    Default The Other Story...

This story has explicit material, such as certain gory situtations. Reading this fan-fiction will be at own risk. But so far, no one's complained

This thread will both be the recovery thread for The Other Story, and it will also be the one i will post any later chapters on. There is only one slight problem though. I have forgotten which chapter we're at. I've written 10 ( and a half ) chapters, but where did i end?
If someone can answer me this, i will post any lost episode. If no one can remember the exact chapter, a hint to what happened in it would be nice

ps. Here's a link for anyone who's interested in my old Fan-Fiction Rise of the Champion and Power of the Champion

If I'm not mistaken the last chapter you released was right after Shadi revealed the truth to Neri. That he and his father made a deal to erase Neri's memories so that his father can begin to mold him.

Ah yes, that is chapter 6, An Old Era Dawns. I will now post all the 6 episodes that were posted before the crash:

    Chapter I

    A New Era Dawns

‘’ Once, in a long, long time ago, there was a time. A time, which had survived many difficulties. The biggest being of that time, humanity, had suffered great losses too. Not only had they lost countless lives, countless homes, countless irreplaceable items, and countless loved ones.
They had also lost the very thing that has kept humans alive for days without water, weeks without food, months without help, years without company, centuries without peace, and millenniums without progress.
    They had lost hope.

This happened during the aftermath of ‘The It‘. ‘The It’ is something that happened almost exactly 5 millenniums ago. Some theories say 3 millenniums, but they haven’t been proven. But not disproven either. What it was, not one scroll, article, or even stone carving or hieroglyph has been told. Not one living person or item on this earth knows what did happen on the day of ‘The It‘. At least, not one that can tell of it.
It is generally assumed, that ‘The It’ was either of 2 possibilities. Number one, which was the most common, was that there had been some sort of explosion so powerful, that it caused countless humans to die. And maybe also caused a nuclear winter, killing even more.
The second possibility was that some sort of virus started spreading at rapid speed, killing people at light-speed rate. But if this were right, this virus would also have had to cause bone to degenerate at an extreme rate. Some people say that the virus probably spread through air entered the bone, and made it degenerate, making the victims’ body collapse, and at some point, make them crush their own organs, because no skeleton is carrying them. Because this would be the only possibility of there being no traces of them at all.
Well, technically there were 3 possibilities, but one of them was a combination of the two just mentioned. That some sort of nuclear explosion, caused many people to die, and then entered water, or some other common food, and killing the victims. And then, if it wasn’t bad enough as it might’ve been, the nuclear winter got rid of most remaining humans.

Today, scientists have estimated, that humans went from a population around 6 billion humans, to just 3 billion in a matter of a few years. And after that, it dropped to 1 billion, probably because of the theoretical nuclear winter, and then dropped to an astonishing 250.000 humans.
But those calculations weren’t considered that accurate, since not many bodies were found to look at, and test. It was more like an estimation based on some tests, which were only a very small part of the humans that lived back then. The only thing we knew was that humans drastically fell in numbers around 2 times.

Humans back then had built up humanity, and everything we have today. Not only did they suffer great psychological losses, like historical artefacts and paintings. They had just as great physical losses. We lost most of the scientific data. What survived, were mostly some badly damaged books in nuclear storage areas. This had caused a suspicion that maybe people knew that ‘The It’ was going to happen. But some places did survive, unharmed, anything inside being intact.
Or they were just precautious, and apparently for the right reasons.
The result of this, was that humans today are a few millenniums back in schedule, when talking about technological evolution. Actually, a few drawings and pictures survived from ‘The It’. Those that were in good enough shape to be able to somewhat see what was on them, resemble most things in today’s society. So it is said, that humanity today, is exactly as it was before ‘The It’ happened. But, again, there is not proof of this.

And why am I telling you all this? What does it have to do with why you are here? I have frequently been asked these questions, and the answer is, everything. The very reason you are here, is because of all this.
As said, much has been lost, but not that many years ago, around a century ago, a building was found. A great building. What the KC on it stood for, we don’t know, but we do have a suspicion that it has something to do with one of the founders of this game, a man called Seto Kaiba. Mostly believed to be a legend, but that can yet not be proven.
The best guess is that it stands for Kaiba Corporation, or that it’s read wrongly, and is supposed to be CK, which could be an alternative spelling for his name, that being Ceto Kaiba, with a C instead of an S.
What I am saying, is that in this building, scientists have found big stack of documents about a certain game. A game called Magic and Wizards, better known today as Duelmonsters. It was here that we got all the information on this game, which you all are here to study, and to become masters at. And also all the information on every single card in existence. Very few cards are made that aren’t from the original way it was.’’
    A bell rang.
‘’ Ah, I see that class is over. Thank you all for being quiet, and listening. You can all go now. ‘’ Mr. Heimo, our teacher in this class, said. He was a good guy. Polite, and generally a nice guy. You just had to watch out though, not to get into an argument with him on something he liked. That discussion would never end. He was very enthusiastic about everything he put his mind to, one of them being history.
He could use hours on history. Students frequently asked him to consider ending the class, since they had been in class for half an hour too long. Or, all this I head heard of him.

I, Wolfram Raywin Neri, stood up, preparing to leave. This was the first time I had heard this speech. It was a very well known one. Or, so the other duellists said, who had been here more than a year. A long talk about how duel monsters came back to life. I put on my jacket, which I always took of when I studied, or listened to someone teach.
I don’t know why I do that. It’s just something I’m used to. Something I just let the jacket hang on my shoulders. Maybe it’s some image I like, and I’ve subconsciously developed over the years of my life. I put on my Daedalus Blue jacket, and went out of the large, bright class room. Almost formed like a hi-technological dome.
White metal walls, the seats for students elevated, step for step. Somewhat like stair steps with tables on them. And every few meters, some stairs. Heheh, that thought always made me laugh a little. Stairs on stairs.
I was first out, since I had the closest seat to the door. I liked to be able to get out fast for whatever reason it had to be. Either because a boring class was over, or because I got some idea for a something, which I couldn’t let be for a moment too long.
This was one of the first mentioned days. The boring ones. I was out in a matter of seconds.

I walked through the long red-carpeted halls, with white-light brown walls. I am pretty sure that they were of some sort of rock. I walked through several halls, up a stairway or two, back through a few halls, and finally I was at my room. I opened the door to get in.
Now I felt like being at home. Well, almost. It’s as they say: North, South, East, West, Home is always the best.
The walls were black, with blue flames on them. The flames formed many different shapes and items. Some easy to see, some harder to spot. The bed was of dark brown tree, with black sheets. The edges on it were blue.
The desk’s legs were of the same dark brown tree as the bed. The legs supported a glass table, which had a lamp, some books, and a computer on it. It was state of the art. Actually, the whole room was. But still, I didn’t feel completely happy. Those things were all materialistic, and all things that reflected the egoistic nature I had.
I sat down, almost fell, onto the bed. Covered my face in my hands. I hated these times, when I was in these bad moods, and had no homework to work them away with. My thoughts always started straying, thinking about unnecessary stuff. Things that you needn’t know. And things you wanted to forget.

I started thinking about how it was at home.

‘’ Wolfram dear, it’s time for breakfast. And tell your brother to come too. ‘’ My mother said.
‘’ I will, mother. ‘’ I was already up. Had been working on perfectionizing my deck, as I did every time I needed it. I went out into the hall, which had walls of dark tree, and many pictures. All of ancestors. The floor was covered by a red carpet.
I knocked on my brother’s door, lightly. I knew he was up. I think he had some sort of device telling him when I was up, because he always got up just at the same time. After that, I went straight to the kitchen, where a delicious meal was waiting for me.
Me, my parents, and my brother were all at the table. And as usual, dad was reading the stock market. He wasn’t really interested in anything on it. He only wanted to compare his very successful business Firm to those of other’s.
It was the greatest of the Duelmonsters companies, which was the reason he wanted me to be a duellist. He was clearly more enthusiastic about it than me. If it were up to me, I’d be a writer. Or a scientist, and write as a hobby.
But no, the only writing I got to do, was reports about tournaments I won, one at a time.
‘’ So, sons, today is the day you two go the duel academy. I expect only the best of you two. As you two know, losing because you didn’t have the right cards does not count anymore. I have custom made every single card in both of your decks. And if there should come anything new and exciting, send me a mail, and I’ll get you the card you need. And…’’
He could go on like that for hours, when he was at his best. Well, worst really, in my opinion. Only my brother actually listened to him. I had memorized everything he said, and tried to see how accurately I could predict what he said. Sometimes, I was only words beside a perfect match.

We were at the qualification-dome. A great dome-shaped building made just for duelling. One of the buildings that survived ‘The It’. After I registered, I went in. My brother, who was a more active person than me, ran in, and soon got lost somewhere.
I just wanted to get this over, so I could actually get some excitement for once. Duel some people who actually had skill. Since I had been duelling at this almost-pro level, I had not lost a duel. I wanted that to stop right after I beat this proctor. I wanted competition.
I sat down in one of the chairs. This house was formed like a coliseum. Some rings in the middle, where proctors, and possible students, duelled for entry. Around, the seats got higher and high up, until they got to an almost balcony-like form.
I was leaning against the railing, and looked at the duellists. I heard names be called here and there, and people walking in after being called. ‘’ Jógvan…Liv…Chris…Solveig…Johan…Nicolaj…’’ And more came afterwards.
A girl suddenly stood beside me. I tried to get to see how she looked, without turning my head too much. As I would have expected, she looked like a preppy. She was wearing a yellow shirt, with a pink, fluffy vest over it.
Her hair was blonde, and very long. It went all the way down her back, all the way down to…I stopped myself in my thoughts, and looked away again. I hadn’t noticed that I had almost really turned to see her.
You have better things to think about, I said to myself. You have better things to think about, than a girls…Hair! Man, I need to relax a bit.
I took a deep breath. I could hear her giggle. Apparently, she had noticed me.
‘’ Did’ya see anything ya liked? ‘’ She said, happily. I was glad she hadn’t taken it badly.
‘’ Hehe, ’’ I said, and without thinking about it, I lifted my hand to scratch my head. ’’ Maybe. ‘’ I said with a smile. ‘’ Sorry to have been so rude. ‘’ I said, now in a serious voice. ‘’ It shall not happen again. ‘’ Well, one thing I liked that dad had taught me, was discipline. The things you simply don’t do. And I had just broken one of the first rules.
‘’ Don’t think about it, ya? Ya can look all ya like. ‘’ She said, and winked.
Why is she being so friendly? I’ve hardly met her, and she’s already acting like we’re going out together. Why isn’t she the least bit ashamed?
‘’ I’ll keep that in mind. ‘’ I tried to say casually. I could hear a name be called, and she reacted to it.
‘’ Well, gotta’ go. I’ll see ya. ‘’ She started running down the stair, but suddenly stopped. ‘’ Oh wait, I forgot to ask ya for ya name. ‘’
‘’ Don’t worry about that. You’ll find out when my duel will be announced, even if you hear the name or not. ‘’ She heard what I said, but didn’t really seem to understand.
‘’ I will, I guess… ‘’ She said, as she turned and ran down for her duel.
    ‘’ Let’s hope so, ‘’ I said, leaning on the railing again. ‘’ Cecilia… ‘’

    Chapter II

    Entering the New Era

I had sat down on one of the bottom chairs now. I wanted to be able to hear everything happening in the duel, and see it clearly. If this girl, Cecilia, showed to be Duel Academia material, I wanted to be sure that I knew her strategy. Friend or not, I still had to watch out, that she wouldn’t beat me.
And should I have lost her, as a friend, knowing her deck would be essential. If you get to know a person, afterwards, you’re either forgotten, or a friend, or an enemy. In two out of three of the cases, I would need to know her deck. So the odds were telling me to watch.

