Default Discussion - PotD Top 10, Revisited

There's always those cards that are overhyped just after a Sneak Preview, and also ones that get overlooked. After two months of digestion, testing and discussion, we want to revisit the Power of the Duelist set.

What would you name as the set's top 10 cards, and what cards do you think were overrated or underappreciated?

To know all, is to forgive all.

Default

1. Chimeratech Overdragon
Has a one turn kill ability and is incredibly powerful
two things that are unignorable

2. Destiny Hero - Dogma
Tribute sheep tokens and a destiny hero to cut your
opponent's life points in half

3. Destiny Hero - Double Dude
Attacks twice and replaces itself with two tributable
tokens when destroyed

4. Mausoleum of the Emperor
Sacrifice your life points to gain field presence
Rather than lose a monster lose 1000 life points to
summon jinzo or Destiny Hero Double Dude. Most
duelists don't run double tribute monsters

5. Ultimate Tyranno
Having the ability to summon a 3000 atk monster with
Ultra Evolution Pill is a huge advantage, and it will
annhilate all of your opponent's monsters. Add a fairy
meteor crush and attack all of their scapegoats, or big
bang shot and attack all ojama tokens.

6. Destiny Hero - Fear Monger
This card has extreme potential. if it is destroyed it
can summon to the field Destiny Hero - Captain
Tenacious, and Tenacious can summon Fear Monger
again; or it can summon Destiny Hero - Dasher, or
even the almighty Dreadmaster, activating its effect.

7. Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill
Can be special summoned with cyberstein,
metamorphosis, or summoner of illusions; it deals
breakthrough damage, and is a 3000 attacker. Bonus: summon this with vehicroid connection zone and use limiter removal, it won't be destroyed.

8. Submarineroid
attacks directly, then switches to a decent defense.

9. Destiny Mirage
Lightning Vortex, Mirror Force become a waste of space
if this is already facedown on the field.

10. Black Stego
Give you an attacker when you need it and also
protects your life points if it is weaker than another
monster. Just use equips that increase atk and def.

some overrated cards are future fusion and overload fusion. these cards may allow you to summon a chimeratech at full power, but future fusion can easily be destroyed by spell/trap destroyers. overload fusion only works for chimeratech, gatling dragon, and labyrinth tank; so unless you have the right monsters in the graveyard, it is a dead draw or discard fodder.

1. Future Fusion

It can summon any monster, and that's just awesome for a Fusion summoning card. It's sad to have it limited to one, but it really is a powerful card.

2. Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill

Personally, I love Vehicroids, and this guy just rules. I've read remarks that this is the 'poor man's Cyber End Dragon', and that may be true, but he's easier to summon, protected by Vehicroid Connection Zone, and the picture just looks awesome!

3. Chimeratech Overdragon

Can get up to all most limitless attack points, can attack multiple times, and can be summoned out of no where! The only reason he's three on my list, is because he destroyes everything else on your field besides him (Anti-Future Fusion), and he's vulnerable to magic/trap removal.

4. Destiny Hero- Dasher

He can get up to 3100 attack points in one turn, can protect itself after it attacks, and has an awesome last effect! It can summon anything! The great thing about it is that it isn't limited to D- Hero decks.

5. Destiny Hero- Dogma

Easy to summon, and can clear the opponent's life points in half. With 3400 attack, this guy can be summoned in a regular warrior deck with just 3 D-Hero Dashers!

6. Submarineroid

Yeah, it attacks an opponent's lp, then switches to defense...AWESOME!

7. Alien Mother

The pic is just awesome! It's one tribute with a nasty attack, and an effect to boot! Out of all the aliens, this one's my favorite.

8. Elemental Hero Neos

He can fuse so easily with 3 other monsters, and he just looks awesome!

9. Neo-Spacian Black Panther

It seems like everyone has forgotten about this guy- it copies an effect! Meh... I guess It lost power when Chaos Sorceror got banned.

10. Black Ptera

When this card came out, I knew there were awesome combos with it. It's made some good OTK's in a relatively short time too...

My underrated cards of this set would have to be the Neo-Spacians. They have so much potential, but they are overlooked because they are tied to the sucky Elemental Heroes.
Zoro: If you didn't want to leave her behind, you should've just taken her by force!
Chopper: Ah! you neanderthal!
Nami: You suck!
Sanji: Marimo.
Luffy: Santouryuu.
Usopp: Wait, Luffy. "Santouryuu" isn't an insult.
Luffy: Yontouryuu.

Here's my opinion:

1 Chimeratech Over Dragon
2 Future Fusion
3 Neo-Spacian Dark Panther
4. Submarineroid
5. D- Hero Dogma
6. D- Hero Dasher
7. Mausoleum of the Emperor
8. Overload Fusion
9. Super Vehichroid Jumbo Drill
10. Vehichroid Connection Unit

What can I say. I like the Roids, they are Machines afterall. And DUH, Chimeratech and all his support cards were the OVER RATED cards in this set.

I'd say two very underrated cards are Mausoleum of the Emperor, Submarineroid and Vehicroid Connection Zone. Mausoleum can summon Jinzo or Airknight for a mere 1000 Life Points, and your opponent won't get the advantadge out of their Monarchs.

Submarineroid, like certain other monsters, can attack directly, but unlike those monsters, it actually can stay alive without stall. 1800 defense is nothing to laugh at, and combined with an attack boosting equip card, its stats just keep rising every turn. Combine this with an Axe of Despair or something and some My Body as a Shields and you've got 9200 damage in 4 turns.

Vehicroid Connection Zone makes summoned Vehicroids nigh unstoppable. The only way to kill it would be to remove it (D.D. Warrior Lady and Assailant are the only cards that remove nowadays), Book of Moon and destroy it, or take control of it and sac it. That's 3-4 cards in most decks, and you'll have been Jumbo Drilled to death long before. This turns a frail fusion into an invincible juggernaut; if roids got some decent monsters, this and 3x supercharge would be enough to make them tier 1.

You can't spell manslaughter without laughter!

1. Future Fusion- Fusions bacame much more playable.
2. Mausoleum of the Emperor- Summon high level monsters for 2000? pittance...
3. Chimeratech Overdragon- Amazing OTK possibilities.
4. Overload Fusion- Only when used after Future Fusion.
5. Ultimate Tyranno- 3000 attack everything. sweetness.
6. Submarineroid- 800/1800 direct attacker, then switch to DEF.
7. Alien Grey- a draw card for chaos before the ban list.
8. Neo-Spacian Dark Panther- Copy effects like spirit reaper and kill, or a Dark Ruler Ha Des for a turn...
9. Black Stego- similar to Submarineroid, but not directly.
10. Destiny Hero - Defender- better than Big shield (+100 DEF, not atk mode switch), next turn tribute.

There were probably some better cards out there, but I didn't bother to read their effects.

Only 4 appeal in any way to me:

Chimeratech OverDragon - The "hot" card of this set.
Overload / Future Fusion - Without these people wouldn't give too much for chimeratech.
Mausoleum - Makes bad cards ok.
