and 3 islands. That was the most frustrating deck I played against. Even with 4 hemos, 4 duress, 4 blightning, he still got enough out to stop any wincons from resolving. Even sphinx fell to DoJ. Wow. Thoughts? Rage? Comments?

To keep this in perspective, I was playing Cruel Control. With 4 forrests. ARG.

Summary: You have about 3 turns to get a foothold in, or pack a TON of counter magic (you'll probably run out if you pack it just to beat this rogue deck) before your lands become useless. Have fun!

I did not come up with this deck. Obviously. I found it to be the most frustrating and hilarious deck I've seen in legal play so far.

I like this deck, it is funny and really messes up 3 colored decks.
Pithing needles will wreck this deck (cannot scepter or use planeswalkers). It forces him to waste demolishes on them and letting you have the colored mana you need to win (he cannot enchant every land you play).
Hexmage will take care of ajani / espeth plus a good 2/1 for 2.
Also against this, using fetches only when you need the colored mana or he goes to target the fetch (that should never happen).

Ha, what does that deck do against blue decks?

Against blue decks? Unless it's mono blue, it just screws non-islands.

Huh what if I mix a ramp deck with Iona, Ajani Vegent, lands destruction, and Doj just to improve up why this was annoying. Yeah thats sounds like a pretty annoying deck, just needs an out for RDW and will be all good in this slow format.

LOL
I guess that is where the sideboard would probably play in against RDW.
I assuming the sideboard has at least flashfreeze and swerve.

I didn't notice neither of those cards said in addition to it's other types or you control. LOL! That seems too good... turn two make one of your Savage lands tap for colorless and cantrip? Does it really work like that?

Oh and if it works like that then against blue decks Convincing Mirage names anything other then islands, Planeswalkers are even bigger threats and just a few lands out against control is pretty sick... you'd be in a good position to beat them with Ajani if they are set behind far enough that they can't cantrip with Into the roil and have a negate or something in hand... If this works I give it a A+ for thought.

I'd try green over Red for Acidic Slime... One turn later than Demolish it answers more has body and deathtouch

I could see the board now... Pithing Needle for Boros/RDW decks.... Turn 1 "Name Arid Mesa". Negates might be useful just for the chance to counter Harrow once in your lifetime and point and laugh. Hell if it works like that Lush Growth would be the nuts in the board against decks only playing swamps "Vampires" and Islands.

Oh this deck works, it destroyed everything I threw at it. I didn't play RDW or Boros against it, but hey. I'm sure there is a perfectly good sideboard against it. The funny part? It RUINS Jund and Vampires so badly. That's why I want to play this deck. Just to make vampire and jund players SCREAM WITH RAGE!

Since this deck is cheap as all get out compared to a lot of decks and I have all the cards (except the ajanis) I think I'll give it a shot at FNM just to see how many people I can piss off.

I mean are you sure the cards don't mean in addition to their other land types?
