Martian Menace is a little harder to learn how to play, but they are totally up to snuff. I’ve played Deimos-9 and a full force of Martians and won four of the five tournaments (with other serious players) I’ve competed in. I placed Third once.
All I really know is How to play Deimos-9, but here’s what I got:
Use Saucers and Transported Power pods to secure buildings Turn one.
Send Vanguards in squads of four with at least on Elite. One combined attack = 4 A-Dice + 8 B-Dice.
Lower defense and health values mean you have to keep your Monster Screened at all times. Screening means keeping Units adjacent to you Monster to prevent the opposing Monster from getting close or aligned for Brawl and Power Attacks.
Quote from the Strategy Guide: Make individual Attacks with Hunters to take out Units. Boost them with a nearby Elite or secured Bank Headquarters. This works great.
Run five Nuclear Power Plants in your city. You’re immune to the hazard, get additional Power Dice from the Power Zones you hold, and they can heal you in a pinch.
The Martian Units’ focus on Blast Attacks mean you should run at least one Radar Array in your city.
Run a couple TV Network High-Rises. The Media Hub skill costs your opponent Power Dice and is an Invader-exclusive ability.
If playing Deimos-9, Flex. That means Powering down to Alpha before you end your turn. His low Hyper cost, Siphon, and Lightning Attack abilities mean that he came return to Ultra easily and this will conserve health in your Hyper Form.