‘’ Alright, Cecilia o’Doyle, you are now to duel me for entrance to Duel Academia. ’’ The duel proctor said. ’’ If you win, you are given the right to enter, if not, better luck next year. ‘’ He looked on a paper he had in his hand. ‘’ Judging from your results from the written test, it’s hard to judge if you are what we are looking for. ‘’ He was wearing a blue jacket, white pants, and some black glasses.
‘’ Then there’s only one way to find out, ya? ‘’ Cecilia said, wearing confidence like a suit of armour. Easy to see, and hard to look away from.
‘’ Draw your cards, and show me that you mean it! ‘’ Judging from what I observed from the duel proctor, he wasn’t concentrated on the duel. He was more concentrated on making her do her best. Motivate her. I just hoped they would be more serious, when my duel was to begin.
‘’ I will beat ya, ya? ‘’ She drew a card, and both their life point counters showed at 2000.
‘’ Since this is only a duel to observe your skills, our life points are only at 2000. ‘’
‘’ Fine with me. I’ll start by just setting 2 cards. ‘’ She said, as two cards appeared on her back row. How can she let herself do that? Just one single Heavy Storm, Harpie’s Feather Duster, or any other two cards that destroy spells can can cost her the duel, I thought to myself.

‘’ She’s a newbie, isn’t she? ‘’ I heard someone say beside me. I turned to face the person. It was a girl.
‘’ And who might you be? ‘’ I asked her.
‘’ I’m Dominique. Third year duellist. ‘’ She held out her hand, the back of he palm facing me.
‘’ Formal, aren’t we? ‘’ I said, taking her hand, lightly.
‘’ I expect you to be so towards me. I am the top duellist in Duel Academia. I’m normally not this nice towards newcomers, but I like you. You look like a strong duellist. ‘’
‘’ Aren’t I the lucky one? ‘’ I said, not so cheerful anymore. Another snob, just what we needed.
‘’ Look, since I think you look like a good duellist, I’m going easy on you. ‘’
‘’ Are you sure it’s not because my father is Ceeto Neri? Don’t try and make me think you didn’t know. ‘’ I looked back at the duel. ‘’ Besides, I think the girl has possible talent. Let’s make a bet. If she wins, you go over to your friends, to your own world. If she doesn’t win, then I’ll throw my the duel.
‘’ I won’t keep your waiting, rich boy. ‘’ She stood up. ‘’ I was just about to leave. ‘’ Hehe, not up for the challenge, I thought to myself, as I concentrated on the duel again.

The duel proctor drew a card. ‘’ I was hoping for more, you know. Even the least good duellists know to summon a monster on their first turn, no matter what. If just for protection. I will activate A Legendary Ocean, ’’ The field turned into water. ’’ and summon Deepsea Warrior in attack position. And now… ‘’
‘’ Not so fast! I’ll now flip up Solemn Judgement, which lets me pay half of my life points, to negate anything, and destroy it. So ya monster’s gone. ‘’ Just as the proctor’s monster appeared on the field, a fast wind whirled around it, and it disappeared.
‘’ Well, I guess I have underestimated you. I will set a card in face down position, and end my turn. ‘’ The duel proctor said. Cecilia drew a card.
‘’ The duel is now over. I will summon Majestic Mech - Ohka to the field! ‘’ A wolf-like animal appeared on the field. It’s skin was white, with red linings all across it. It had two wings, long white hair, and looked ready to attack.
The Duel Proctor was startled. ‘’ But how can you do that? Ohka is a six-star monster, and requires a tribute to be summoned. ‘’
‘’ Well, this one doesn’t. If I choose to summon it without a tribute, it can stay on the field for only one turn, which is more than enough, ya? ‘’ The monster got ready to attack.
‘’ Well, you may have a strong monster, but you still need to get through my defences. I will activate Embodiment of Apophis, to summon a monster to defend me. ’’
‘’ Sorry to disappoint ya, but I will activate another Solemn Judgement, and destroy your card. ‘’ Once again, as the proctor’s card was stopped, just before activating. ‘’ And now, I will take all ya life points! Ohka, fetch! ‘’ And her monster let out a ball of energy from it’s mouth, and directly into the duel proctor, making his life points fall from 2000 to zero from the time it took the proctor to fall, and until he hit the ground. Just a few seconds.
She ran over to the proctor. ‘’ Are ya’lright? ‘’ She asked. ‘’ I overdid it, huh? ‘’
‘’ Not at all. ‘’ He said, standing up. ‘’ Welcome to Duel Academia. ‘’ He said, and shook her hand. She started jumping in joy, and I heard some girls behind me scream, as she won.
Heheh, she has her own fan club, I said to myself.
In the same moment, I heard my name being called, and I went down to the ring. On the way, I made sure to meet Cecilia on the way.

    ‘’ Hey, good duel. ‘’ I said.
    ‘’ Thanks, ‘’ She replied.
‘’ I’m in ring 3, if you’re interested. ‘’ And with those words, I went to my duel ring. On my way over, I saw that one of the guys who was running this, was holding an eye on me. He was dressed like all the others. Blue jacket and white pants. This one was blonde though, making you see him stand out in the crowd.
I saw that he said something to another person there, still keeping his eyes on me. The person looked like he objected, but he soon gave up, went to some other guys, and two guys came down to the field I was duelling, on, plus the one who was already here.

‘’ Wolfram R. Neri, we are under orders to all duel you. ‘’ WHAT? I said to myself. Three duels? That’s more than most get.
‘’ All three of you? That shouldn’t be so hard. ‘’
‘’ I meant all three at once. ‘’ He replied.
‘’ I did too. ‘’ Their life point counters showed at 2000 each, mine showed at 4000, and I drew a card. If my calculation should be correct, I should get a few of the cards I need on my opening hand. I looked at the hand, seeing 3 of the cards I needed.
‘’ Just as I hoped. I’ll start by a monster, and I’ll end by setting two cards. ‘’
‘’ Keeping it simple? ‘’ The first proctor said, drawing a card. ‘’ I’ll just summon a Marauding captain, and with his effect, I’ll summon Command Knight. ‘’ Two knights appeared on the field. One male, and one female. His monsters’ attack points increased from 1200 to 1600. ‘’ And I’ll set one card, and end my turn. ‘’
A card appeared on his back row, as the second proctor drew his card. ‘’ And I’ll keep it simple too. I’ll summon Marauding Captain, and with his effect, I summon Frontier Wiseman. ‘’ Two monsters appeared on his field. One with 1600 attack points, the other with 2000. ‘’ And I’ll end with that. ‘’
‘’ Then it’s me, ‘’ the third one said. ‘’ And I’ll follow the others’ example, and summon a Marauding Captain, and a command Knight. ‘’ Two monsters appeared on his field, both showing at 2000 attack.
‘’ So, you three summon 2 monsters each, and no one of you can stand up to the monsters I have in my hand. Pathetic. ‘’ I said, not knowing what they had in store.
‘’ I’m no done yet, ‘’ the third proctor said. ‘’ I’ll now activate The A. Forces. This card increases the attack of all Warriors on the field, by the attack of all warriors on the field times 200. ‘’ My heart skipped a beat. The attack points of all the monsters on the field grew to 3200, and Frontier Wiseman‘s attack showed at an astonishing 3600.
‘’ So this is how it feels to be stared down by six monsters stronger than Blue-Eyes White Dragon… ‘’ I said to myself.
‘’ And now, my Marading Captain will destroy your hidden monster, and my Command Knight will attack you directly! ‘’ Both of his monsters ran at me, preparing for an attack. One jumped at my face down Cyber Phoenix, which I thanked myself for not putting in attack mode, and the other came right at me.
The blow from the Command Knight’s sword was tremendous. I was knocked to the floor, and so were my life points, which were now at 800. It didn’t take more than a few seconds before I was back up, though it still hurt. If I were to lose, I wanted to lose like a man, looking my opponent’s in the eye. And if I were to win, I needed to stand up. Both ways requires just the same, so there was no time to sleep yet.
‘’ Strange how the mind somehow thinks that these attacks are real. And turns them into real pain. ‘’ I drew a card. ‘’ Well, that doesn’t matter. To defeat me, you needed to get rid of those last 800 life points right there. And since I’m not going to let you do that, you don’t stand a chance! ‘’
‘’ And why is that? ‘’ One of them asked.
‘’ Because I will now summon a monster none of you can stand a chance against! I’ll first discard King of the Swamp to add 1 Polymerization to my hand. ‘’ A piece of slime fell from my hand onto the ground. It formed a card, which then was put in my hand. ‘’ Then I’ll summon Proto-Cyber Dragon. ‘’
‘’ Is this your plan? To summon a that‘s only half as strong as our mosnters? ‘’
‘’ No, but combining it with the two Cyber Dragons in my hand lets me summon a very strong monster! ‘’ Two Cyber Dragons appeared on the field, and started to meld together with each other, and the Proto-Cyber Dragon..
‘’ NO! ‘’ The three proctors exclaimed in unison. ‘’ CYBER END DRAGON! ‘’
‘’ You wish. I’m summoning something stronger! ‘’ The three dragons formed into a single body with three heads, each with a sphere on it. One white, one black, and one red. ‘’ This is Cyber Triplet Dragon! This monster may not be able to pierce through your monsters’ possible defence, but instead attacks thrice each turn! ‘’
The three proctors were stunned. Each one fearing the worst. My newly summoned dragon collected energy in it’s mouth, and shot a ball of energy at each of the duel proctors, each hitting a Marauding Captain. Their life points counters fell quite a bit, and then showed at 1400, 1200, and 1000.
The first one of them who noticed that all of them were still alive, both literally and metaphorically speaking, said: ‘’ I see that your dragon didn’t have the needed power to get rid of us. And since the Cyber Dragons, and any of their relatives, don’t have any spell or trap immunity, a simply Hammer Shot is enough to take down your dragon! ‘’
‘’ That may very well be, but you won’t survive long enough in this duel to see that happen. I will now activate one of my set cards, De-Fusion! This card allows me to send my Cyber Triplet Dragon to my fusion deck, and returning the monsters I used to fuse it to my field from my graveyard! ‘’ The dragon on the field melted, and the floating metal from it formed two new Cyber Dragons, and one Proto-Cyber Dragon, each still having the coloured sphere it had had before.
‘’ Oh no… ‘’ I heard one of them say.
‘’ That’s what I would say too, if I was in your shoes. And now, my three Cyber Dragons, finish the job! ‘’ The Cyber Dragons attacked one monster each, the Command Knights first, and the Frontier Wiseman last, leaving their life points at 1100, 700, and 300.
The three duel proctors looked at each other, and I could hear them sigh. One of them said: ‘’ We give up. The duel goes to you. ‘’ One of them looked up towards the person who had sent them there, the man running this qualification, who looked very pleased. He stood up, too a microphone, and said:
‘’ Ladies and Duellists, It is not very normal that a duellist does as well as Wolfram R. Neri has done today, ‘’ I looked around, realizing that everyone was looking at me. They had probably been following the duel too. This isn’t good, I didn’t want everyone to look at me, and see my strategies! I said to myself. And that guy in the microphone is making things worse…
‘’ so because of this special occasion, I am going to make an announcement. Wolfram Neri is going to be promoted directly to Daedelus Blue dorm when entering Duel Academy. Congratulations. ‘’ Everyone in the room started screaming and shouting and whistling. I raised my hand, as I left the ring.
I had walked up the stairs, then I heard the announcer say one more thing. ‘’ Maybe Dominique will actually have some competition this year. ‘’ That caught my ear, and I looked around, soon seeing Dominique again She was looking right at me, and then she blinked to me, taunting me.
I walked towards the door heading out.

