    Default Discussion - Instant Allies

One of the things that most people missed by either relying only on the MS Word version of the World of Warcraft TCG official rulebook or by glossing over the pdf version is all the cards and the abilities spoiled within. One in particular is the Instant Ally. If you don't know what I'm talking about check out Tristan Rapidstrike.

What kind of impact will cards like Tristan Rapidstrike have on gameplay?
In addition, what abilities other than Protector could you see being featured on a Instant Ally?
To know all, is to forgive all.

i think instant allies are a great idea. i'm curious if you will be able to use its protector ability if you play it during your opponents turn?

Since it's a keyword ability instead of an activated ability listed on the card, I think that you can use the protector as soon as he comes into play (otherwise the instant thing doesn't make much sense). However, I know that protector requires exhaustion, so maybe not?

can only use abilities if the ally has been there from the start of your turn
so you couldn't play instant ally then use an exhaust ability.
so the only good i can see about instant allies is playing them at the end of your opponents turn so they can attack the next turn.
instant allies that have resource payments will see more play than allies that a player needs to commit

    From the rulebook:

So Rapidstrike can jump in and protect on the spot, making him about a billion times better than I thought he'd be (I totally glossed over the Instant part). I think he'll be great for ambushing elusive allies, and a pretty solid card all around.

    Peace,

The actual rule states that you can't use activated abilities unless they were in your party at the start of your turn. I sincerely believe that protector is not counted in this.

<edit>And Mike posted the segment of the rulebook about it.