I heard someone come running from the back. As I turned, I saw it was Cecilia.
    ‘’ So, ya’re Wolfram. I’ve heard of ya. ‘’
‘’ Oh, I thought I was better known than that, because of my father. ‘’
‘’ Well, I’m not the one who’s most up-to-date on this stuff. ‘’ She said. ‘’ Sooooo, where ya headed? ‘’
‘’ Getting ready to head home, and then to the airport tomorrow, and once there, I guess we’ll meet, won’t we? ‘’
‘’ Ya, I guess so. ‘’ She looked at the floor, shy. ‘’ So, uhh, see ya. ‘’ I put out my hand, for her to shake, but she had other plans. She suddenly leaped up on my neck, holding tightly. I was really startled. Didn’t know what to do. I just waited till she let go.
‘’ So, uhh, bye… ‘’ I said, walking away. Again, I heard her friends giggle and whatnot.

Just before I went outside, I could hear that it was quiet. Well, not quiet as in still, but quiet as in no one cheering for me anymore. I guess that the people in there had already forgotten about me. Typical. But then again, ignorance is bliss, and in this case

    Chapter III

    The Old New Ways

‘’ So, son, how did you do in the qualifications? ‘’ My father asked me as I came in. I was trying to be quiet, and not have to hear him once more. He always wanted to make sure, that I was at my best, that I was going to win, and so on. He was also reading the papers, again.
‘’ I‘ve won entrance to Duel Academia. Some difficulties must have occurred, since I, for some reason, had to duel 3 opponents at once. ‘’ I replied to him, hoping that would end the conversation. Just to make sure, I turned to go to my room.
‘’ I see. I assume that you won flawlessly. ‘’ He looked at me, briefly, just over the paper. He looked me deeply into the eyes. Here came a problem. He had always taught me never to lie. It was one of the seven deadly sins. I knew that if I actually told him, that I went down to 800 life points, he would find some way to make me regret it. If I told a lie, he’d find out sooner or later, and burning in damnation didn’t sound that good to me.
‘’ Well, ‘’ Getting away from answering the question would be the best. I looked around the room, fast, to find something that wasn’t all right. I noticed one of the headlines on his paper. ‘’ Wait, look! On the back of the paper! Dice-Duels Inc. is beginning to be as popular as your firm! ‘’
He turned the paper, slowly. I could see he already knew the ‘news’. ‘’ Yes, I have already read the article four times. Too bad though, their strategy for selling those things isn’t as good as ours. I got my men to do some calculations. That chance of them actually getting to my level, in business that is, is just as big as you disappointing me now. ‘’
****, now there was only one choice. Lie, and beg for forgiveness. Wait, wasn’t there some way to answer, without telling him I was close to losing?
‘’ Well, I lost some life points, but nothing big. I gave the loss right back to them. ‘’ Well, in my eyes, 800 life points could make the difference in a duel, as it had that time, but since it was only from one attack, 800 was pretty much. So in a sense, I wasn’t lying.
‘’ Good boy. I knew that you wouldn’t disappoint me. ‘’ He lowered the paper again, and looked straight into my eyes. ‘’ Would you? ‘’ This gaze was all that was needed to break a lot of people in his company, let alone me, his own son. If I didn’t have years of practice against it, I would be begging for mercy by now.
‘’ Of course not, father. I must get ready for the trip. ‘’ My dad wasn’t listening anymore. Just looked in the paper again.

It took me a few hours to get all the cards I needed to take with me; each one printed a way that only were 2 copies of the exact same. One for me, and one for my brother. And it was a suitcase full, so disappointing my dad after getting all these cards specially made, though not by request, wouldn’t lead to good things.
Just when I started, I had to remember all the precise line of types to sort them after: Card type. If monster, then Level, then attack points, then defence points, and finally name. If spells, then spell type, normal first, then quickplay, then equip, then continuous, then field, then ritual, then name. The traps were the quickest. Only type, normal, continuous, counter-trap, then name.
If everything wasn’t in perfect order, I sure wanted that dad didn’t find out. I had experienced that way too often. He could even go as close, as to look at the condition of the card. If two cards were sorted to the exact same place, meaning it being the same card with 2 copies, the one in better condition should come first, and one without a keen eye, could easily miss a small scratch.

My mom had helped me with the clothes. She made sure my dad wasn’t in, because he despised my sense of clothes. If he knew, I wouldn’t get one piece of clothing I had chosen out myself. But my mom wanted me to be happy, and helped me get them in, and then put the clothes my father wanted on top, so he wouldn’t notice.
The last item I put in, was a picture. A Special one. It had my mom on one side, and my dad on the other. If was put on a little machine, that would rotate it. It could actually go so fast, that it looked like both were on the same side, no matter which angle you looked from. As long as it wasn’t from up or down. Though I knew it was only an illusion.
My bother also had one, too bad he still didn’t think of it as an illusion. He saw what he saw. Two people that were married, and he loved. Ignorance is bliss.

‘’ Good luck, my boy. Go and make your father proud. ‘’ My father had driven me to the airport in his limo. As well as my brother. ‘’ I expect the same from both of you. ‘’ He turned to my brother. ‘’ And don’t think that losing to your brother is all right, just because he is older. ‘’ My brother nodded.
‘’ I know. ‘’ He said with a big grin and a bit high voice for his age. He was sixteen after all. I was only one year older, but my father still treated me as senior, and him as junior, and himself as maestro.
‘’ I still don’t understand why you want to go on the plane with all the other students, Wolfram. It’s so…Unclean, so uncivilized. Almost a jungle. ‘’ When you know nothing about it, I said as a response, though not loudly. ‘’ So the least I could let you go with, was first class. ‘’
’’ I think that would be good enough. ’’ I said to my father.
He clapped us on our shoulders. ‘’ Well, off you go. At least your brother is taking our private jet. He’s not as big a free-thinker as you. He knows what is right, and whatnot. ‘’ We said goodbye to each other, and all went our own ways. My father went home, my brother to the private jet, and me on my way to the school plane.

I looked around, enjoying the freedom of having to walk around, and take care of things on my own, without having to mention my fathers name, unless absolute necessary. After getting everything done, and just waiting to enter the plane itself, I got an idea. Something any new duellist would accept.
I found a kid. Well, actually, he was one of the older guys here, but still not an adult. So calling him kid was just fine for me. This would be very easy, since we all were in our school uniform. Any coloured pants, as long as they hadn’t any complex shapes, and the dorm jacket.
‘’ Excuse me, ‘’ I said to him. He turned to face me. He looked like a loner type, and was wearing a yellow jacket. All the better, I guess, I thought. ‘’ How would you like to get on the first-class section of the plane? ‘’ He just looked at me for a moment, then answered:
‘’ Well, I guess that would give me peace from all the other small duellists around here. I think I’ll take you up on that offer. ‘’
‘’ Great. ‘’ I was glad this didn’t take long. I wanted it over as soon as possible.
‘’ But what do you want in return? ‘’ He asked. ‘’ There must be something, since you are giving up first class for second class on a plane. ‘’
‘’ Now that you mention it, there is one thing. You need to sit next to a girl named Cecilia. Judging from her duel in the qualifications, and what I heard the proctor say about her results, she should be a Mirage Yellow duellist, as yourself. ‘’ I gave a small description on her. I caught myself in almost going in too much detail about how far her hair went down her back.
‘’ Got it. My name is Sora, by the way. ‘’ He put out his hand, and I took and shook it.
‘’ Don’t go around telling people, ‘’ I looked around, making sure no one was watching or listening. ‘’ but I’m Wolfram R. Neri. ‘’
‘’ Oh, I understand. I’ll keep it a secret. ‘’ Then we departed from each other.

‘’ I sure hope so. Having people know who I am while on the plane, won’t make the flight enjoyable. ‘’

Finally we started boarding, which felt like just as long time as I had been waiting to get in. When I had gotten on, and the flight had lifted, I got up. I looked around, using a few minutes on finding some stairs leading to Second Class. Also known as the Mirage Yellow floor.
I could find Cecilia right away, to my surprise. I was more surprised to see her talking to Sora, and not looking like they were stopping. After a moment, Sora looked over, and it looked like he suddenly remembered the deal. He said something to her in a hurry, and walked over to me.
We traded jackets, he apologized, and we went to our new seats.

‘’ Welcome back Sor…Wait, ya’re not Sory. ‘’ She took a closer look. ‘’ Hey, ya’re Wolfram! ‘’ Everyone on the entire plane must’ve had heard that, because everyone I could see turned around, and a head or two poked down the stairs.
‘’ Thanks, Cecilia. I was looking forward to a warm welcome. ‘’ I looked at her, a little angry, but seeing her regretting it made me feel good again. She looked cute. Wait, what am I thinking? Cute? I must be dreaming.
That was what I thought back then. Little did I know.
‘’ I’m sorry, it came from her. ‘’ She looked at me, and suddenly a smile lit up on her face. ’’ Hey, in a Mirage Yellow jacket, you look like a Twinkie! ’’ And then she burst out in laughter. I couldn’t believe I had just though she was cute.
‘’ Uhh, thanks? ‘’ I tried to keep a smile on my face, because otherwise, I knew she would use this against me for a long time. Or someone would. If not everyone.
‘’ Ya know what, I should find a name for you. How about just Twinkie? ‘’ She was quiet for a few seconds, which I thought was incredible. ‘’ No, that’s too unoriginal. How about…Bwinkie…Nah…Hey, I know! Do ya know? ‘’
‘’ Uhh, no, please do tell. ‘’ Still trying to stay polite, and smile. Maybe this girl wasn’t as good a friend as I had originally thought. Seemed too hyperactive
‘’ Binki! From now on, I’m gonna’ call ya Binki! It fits you. ‘’ She said with a smile, and tilted her head to the side a little.
‘’ Shouldn’t we just keep it at Wolfram? ‘’ I tried to persuade her to change her mind, but she was as stubborn as a mule. Apparently, when she made up her mind, nothing was stopping her. I said one thing after another, suggestions and whatnot to change her mind, and she said the same thing over and over, and didn’t give up. But alas, I did.
So I just had to hope that many people wouldn’t take it up after her. In the same moment, I heard some girls giggle behind me. I couldn’t hear a word they weres saying, but you didn’t have to be a professor to know what they were giggling about.

Off to good start, wasn’t I?

But after a while, Cecilia and me started talking normally. Well, as normal as she got. I just couldn’t find anything to talk about, so I just let her do all the talking, and I nodded in agreement every now and then.
Every time I tried to bring up a topic, let’s say something like, my dad’s firm, or Dice-Duels inc., or anything in any way important, she’d just somehow say that it had to make a lot of money. Then she would talk about everything she could buy with that money. Shoes, shirts, vests, dresses, watches, cars, villas, hotels, planes. The list when on and on. Strangely enough, it were most thing that my dad did own somewhere in the world.
At last, she started talking about Duel monsters. A language we both spoke.
‘’ So how’d ya get all those rare cards? Must’ve cost a fortune. ‘’
‘’ Actually not. Didn’t cost a penny. My dad owns NC, Neri Corporation. ‘’ She looked puzzled at me. ‘’ You know, the largest Duel monsters cards manufacturer in the whole world? ‘’ Little did that help. I sighed. ‘’ The company built on the ground, where the legendary Seto Kaiba did possibly live. ‘’ Now she woke up.
‘’ OHH! I know now where that is. It’s in Domino City, right? ‘’
‘’ Yeah, the Company is, but we don’t live there. ‘’ And so the conversation went on, until it was time to land. Just before, Sora and me changed jackets again, and all was as normal. Or, so I wanted it to seem to be. All that had happened, was that everyone knew I was there, I had been humiliated, and I had had my name changed. Lucky me.

Everyone rushed out of the plane, and into the great school we were to live at. It was said to be built after ancient plans, with a few things added and improved. The followed blueprints, written by the original designer, also said to be Seto Kaiba.
‘’ So, this is Duel Academia. I don’t really see the big fuss about it. Dad has lots of houses bigger than this. ‘’ I said to myself. ‘’ Guess I should get going in and get the whole speech of the chancellor, which was a five minute walk away.

‘’ Good day, young and promising students. And welcome, to Duel Academia. ‘’ He wasn’t very young, but not exactly old either. He was around the fifties-sixties. White hair. A bit chubby, and was wearing a red jacket. ‘’ I am your school chancellor, Jason Shepard. Some of you might remember the name… ‘’
I head someone behind me. It was a female. A strong and a little Russian accent. ‘’ from the said-to-be first Chancellor of this school. chancellor Sheppard. ‘’
Quickly after, I heard the chancellor say: ‘’ from the said-to-be first Chancellor of this school. chancellor Sheppard. ‘’
Then the girl said, and which the chancellor then mimicked: ‘’ I have studied my family tree, and I am probably related to him somehow. My great-great-great- and a lot more greats - grandfather. ‘’ He continued talking, and I turned to see the girl.
    It was Dominique.
‘’ Happy to see me again, rich boy? Or should I say ‘Binki Boy’ ‘’ all her friend laughed.
‘’ Keep it down in the back. ‘’ Shepard said, followed by a silence.
‘’ It’s a bit impressive how you know his speech. You must be seriously into him, since only after hearing it twice, you know it in and out. ‘’ Now there was true silence. Quieter than before. Only Shepard was talking.
Dominique looked at me, with a burning rage in her eyes. She lifted her arm, and ‘slap’!
Then I had a nice red cheek. She turned around, with a stiff back, and walked out, followed by her friends.

People sure do love me around here, I thought to myself.

    Chapter IV

Tonight’s Last Morning’s Last Morning is the Future’s Breakfast and Supper

So now I was alone in my room for the first time. Thinking back on the days that had passed. From when I heard that the qualifications were held, to now. Strange, how much things could change over a small amount of time, if under the right circumstances.
I could see that outside it had started darkening. Probably while I had been resting.
I suddenly heard a sound from the computer. ‘’ You’ve got Mail. ‘’ It said.
‘’ Who would send me an e-mail at this time? That’s not that common. Unless it’s my… ‘’ It felt like I had swallowed my tongue. ‘’ It’s probably not. ‘’ I looked at the watch. ‘’ He has a board meeting in just a few minutes. He couldn’t have the time. ‘’ Then a thought struck me. ‘’ Except for in the limo, on the way there… ‘’
    I sighed.
‘’ I might as well get this over with. ‘’ I thought to myself. I walked over, and looked at the screen. Clicked on a few buttons. That it actually was form may father, would have surprised me a minute ago. That he had the time, was a surprise though. But most surprising was what was written in it:

‘’ Dear son, Wolfgang R. Neri.
I have been informed that you, in just the last 24 hours, have interacted with a female, one of lower rank than you on top of that, have been disrespectful, and have lied to me. I know that you had only 800 life points during the qualification.
That is a direct insult on my intelligence, as you think I did not teach you better. And this girl, Cecilia o’Doyle, what a despicable name, from the Mirage Dorm shall no longer have contact with you. You deserve better, and I’ll make sure that stays so.
But the worst is yet to come. You have been highly disrespectful towards the honoured Dominique Wronski, third year duellist and the best in the school. She has demanded an apology, and I expect you to give her one.
As punishment, I demand you to rid yourself of your Cyber Triplet Dragon. I hope that you understand that this is for your own good. You have acted un-disciplinary, and that must be punished. If not done, I will see to it that you will not set foot in my house ever again. And I will make sure it is not your home anymore.
If you think that it’ll be a simple ban, you are mistaken. I can do more than so, and you know it.

Your Loving Father, Ceeto Neri ‘’

I was stunned. How the…How could he know all this? The qualification thing, maybe. Since I had made so much of it, it could’ve come to his ears. And that about Dominique, someone like her would never confront me directly, so my father was the first possible stop.
But how could he know of Cecilia?

I looked at my deck, which lay on the table. Hesitantly, I took it up, and looked through it. I found one fusion monster card. A beast with attack just 200 attack points below it’s big brother, Cyber End Dragon, but a far more devastating effect. That effect of attacking thrice.
The Cyber Triplet Dragon. My father had given this card to me a long time ago. When he officially though my training was over, and I seriously started duelling, without losing. Ever. Well, except against my father. But then again, why would he tell me his last secrets to win the duel with.
I held the card in each end between the thumb and the index finger on each hand. I pulled with all my might, but I just didn’t feel my hands move. It felt like the card was of some metal which was as flexible as paper, but couldn’t move and inch when you wanted to rip it apart.
Then I noticed it was psychologically impossible for me to rip apart this card. I had to do something, and fast. Since I didn’t know how my father kept an eye on me, but I knew he was. Since everything he knew about this had happened outside of my room, I knew it was safe there, for the moment.
I looked around, and I saw a crack in the lower inner corner, just beneath the bed. How I saw that, is still a mystery to me. I guess that when you know something bad is about to happen, your senses sharpen, and so did my eyes.
I pulled out the bed. I widened the crack somehow. I don’t really know how at the moment. It was going so fast, and the adrenaline was running. All I know, is that I somehow got it in there, and a little end of the card stuck out. It blended with the wall, but if you really looked, you’d see it. But you’d also have to know about it, for that to happen. Or be extremely lucky, and if I was close by, unlucky.
I went outside. I needed to calm my nerves. I walked hurriedly towards the first set of stairs, and walked down. After that, I walked a bit faster to the next one, and basically jump down each of the steps. Then I literally ran, as fast as I could, until I reached the third, and last, set of stairs. The second I touched the first step, I felt that I was falling over forwards.
Head first, I touched the ground. I fell unconscious instantaneously. Only thing I could see at this moment, was the darkness, and what was hidden in it. First I could see my father’s e-mail. Then Dominique being angry at me. The moment I was being hit by her. Next, I saw Cecilia on the plane. Then I saw Sora and me changing our jackets.
And lastly, I saw Cecilia again. This was during the qualification for this school. I could see our depart, her duel, and lastly, our first meeting. I could hear her words for me:
    ‘’ Did’ya see anything ya liked? ‘’
‘’ Hehe, Maybe. Sorry to have been so rude. It shall not happen again. ‘’ Was my reply then.
‘’ Don’t think about it, ya? Ya can look all ya like. ‘’ And then, she had blinked.

After that, it was all black. Total black. I could not see anyone of them, only myself, in the darkness. I was falling. Falling. Falling into the nothingness, deeper and deeper. I fell for an eternity, until I heard a voice. One I had heard many thousand times. One I had grown to hate.

‘’ Son! Son! Are you alright? Wolfram, please wake up! ‘’ I could feel a grip on my left hand, It was being shuck. I didn’t need to open my eyes to know it was my father holding it. But still, I opened my eyes to see him.
‘’ Father? Is that you? ‘’ I was dying, and I still knew that I had to act, and make him think I cared for him. Wait, why did I do that? I couldn’t remember, but something in me said that there was no doubt about me having to do it.
We had a long talk. My father told me, that I had been in an accident. I had fallen, and hit my head. I had been found just outside the door to Duel Academia. I could remember that I had won entry to the school, and that I had flown over by plane, in first class.
I remembered not talking to anyone, and looking at my deck, fixing it, and using all my time on that. Every single minute.
My father also told me everything else I had forgotten, and needed to know. Soon after he left, I noticed my brother standing by the door. The door of a, seeming to be, hospital room. I was guessing the emergency room in this school I was supposed to be in.

I felt fine, making me wonder how long I had been here. Judging from my father’s hard reaction, I guessed very short time. If long, then my father would have been more calm. He had probably just come in, and had woken me with his words right away.
No matter where in the world he had been before, he could be here within 12 hours, so I guessed I had been here less than then night out. When I looked out a window that was to my right, I could see the sun coming up.

‘’ Guess it’s time for class. ‘’ I tried to get up. Took a few minutes, but I did get up. ‘’ No sense in waiting here. I would rather sleep in class, than sleep here. And there I’ll hear something before going to sleep. ‘’ As I got on my feet, I felt that my head hurt. ‘’ But I’ll need to take it easy though. ‘’ When I felt it with my hand, I could feel bandages.
‘’ Guess it was a serious fall, so I need to be seriously careful. ‘’ I said.

I was already dressed. Black pants with dark blue flames on the right side, and a blue jacket. My hair was a bit messed up though. My hair went half way down my neck, and it was black. But, if the light shone on it, you could see a blue lining across it. But, since a part of the bandages covered my hair, covering the top right side of my head, the hair was pressed down there. Maybe I could say it was a new style I was trying out, or something.
It wasn’t combed, so I’d have to live with that during the next lecture. After it was done, I could run to my room, which I remembered was on the third floor, 26th room on the left side of the right wing. Strange how I could remember things so well, after hitting my head like that.

As I got out of the room, I could feel the air being different. More clean. Maybe I had been in there for a while, ad the air had gotten hot, and whatnot, because of me. So I had been in there a definite few hours.
A bell rang. A lot of kids came out of their rooms, most came running, others took it easy, and walked. I joined those people. No need to rush, and the bandages on my head would probably tell the teacer that being a little late wouldn’t hurt today.

Half way over, I could hear someone shout behind me. ‘’ Binki! ‘’ Binki? Where had I heard this name before? I turned around, and saw some girl run, with one of her arms in the air. ‘’ Wait for me! ‘’ I did. Not because I wanted, but because I was curious about who this girl was.
‘’ Hey, where you been all night, and morning, huh? ‘’ I saw she was in a yellow jacket.
‘’ None of your business., ‘’ I said coldly. ‘’ and isn’t that a Mirage Yellow jacket? ‘’
‘’ Uhh, yes. You already know I’m a Mirage Yellow student, Binki. ‘’
‘’ Don’t call me Binki. I don’t know where you have that from, But my name, is Wolfram. Get used to it. And I suggest you hurry, otherwise you’ll be late for class. ‘’ She turned around, and ran, a bit slowly, kept watching back and forth.
The morning classes, and the evening classes were held individually in each form. In the middle of the school day, we were taught together in all the common classes.
Those classes that were each on their own, were the duel classes. Each separated into dorms, which were a symbol of skill. My thoughts drifted back to the girl. Who was she? She seemed a little familiar. But why would I know a Mirage Yellow duellist? She was below my rank.
Maybe I’d seen her on the plane. But there had been a floor between us, so I’d have had to gone downstairs, or she had come upstairs. But since that was impossible, only the first option could be. And since I didn’t remember that that happened, it must’ve been somewhere else.
Maybe in the qualifications. But then again, there had been so many people, that remembering her out of all those, without at least remembering that she had at least killed the proctor in one attack, or something like it, could it be a possibility.

I finally got to class, a minute late. The teacher, Mister Jordan L. Grant, looked at me, and as I suspected, the bandages said everything. So I just sat down, and listened to him, talking about the importance of water, and how water and the Duelmonsters card game worked perfectly together.

‘’ As we know, wave can both be destructive, and calm. Being a barrier, which no one could cross, except the fish, and it could just crush anyone with it’s waves, each weighing thousands of tons. Just like that, the Water deck can be both built defensively, and offensively.
Let me use an example. ‘’ He looked around the class. ‘’ You, ‘’ He said, pointing at a student. ‘’ What is your name? ‘’
The chosen student stood up. ‘’ It is Magin, sir. ‘’
‘’ Magin, can you name me the best monster with the Water attribute. ‘’
‘’ I would say that Gogiga Gagagigo is the strongest Water attributed monster, because of it’s incredibly high attack strength, almost matching that of the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon. ‘’
‘’ Please sit down again, Magin. ‘’ And so he did.
‘’ What he said can be true. Gogiga Gagagigo, ‘’ Some students giggled at him pronouncing the name. ‘’ has a notable 2950 attack points, just 50 below the mentioned Blue-Eyes White Dragon. But, his weakness is that he had no effect. The monster with 50 less attack points, known as Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus, which this dorm by the way is named after, has an effect that lets you send Umi from the field to the graveyard, and destroy everything else. This two card combo guarantees you 2600 damage to the opponent, plus him not being able to do anything, since his field is empty. ‘’
He looked around again. ‘’ You, ‘’ He pointed at another student, who stood up as he said it. ‘’ Name me one other powerful Water attributed card, which shares the same strength over Gogiga Gagagigo that Neo-Daedalus does. ‘’
The kid thought for a few seconds, then said: ‘’ Water Dragon has 2800 attack points, just 100 below Neo-Daedalus, and has an effect to make all Fire and Pyro monster on the field lose their entire attack points. Very powerful when combined with a card like Scroll of Bewitchment, because it reduces an opponent’s monster’s attack points to zero, making Water Dragon both destroy it and deal major damage to the opponent. A combo that could possibly bring down even the mythical Legendary Egyptian God cards, wielded by Yugi Muto. ‘’
I started laughing. Not loud, but enough for Jordan to hear it. ‘’ Might I propose that you share what is so funny about this? ‘’ He asked.
I stood up. ‘’ First off, my name is Wolfram R. Neri. Secondly, he forgot to mention his name. Thirdly, you are all looking at the monster powerful monsters, which are near impossible to get on the field. Both Gogiga Gagagigo and Neo-Daedalus require 2 tributes, with or without A Legendary Ocean. I’m not even going in details about Water Dragon’s summon.
What you should be looking at, is Levia Dragon - Daedalus, Neo-Daedalus’ little brother. A Legendary Ocean brings his level down to 6, making him a 1 tribute 2200 attacker, and by sending A Legendary Ocean to the graveyard, which is treated as Umi, your opponent loses his field, and you get a direct attack with a power of 2600. ‘’
‘’ Very good, Wolfram. I am glad to see that some students looks what’s below the water level too. As he stated, Levia Dragon… ‘’ And he went on and on, repeating what I said. I sat down again, and did my best to listen.
But again, my thoughts kept wandering around, mostly in the direction of what happened last night. Who was that girl? How did I get hurt? And why does this ‘Binki’ remind me of myself?

    Chapter V

    Finding Out About Yesterday Tomorrow

I hadn’t slept much that night. I had been thinking about what had happened the night before. All I remembered, was that I had had a quiet trip over here. That I had been sitting in a comfortable seat in the first class section, looking through my deck.
I didn’t remember talking to anyone, or meeting anyone. Especially not a girl. Why would I be talking to a girl? I would have no business with any girl. And I think I would remember it if I went to a place as degrading as ‘2nd class’. The thought had made me shiver.
What was this ‘Binki’ thing? Though I had never heard it before, I still felt like it had something to do with me. Something important somehow.
Well, now that I had class, at least I could get my mind on school, and off other stuff.

‘’ Wolfram, are you listening? ‘’ I heard that teacher say. I was really startled, and almost jumped up.
‘’ I apologize, Mister Grant. It shall not happen again. ‘’ I could hear the students laughing.
‘’ Calm down, Wolfram. You are forgiven. I just thought that after what you said yesterday morning, about how some weaker monsters are better than the stronger ones because of them being easier to summon, that I would try and keep your concentration here. I see great potential in you. ‘’
‘’ Thank you, Mister Grant. ‘’ I said, sitting down. Some students in the class were still giggling a little, but those were only the ones who didn’t realize what the teacher had just said. That he had directly said that I was better than most in the class.
The class today was about how weaker monsters could be better than stronger ones. And he tried to concentrate on the monsters we had talked about yesterday, Gogiga Gagagigo, Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo Daedalus, and Levia Dragon - Daedalus.
    Basically, a mimic of yesterday…

After the class was done, the teacher said:
‘’ Students of Daedalus Blue, every year, here at the school, we have all the students in Daedalus Blue duel a Mirage Yellow duellist. This is to test if you all just were truly good at the qualifications, or just lucky. ‘’ This really caught my attention.
‘’ Usually, a few students lose the duel, and are degraded. We are not pleased by this, and lately, too many have been degraded. Last year, half the class lost. ’’ Then he said, a bit absently. ’’ Good duellists aren’t what they used to be. ‘’
Then his concentration was back. ‘’ Well, this year, to make sure you all do your best, and prepare yourselves properly for the duel, there will be bigger consequences. This year, not only will you be degraded to Mirage Yellow, you will also be degraded to Phoenix Red. ‘’ A gasp went through the entire class. Then all the students started whispering about how humiliating it would be to lose.
‘’ All your opponents have already been chosen. ‘’ Another gasp, and they were already discussing who they might be duelling, and didn’t hope for the best Mirage Duellists. He started reading up the names of the students, and who they were duelling.
I was just waiting for my name being called up. ‘’ Wolfram R. Neri, you will be duelling Cecilia o’Doyle. ‘’ Where did I know this name from? I had heard it somewhere?
‘’ You are dismissed. ‘’ The teacher said. Everyone stood up, except me. I was sitting down a moment longer. I just couldn’t figure out who this ‘Cecilia’ was. I thought of everyone I knew, which I could remember surprisingly well, but just couldn’t find out how she and I were connected.
‘’ Wolfram, are you alright? ‘’ The teacher asked, as he walked past me.
I was startled by him. ‘’ Oh, no. Everything’s alright. I was just going. ‘’ I said, and got up. ‘’ Need to get ready for the duel. By the way, when will it be held? ‘’ I turned as I asked, but the teacher was already gone.
What…Where did he go? I asked myself. How am I going to know when to go to the duels, if I’m not told by him? I’ll have to ask around.

I ran from student to student, didn’t get one answer. Well, not one that I wanted. I just went to my room. Was just going to prepare the deck, and hope the best. The moment I went into my room, someone came in with me.
    ‘’ Wolfram? ‘’
‘’ Yeah, that’s me. ‘’ I could see that it was an adult.
‘’ I am Heimo Daltoy, Dorm Teacher for Mirage Yellow. I am here to follow you to your duel against Cecilia o’Doyle. ‘’ He tried to sound serious, but I could see the smile on his face.
‘’ Oh, I see. Let me just fetch my deck. It’s right he… ‘’ I looked at the table, but It wasn’t there. I was sure I had left it there. I always left it on the table. Then I remembered that I had put it in my pocket, something I didn’t do often, but planned on doing while being here. ‘’ Alright, I’m ready. Let us go. ‘’
We both walked over to the duel area. It was in the main building, so again it was down the three stairways. Out the door, and into the main building. On the way, I saw a lot of duellists from both red and yellow dorm.
They were all duelling, but only others from same dorm. I could see monsters like Needle Worm and Penguin Soldier. Rare cards to see, when at my level. We went into the main duelling hall, where I could see that 3 other duels were progressing, and one duellist was waiting.
We met, shuck hands, and got into our positions.
‘’ So, you are Cecilia. Now I know where I heard that name from. You must’ve said it when you ran into me yesterday. ‘’ I said to her.
‘’ Um, that isn’t true, ya? I didn’t say my name. Was too stunned that ya didn’t remember me, that I just went. ‘’ She answered.
‘’ Well, then I don’t know. Must’ve just thought I knew it. I was probably just wrong. ‘’
‘’ You two don’t have time to talk. ‘’ Heimo said. ‘’ Start the duel immediately. ‘’
‘’ We will, ‘’ she said, drawing her cards. So did I. She smiled. ‘’ Maybe this will freshen up ya memory. ‘’ She set 2 cards. ‘’ And now I’ll summon Majestic Mech - Ohka. ‘’
‘’ If you normal summon that monster like that, you’ll lose it before it’ll do you any good. ‘’
‘’ If ya think so, then I’ll prove you wrong. Now, make your move. ‘’ Her monster disappeared from the field, and I drew a card.
‘’ Alright, if you want me to. I’ll summon Cyber Phoenix in attack mode. ‘’ A mechanical bird appeared on the field. ‘’ Now, even if you have a trap there to destroy my little bird, it won’t help you, because this bird makes all my machines, including itself, immune to effects! ‘’ My monster formed itself like a projectile, and flew at an incredible speed at Cecilia.
‘’ You think so? I’ll flip up one of my hidden cards, Battle Cry ‘’ Her Majestic Mech - Ohka suddenly appeared on the field, blocking my attack, and destroying my monster. My life points fell to 6800. ‘’ This card lets me summon a monster from my graveyard and have ya attacking monster attack it instead, when ya were to attack me. So, now my monster stopped ya attack, and let me attack ya directly next turn. ‘’
‘’ Don’t think so, because now, since you have a monster on the field, something you didn’t have earlier this turn, I get to special summon a Cyber Dragon to the field. ‘’
‘’ But it still isn’t strong enough to destroy my monster! ‘’ She said.
‘’ Maybe so, but I’m not going to let you take 2400 life points away from me. ‘’
‘’ Maybe not. I will take more, by summoning a monster next turn, and then attacking directly! Then ya monster won’t have helped much! ‘’
‘’ If you say so. ‘’ I said, looking directly into her eyes.
‘’ And so I do! ‘’ She drew a card. ‘’ And that monster just so happens to be Sky Saint Meltius! ‘’ And angel came down through a bright light, that appeared on the field. A great ring was floating around her red armour, which was covering white clothing made of silk feathers.
‘’ Now, Ohka, destroy his cyber dragon! ‘’ Her Ohka attacked my Cyber Dragon, bit it in the neck, and as it disappeared, my life point counter fell to 6500. ‘’ And now, Meltius, attack him directly! ’’ Her other monster made the ring around her rise into the sky, and dive at me, hitting me, and making my life points again drop, this time to 4900.
‘’ Ugh, that was a hard hit. ‘’
‘’ Not as hard a hit, as when ya forgot about me! ‘’
‘’ I’ve never heard of you! Why can’t you understand that? ‘’
    ‘’ Because it isn’t true! ‘’
I drew a card. ‘’ It’s as true, as me summoning another Cyber Dragon! ‘’ Another mechanical snake appeared on the field.
‘’ Don’t ya know that doing the same thing twice doesn’t make it work? ‘’
‘’ I know, that’s why I’ll increase it’s power, and kill both your monsters this turn! I’ll do that with The Light - Hex Sealed Fusion! ‘’ Cyber Dragon was engulfed in light. You could see the form change. Another head was growing out, and the body grew a little.
‘’ Wow, I didn’t see that one coming. Too bad it won’t help ya at all, because now, before it is done with it’s summoning, I’ll activate Solemn Judgement! ‘’ The light engulfing my monster disappeared, and so did the monster with it.
‘’ So, I guess I’ll just have to do something greater than before. First, I’ll activate Overload Fusion. It lets me remove machine type monsters from the graveyard to fuse a Dark Machine. Then one I’m having my eyes on, is Chimeratech Overdragon! ‘’
Pieces of scrap metal from the two Cyber Dragons in my graveyard appeared on the field, and combined into a small black dragon, with 2 heads appeared on the field. It’s attack showed at 1600.
‘’ How is that small thing going to do anything? ‘’ Cecilia asked.
‘’ It isn’t. As deceiving as memory can be, any monster can be when combined with Metamorphosis. ‘’ I held out the card I had just mentioned, and a light appeared from it, and covered my monster. It started shining, like my Cyber Dragon had done before. It grew in size, into a giant kangaroo.
‘’ That’s pretty big. But what can it do? ‘’ Cecilia asked.
‘’ Nothing. Master of Oz only has a few attack points. Enough to crush your Ohka, and deal 1800 points of damage to you! ‘’ My Master of Oz drew back his hand, and made an uppercut into her Ohka, smashing it to bits and making her life points fall to 3200.
‘’ And next turn, I’ll take down your Meltius! ‘’ I said. ‘’ Hey, aren’t your life points supposed to be a thousand less? ‘’
‘’ No, because sometimes, things happen that are unexpected, and ya forget to look at the details! ‘’ She was almost shouting now of anger. I hadn’t noticed that she hadn’t just been commenting during the duel. She had actually been quarrelling. A quarrel I didn’t know I was in. ‘’ Meltius increases my life points by 1000 when a Counter Trap is activated. ‘’
‘’ I see. Guess the healing process has begun. ‘’ I saw that she was red of anger now.
‘’ STOP ACTING LIKE YA DON’T KNOW ME! ‘’ She was furious.
‘’ I would if I could. Only thing I know about you, is your temper. ‘’
‘’ I’ll set a card… ‘’ She said. Her temper had turned to sadness.
    ‘’ Nothing more? ‘’
    ‘’ Nope… ‘’
    ‘’ Well, then I’ll just draw a card. ‘’ I drew a card. ‘’ And I’ll summon Proto-Cyber Dragon. And… ‘’
‘’ That’s not something I’ll let ya keep! I’ll activate Forced Back, and make ya take it back. ‘’ I took back my monster.
‘’ That won’t help much, since good things stay. Just like with memories. ‘’
She looked right into my eyes. ‘’ Well, then I’ll just destroy ya dreams! Because I activated a trap, I can special summon a powerful monster from my hand by tributing every monster on my side of the field. ‘’ Her Sky Knight Meltius disappeared from the field, just to be replaced by a giant man-like machine, with purple plates and a sceptre. It was called Voltanis the Adjudicator.
‘’ How is that going to help? It’s still just almost 3 fifths as strong as my monster. Not enough. ‘’
‘’ That’s where it’s effect strikes in. For every monster I tributed, I can destroy a monster on your side of the field. So, since you said that it was ‘only a monster with a few attack points’, it won’t survive this! ‘’ Her Voltanis raised his staff, and a bolt of lightning hit my Master of Oz.
    ‘’ I’ll end my turn by setting a card. ‘’ I said.
‘’ And I’ll not do much. I’ll just summon Shining Angel, and then attack you with both of my monsters. ‘’ She said, with no enthusiasm in her voice. Her Voltanis lifted his sceptre once again, and a bolt of lightning struck me, and the next second her angel attacked me directly too. My life points fell to 600.
‘’ Ugh! ‘’ I sad, as her monsters hit. ‘’ I guess I’ve been keeping this card in my hand for too long, and letting you get off with too much. ‘’ She didn’t even look at me as I said it. ‘’ But first, I’ll activate my set Return From the Different Dimension, getting back my two Cyber Dragons, used to summon my Chimeratech Overdragon earlier! ‘’ Two Cyber Dragons appeared on my field.
‘’ And now, I will activate Power Bond, fusing my two Cyber Dragons to summon the monster you stopped me from summoning last time. Cyber Twin Dragon, enter! ‘’ The two cyber dragons fell apart, and then the scrap metal from the two combined, forming a two-headed Cyber Dragon.
    She still didn’t look up.
‘’ And because I used Power Bond, my Cyber Twin Dragon’s attack is doubled to 5600 And now I will make my Cyber Twin Dragon… ‘’ She still didn’t follow in the duel.
‘’ I will not continue this if my opponent won’t be part of the duel. Otherwise, it won’t feel like I beat anyone. ‘’ I said, facing Heimo, who had been following the entire duel.
‘’ Eh, ‘’ He wasn’t ready for this question. ‘’ I guess that’s only fair. Cecilia. ‘’ He said, facing her.
She looked up, with an empty look. This still wasn’t good enough, but I couldn’t afford to lose.
‘’ Wolfram, make your move, or I’ll have to force your forfeit. ‘’ Heimo said.
This was it. Logic, or intelligence. Logic said I should throw the duel for her, but intelligence said that I needed this win. I couldn’t afford to go to Phoenix Red.
‘’ This is your last warning, Wolfram. ‘’
What to do? WHAT TO DO? This thought was jumping around my mind.
‘’ Cyber Twin Dragon… ‘’ What to say next? ‘’ A…A… ‘’ Wait, there’s no telling what my father will do if I lose this. ‘’ Attack both of my opponent’s monsters. ‘’ And so it did. With 2 bolts of energy shot from my monsters’ mouths, it finished the duel. The field disappeared, and the duel ended.
Neither of us was a winner in this duel. We both went out. I tried to apologize on the way out, but she didn’t hear me.
What a nice start. Of all the Mirage Yellows I could meet, I had to meet the one who thinks she knows me, but I never remember seeing.

After a long walk, I had gotten back to my room. It was nice that today’s classes had been canceled because of these duels, so I had a bit of time for myself.
Why did this girl keep thinking that I knew her? Or that she knew me? I had not once met her before I had seen her the morning before.
Wait a second. I had hit my head, and forgotten a lot. What if she was part of what I forgot?

    Chapter VI

    An Old Era Dawns

Why did this girl keep thinking that I knew her? Or that she knew me? I had not once meet her before I had seen her the morning before.
Wait a second. I had hit my head, and forgotten a lot. What if she was part of what I forgot?

    This thought stunned me.
‘’ Of course, that’s it. When I fell, and hit my head, I must’ve forgotten about her. ‘’ I felt, with my hands, on the back of my head, and I could feel a bit of pain whilst doing it. ‘’ It’s not grown fully together yet, so I guess I can prove to her that I am not lying. ‘’
I had immediately thought of finding her, and then telling her what I had just thought of, but alas, a new thought struck me.
First off, why would she let me in her room to talk with her? And why would she listen? And at worst, why would she want to believe me? Her resentment against me could very well make her immune to anything I said. Especially about the truth, in this case
No, I needed to prove to her, what I had realized.
‘’ Wait a second. How do I know that this happened? It may very well be that it didn’t, and that I’m just looking for an alternate reality. One that explains her knowing me. ‘’
I needed proof. I needed someone to confirm any part of this. And it would be easier finding it outside, than inside my room. So I went outside.

I walked slowly, as I was thinking about everything. All the things that had happened today, and tried to remember what happened yesterday. I had no idea how bad it felt, just to have missed one single day of my life. In my life, I had lived some thousand days, but why had I forgotten that one important day?
I went down the first stairway. I suddenly felt an urge to run. I didn’t actually run, but I did quicken up. I got to the second stairway, and quickly went down it. I now ran towards the third on. Once I reached it, I just stopped. I looked around, while walking down it.
It was now I noticed that the floor here was wet. Something very unusual in a house as fine as this one. It felt like I had been here recently. Not for just a second, but longer. Something had happened. At first, I thought that I could’ve fallen here, but father said that I was found just outside the door to this building.
I had realized that someone was lying. That was obvious. Either it was this Cecilia, or my father. Not knowing how Cecilia was as a person, I couldn’t say if she was the one lying. Knowing my father, I wouldn’t question his ability to have lied here. I just couldn’t find a reason.

I walked on the slightly wet floor, and looked around.
What was I looking for? I didn’t know. I just knew that I needed to find something. Anything to prove what had happened yesterday. I could just feel that my father had something to do in this. Strangely, I didn’t feel so because of him. I felt it because of her.
I could see something red behind the railing, on the outer side of the stairway. Well, it was dark red, but still red. I took a closer look, and confirmed my suspicion. It was blood. Not that dry, meaning this wasn’t something that happened a long time ago, and had simply been overseen.
But this still wasn’t enough for me. A bloodstain didn’t exactly speak. Maybe it did tell the truth, that I couldn‘t have been found outside, but here, but if you don’t know the full question, the answer won’t help you much. I went back into my room. I had found proof enough outside. Well, technically, I was still inside, but that was outside enough for me.

Once I got back to my bed, and sat down right back where I started, I felt like I was back in square one. I may have gotten one answer, but also another question. Why would my father take such a risk, and do something that would only have a chance of getting the results he wanted. In this case, having me forget exactly yesterday.
And now that I think of it, having a slow working brain would make it easier for him to make me into what he wanted. And, because of me getting all down to 800 in the qualifications, he might’ve wanted me to have a ‘personality fix’.
Even if this were a possibility, I still didn’t see how my father would benefit from it.
All these thoughts, ideas, theories, everything was driving me nuts. I just couldn’t find an answer. It was like looking for the Y, while knowing the X in maths.
‘’ WHY?! ‘’ I just shouted, into the air.
‘’ Because you are the chosen one… ‘’ And then my blood went cold, my heart skipped a beat or two, and my hair turned upwards.

I jumped up and turned around to the face of a man. How had he gotten in? And more importantly, how could he have been behind me, when there had been no space? I was trying to ask who he was, but the words simply didn’t come out of my mouth.
‘’ I did not come here to harm you, young duellist, so rest assured that I will not inflict pain upon you. Unnecessarily ‘’ This man said. As I studied his appearance, I saw that he wasn’t wearing anything that was worn anywhere in this time. He was wearing a white turban upon his head, and a white piece of cloth upon his shoulders, which covered a yellowish-greyish coloured robe. This part of his clothing was one single part of cloth, with sleeves for his arms, but simply hung down over his legs.
‘’ I know you have questions, but they have not time to be answered. ‘’ I now noticed that something was hanging from his neck. A golden artefact I had read of. It was a crossing between an Old Egyptian Ankh, and a key.
    ‘’ Who… Who are you? ‘’ I asked, shaking.
‘’ That is one question I will answer you, if you are worthy of your own destiny. ‘’ He was talking in a soothing and calming, yet a bit scary voice.
    ‘’ What are you saying… ‘’
‘’ Wolfram Raywin Neri, a great thing is about to happen. This loss of your memory was but a test. A test to see how far you would want to go to find out the truth. I see you passing the test, since you are willing to accept your own father as the culprit, after such small amount of time. ‘’
‘’ You have only tested me? But what for? ‘’
‘’ As said, something great is about to happen, and you are going to be a big part of it, if your heart is clean, and your mind is just. ‘’ He reached for something within his robes, and after that, he pulled out a scale, also golden. I noticed on thing the ankh-key and the scale had in common. Both had an eye engrave on them.
‘’ This is the Millennium Scale. With it, I can weigh your sins, and compare them to any one other item. ‘’ He reached for another thing inside of his robes. I could not see what he pulled out. It was so small. ‘’ If your sins weight more than this feather, your soul will be removed from this earth, to prevent the coming occasion from having someone unworthy of his duty being there. ‘’
He held scale at its foot in one hand, and the feather in the other. I suddenly saw the left side of it falling down, fast, until it had pushed the scale all the way down.
‘’ I will now drop the feather onto the other scale. If the scales don’t equal out, or the feather becomes heavier, you will take the consequences. ‘’ He dropped the feather. As it landed on the right scale, it fell, raising the left scale. It went a little in overbalance on the right side.
It then swinged a few times up and down on each side, until it finally stopped. I almost didn’t dare to look, but a feeling inside me, wanting to live, kept them open. The scale was equal on both sides.
‘’ Congratulations, apparently you are the one I have been looking for. ‘’ He took the key off of his neck, holding it towards me. Towards my head, to be exact, like there was a keyhole in my forehead.
‘’ Wait, didn’t it equal out? What are you doing? ‘’ I would have walked a step back, but I noticed my back was against the wall. There was nowhere to run, or hide.
‘’ I will grant you your wish. I will unlock the memories that have been locked inside of you, not to be seen by anyone. Even you. ‘’ The same second, the key went into my forehead, and turned. Everything went black for half a second. No more, no less. But that half a second seemed like an hour, maybe two, or three. That little moment seemed like it was not bound by the rules of time and space, if there were any.

‘’ Greetings once more, Wolfram. ‘’ I could see I now was in a room. A dark room. The walls were of some grey bricks, and there were shelves full of books, boxes full of cards, one single picture of my mother on a table, and lastly, a chest, bound with chains. Thick chains.
‘’ In there are your lost memories. All you need to do, is open the lock. ‘’
‘’ But… ‘’ I exclaimed, and turned around, but he was already gone. ‘’ I guess I’m on my own. Again. ‘’ I looked around this room, which I somehow knew. I had never been here before, but I felt like my whole life was in this room. So, naturally, it took me only minutes to find the key, who was on one of the shelves.
I went over to the chest, and I opened it. I put the key in the lock, and it fell apart. All the chains fell onto the floor, and then right through it. One chain link at a time. In the chest, I saw visions flash before me. I saw Cecilia at the qualifications. I saw myself changing jackets with Sora on the plane, in the 2nd class area. Then I saw Dominique. And then, the incident where I fell down, and lost my memory.
But now, I could see a little bit more. I could see myself not fainting after hitting my head, and I got up, slowly, and tried to find someone. In the act, I had walked out the building door. As this point, a man was suddenly standing in front of me.
At that time, I hadn’t known who he was, but now, I recognised him. It was Shadi, and he, himself, had used his key to alter my recollection. Or so I assumed. Last thing I saw, before it went black, was him shaking hands with my father.

‘’ Wow, didn’t think it’d be like this, but at least this answers a few questions. ‘’ I could see something lower in the bottom of the chest, and I bent over to reach for it. It was a little golden chest. Like the two items carried by Shadi, this thing had an eye on it.
I looked a last time in the chest, feeling in every corner for any lost items. Just as I was about to give up, I felt a small end of something stick out. I felt that it was stuck, so I pulled it out. As I lifted it up, I could see what it was. It was the Cyber Triplet Dragon, in all its glory.
I closed this chest, and as it closed, the chains reappeared on it. Tightened more than before.

Suddenly, there was a bright flash, the whole room lit up to the point that I couldn’t hold my eyes open. Half a moment later, I was in my room again. My room in the Academia, that is. A bit confused about what had just happened, who had just been in here, and if I actually did remember that my father had, with the help of Shadi, gotten me in just the position he wanted me.
But now, that I had realized the situation, and what my father had said in the email a few days ago:

As punishment, I demand you to rid yourself of your Cyber Triplet Dragon. I hope that you understand that this is for your own good. You have acted un-disciplinary, and that must be punished. If not done, I will see to it that you will not set foot in my house ever again. And I will make sure it is not your home anymore.
If you think that it’ll be a simple ban, you are mistaken. I can do more than so, and you know it.

I was going to use this information to my advantage. I wanted to make sure, that my father would have do ‘keep his promise’ somewhere that he would be seen. I knew exactly what he would do when put on the edge, like this.
I came up with a great idea. One that would get me expelled, because my father would make sure of that. One that I would need to make come to life as soon as possible. I didn’t want to waste time here.

I was going to do something potentially, or rather unavoidably, dangerous, but for some reason, I didn’t think I was going to get hurt. Not yet…

HEre is the new chapter. i apologize for not delivering it on time. I have no other excuse, than to say that i forgot. I thought about it, but then forgot later on...

    Chapter VII

    Confrontation With Tomorrow, And Yesterday

Everything was ready. Today I was going to confront my biggest fear. Something that was going to completely change my life, and I had done everything I could to soften the fall. I had emptied all my credits cards, and gotten the cash. So I had something to live with.
I had sent a mail to my father. In short, it said that something big was going to happen, and that I needed him and his deck to be there. And if he wouldn’t come, then I had a few things up my sleeve that could ruin his name. Something he would never allow to happen.
If only he knew that in reality, it wasn’t like that at all. It was the other way around. Him coming here would destroy his name. But there would be one way for him to restore it, and that would be by keeping his promise, which would also release me. Release me from the chains he had put on me.
But, as some wise man once said: With Freedom Comes Responsibility. And also: To Accomplish the Impossible, you must Face your Fears.
The latter explains what I mean by the first one.

I had told everyone to tell everyone else, that something great was going to happen. What? Many asked, but none got an answer. I just made sure that they knew to come. Made them want to come. What I had planned, I hoped to live up to what they expected. Truth was I didn’t really care if they liked it, I just needed them to be there.
And anyways, seeing how boring it was being here, someone needed to do something to stir things up. Give everyone something to talk about. And something else to look forward to.
I was dwelling in my own thoughts, standing in the arena, I was going to be duelling in in just an hour. Or less, depending on when my father was going to be here. I was planning on standing on that very spot, until I saw his helicopter arrived.
But, knowing him, he was going to be here the second he was told to come. He put a lot of effort into being punctual. Doing anything he promised. He said it helped business having people trusting you. And when they didn’t, you could always hire a few goons to make them do so.
I saw the sun being almost directly above me. I wanted it to shine directly onto the field, as sparks were going to fly. Sparks from metal grinding metal, from the strongest things this game had to offer.
The arena wasn’t that big. I was mostly interested in it because there were a lot of seats around, anyone could sit on the grass for being more comfortable, and the sun would shine right on us. It would be the perfect arena.

The time seemed to fly by. I was thinking about every single possible outcome, every single possible strategy, and every single move, that could let me summon the monster I wanted to summon. The monster I wanted to end him with.
I suddenly noticed people started coming. Well, actually, just one came right now, but she was a person I wanted to see this duel. She was the very first I had told about this. Since I knew that she couldn’t have forgiven me already. I had just told her that this was going to change her view on me.
But what happened after that, was completely up to her. I had a goal, I was going to meet it, and I was going to take any consequences for it. And so did she, only I think that her goal had a worse consequence. Much worse.
Only few moments after, more and more people started coming. Getting seated, and whatnot. It didn’t take long for the whole place to fill up, and I think everyone was there. Daedelus Blues, Mirage Yellows, and Nephthys Reds.
Some grew impatient within minutes, others just seemed to get more and more excited, the more they waited. Finally, he was there. I could hear the helicopter coming, and moments after, I could see it. A few more minutes, and the wind from the helicopter was almost stronger than my will to meet my father. Both forces made me want to just want to get away.
It finally came to a complete stop. A door opened, revealing a man in complete white, from top to toe. His suit was of the best material available, filver. It was a material made from liquefying silver, and keeping it liquid, even after cooling down, but still in a state where it was like silk. The colour was given by adding it to the mixture while it was cooling down.
Not only did it look good, but it was incredibly good at keeping the heat, and protecting you from bullets, or other unwanted substances and projectiles. It was perfect for him, as it showed it wealth, his lust for wealth, and how much he did to protect it. But only what was inside it. Him.

‘’ Hello, son. Whatever is it that was so urgent and important that you had me come here? I am a busy man you know. Can’t keep watching my family the whole time. I thought I had taught you how to handle things on your own. ‘’ My father, Ceeto Neri, said.
‘’ Yeah, by neglecting us… ‘’ I said, with a cold, but relaxed tone.
‘’ What? What did you say? ‘’
‘’ You heard me. All this time, being alone, being neglected, is about to get paid for. ‘’ Some people came over with some microphones, hand-free microphones, which were attached close to our mouths, so people could hear us.
‘’ You mean you brought me her for a lecture? ‘’ My father was talking in an angry tone.
‘’ In a way, yes. I want to end this fight between us right here, right now. I will defeat you in the game, where you yourself are said to be the King himself. ‘’ I took my deck out of my pocket. ‘’ If you refuse, I will see it as an act of a coward. ‘’
My father’s face was turning a little red, but within second he calmed down. It was something he had taught himself for keeping cool when talking to clients and whoever he needed it for. ‘’ I guess I must accept then. ‘’ He snapped his fingers, and someone came walking over to him with a little golden box. It was opened, and he pulled out his deck.
‘’ Let us settle this. After this duel, you will never more make me come out like this again, you hear me? ‘’ My father said in an even angrier tone, but still pretty relaxed.
‘’ Yeah, I won’t need more than this one. ‘’ I said, throwing a duel-disc over to my father. I knew he was used to using the giant duel arenas. The original, giant ones. He thought that the greater the monsters, the greater the experience. He didn’t even have a personal duel-disc, so I had to bring one for him.
‘’ I see you still use these primitive devices. ‘’ He said, putting it on, and his deck in. ‘’ Well, I shall satisfy your caveman needs of using them. ‘’ He said, with a laugh. Now the crowd really got interested in the duel, but I was only focusing on one special one in the crowd. The first girl to come.
She still looked no better than before. She even had two black lines from the back of her eyes down her cheeks, which weren’t that red anymore.
‘’ DUEL! ‘’ We both said, loudly, as we drew 5 cards each.

‘’ I’ll start. ‘’ My father said, drawing a card. ‘’ As you know, I have meetings to go to, so do you mind if I just end this duel fastly? ’’
‘’ Funny that you mention it, ‘’ I replied, staring directly into his eyes. ‘’ I was thinking just the same. ‘’
‘’ Heh, Ok, as you wish. I will start by summoning Manju of the Ten Thousand hands. ‘’ A man appeared on the field, with hands sticking in and out of his body every second. He looked like something that had come out of the ocean, because of his greenish colour.
‘’ And with his effect, I can add a Ritual Spell Card or Monster from my deck, ’’ This sea-creature took, with one of it’s countless hands, a card from his deck, putting it in his hand. ’’ and I’ll add White Dragon Ritual to my hand, activating it right away by tributing my Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands. ‘’
The monster on his field started to glow in a blue light. You could see him change into two beings. A dragon, and a man riding it. When the glow went out, you could see a white dragon and a rider in white armour on it. He was also wearing a white cape, and carried a sword.
‘’ Oh no… ‘’ I said, quietly. I could see a lot of the spectators didn’t know what was going to happen next. Didn’t know the effect of his monster. And they didn’t seem impressed.
‘’ Oh yeah, now I will tribute my Paladin of White Dragon to special summon the almighty… ‘’ The crowd was excited out of their minds now. None of them had seen this monster, and they would now see something many wouldn’t even dream of seeing with their own eyes.
‘’ Blue-Eyes White Dragon! ‘’ A great gasp was heard, as this dragon rider once again started to glow, growing in form, melding into one being. Once fully visible, you could see the almighty Blue-Eyes White Dragon. A mighty steel dragon, with an attack of 3000. Virtually unbeatable.
I had to keep my cool for keeping track of the duel. Nothing was worse than being overwhelmed, and forgetting to make a move. ‘’ Wow, you have never gotten it out on the first turn. Great move. ‘’ I said. ‘’ Too bad it isn’t good enough. ‘’
‘’ I’ll make you take back those words, because I’m now going to activate Fulfilment of the Contract, ‘’ His life points fell to 7200. ‘’ which lets me special summon a Ritual monster from my graveyard! ‘’ The dragon-riding paladin from before was back, and once again he turned into the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
‘’ No way… ‘’ I said, but was overheard, because of the cheering from the crowd.
‘’ Yes way, and I’m not done yet. I will now activate Cry of the Brotherhood. When two monsters are on the same side of the field with the same name, the owner of them must summon a third copy of that monster from his deck. Come forth, my third Blue-Eyes White Dragon! ‘’ Between the two big metallic dragons on the field, appeared a third one. They were all three staring me down.
    ‘’ Scared yet, son? ‘’
‘’ Well, I’ve faced worse. ‘’ That was probably the biggest lie I’d said yet, but what else could I say? That I was about to crap in my pants? Apparently, this impressed the spectating crowd, who were now crying out: ‘ Wooh! ‘. But I could still not see a movement from that one person in the crowd.
‘’ I see that there are no problems in your nerves. Looks like I did teach you something after all. ‘’ He was almost glowing with pride. Or it was just the reflection of the strong sun on his suit.
‘’ But I’m not done yet! I will now activate Polymerization, letting me fuse my three dragons to summon the ultimate Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! ‘’ His three dragons started melding together, going into a single body, with three heads.
I couldn’t understand how the crowd could keep getting surprised like this. It was just the first turn, and they had probably seen more than they would the whole rest of the year. But I had an advantage over all of them. I had seen this a thousand times. Only difference was, that this seemed to be on fast-forward.
‘’ And then I’ll end by setting a card. ‘’ He said.
‘’ Wow, you really take forever to do nothing… ‘’

I drew a card. ‘’ And now I can negate everything you just did in a single turn. I will activate Tribute to the Doomed, with which I discard Proto-Cyber Dragon to destroy your Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! ‘’ I said, laughing a little.
‘’ You’re way too predictable, son. I only fused my three dragons, so I could this card to protect it, should you do something just like that. I activate De-Fusion, which takes my dragon apart into three difference dragons again! ‘’ The was a bright flash of light, and afterwards, there were 3 new dragons on his field.
He had taken the bait. ‘’ Heheh, you just fell right into my trap. ‘’ My father looked like he was a tad frightened. ‘’ I did not choose to use Tribute to the Doomed over any other Smashing Ground or Fissure, for a special reason. To get Proto-Cyber Dragon to the graveyard. ‘’
‘’ But what does that help? He has no effect that benefits you anywhere but on the field. ‘’
‘’ Exactly! And now, I’m going to abuse just that. ‘’ I said, looking straight in his eyes again, then looked towards the girl in the crowd. Though she was actually following the duel a little now, she didn’t seem too excited.
‘’ To do that, I’ll activate Premature Burial! ‘’ My life points fell to 7200. ‘’ And with it, I get to special summon Proto-Cyber Dragon, with an attack of 1100 and the effect of being treated as Cyber Dragon. ‘’
‘’ But that still gives you no advantage, when facing three Blue-Eyes White Dragons! Did I teach you nothing? ‘’ He said, a bit disheartened, and angry.
‘’ No, you didn’t teach me anything! You were too busy in your meetings! While you were there, I thought up this combo. I can now chain Inferno Reckless Summon to the summon of Proto-Cyber Dragon, and special summon three… ‘’
    ‘’ Cyber Dragons… ‘’ I heard my father mumble.
‘’ Exactly. Because they are the same, they get to be the same. Come forth, my three Cyber Dragons! ‘’ Three snake-like creatures, covered by metal, appeared on the field. ‘’ But just summoning three of them isn’t enough. I need to combine them to utilize their full power. I’ll activate the effect of King of the Swamp, letting me discard him to add Polymerization to my hand, which I use to fuse my three Cyber Dragons! ‘’
A great ball of slime jumped out of my hand, which started covering my three Cyber Dragons. Mutating them into something greater.
‘’ Aren’t you forgetting something? If you do summon Cyber End Dragon, you only get one attack, which isn’t enough to really do anything. I have just the thing to stop that at any time. ‘’
‘’ That’s why I’m taking down all three of your dragons in one turn. ‘’
    ‘’ But wait, you don’t mean… ‘’
‘’ Yes, I mean the card you wanted to rid me of! Say hello to Cyber Triplet Dragon! ‘’ The layer of slime vanished, as a gigantic metallic snake, with three heads, appeared. Each with a sphere on each side of it’s head. One had black, one white, and one red sphere’s.
‘’ HOW DO YOU STILL HAVE THAT CARD! ‘’ He yelled in anger, surprising the crowd watching the duel.
‘’ He helped me get it. ‘’ I knew my father knew who I was referring to. That I was referring to Shadi. ‘’ And now, I will make sure that it rids me off with you! Cyber Triplet Dragon, Triplet-Strident Flames! ‘’ A ball of energy appeared in each of it’s mouths, only to be shot out, one at a time, at each of the Blue-Eyes White Dragons.
Each of the targets blew into pieces, lowering my father’s life points by 800 each time. First down to 6400, then 5600, and finally 4800.
‘’ And if I had used Power Bond, you’d be finished. You’re lucky, aren’t you, father? ‘’ I said. Now, he was really mad.
‘’ HOW CAN YOU HAVE THAT CARD! ‘’ He calmed down, but just a little. Enough for his voice to become normal, but the flames in his eyes didn’t extinguish. ‘’ That card should be torn to bits and pieces! ‘’
    ‘’ Well, I thought I liked it, so I kept it. ‘’
‘’ You will pay for that! ‘’ He draw a card. ‘’ And I just drew that card that will make sure you do! ‘’
