    Default Your Ideal B & R List

This thread was made for the speculation of the upcoming banned and restricted lists. Here you will find the views & opinions of people who play the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG and what they believe would be the best changes for the current game.

I joined the tournament circuit last season when the first Banned and Restricted lists were issued, and I find it easy to say that this game has come a long way since the 2004 World Championship. Over the span of time that each list is adjusted to supposedly improve the current state of the game, or rather "balance the equation," drastic changes or in the upcoming lists case, mistakes are made. Since the dawn of the Advanced & Traditional system CC Chaos decks have reigned over tournaments with an iron fist, followed by Mill, Tsukuyomi Control etc. The upcoming lists support the complete annihilation of Chaos decks, Goat Control decks and Tsukuyomi decks along with the rise of zombie and warrior abuse beyond comprehension.

Now that the general points have been made across, let us take a look at the changes in the new lists shall we?:

    Banned:

Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning: This change has been long anticipated and is will justified. There is not much to complain about when it comes to this alteration.

Delinquent Duo: This is another card that deserved it's banning. Due to the Top-Decking antics of the Yu-Gi-Oh! community, almost every 1st turn that has been taken, someone went from 5 cards to 3, thus giving a crippling disadvantage for the person on this card's receiving end.

Graceful Charity: This is I did not understand. I was surely expecting the pot of greed to be added to the list because of it's 2 for 1 advantage, not graceful for it's draw 3 discard 2 (+1) advantage. This is probably one of the most crucial mistakes that were made on Konami's behalf.

Mirror Force: This would be the second mistake on the forbidden list. Since swarm will be in high effect since zombies and warriors will have had an exceptional power boost, defensive cards are in short supply and well needed in such a situation.

Ring of Destruction: This card needed to be placed here. This card alone has become just as, if not even more broken than the legendary Yata-Garasu.

Sinister Serpent: After it's release, this card has been stapled and abused in almost every deck imaginable. Due to the continual rise of discard cost removal, this deviant has literally made life for players both heaven and a living hell. Overall, this should not have been banned.

    Restricted:

Boon of Moon: This card has seen a large amount of abuse over the past months, but this is not the card that should have been restricted. The card that truly deserved this slot was the Magician of faith. This card needs to be semi-restricted or taken off of the lists entirely.

Confiscation: This card is more balanced than it's banned counterpart delinquent duo, but it does ruin the element of surprise. Overall this change was needed.

Dark Hole: This is the greatest of all mistakes on Konami's behalf. No more needs to be said.

Limiter Removal: This card was placed here because of the rise of CED OTK decks. This change may have been a slight bit irrational, but perhaps it was needed.

Metamorphosis: With Scapegoat's restriction, this card has no real reason to be restricted at all what so ever. This card needed to be moved down to the Semi-Restricted List.

Night Assailant: This restriction was almost completely pointless. Since sinister has been banned, this card would take it's place, but if not used in pairs, it isn't even worth running and discard cost cards will be eagerly tossed away. However, this card would have been abused therefore it did deserve it's place on this list.

Scapegoat: This change will certainly improve the game as we know it.

Thousand Eyes Restrict: Like mentioned by several other article writers, this change was utterly pointless. Most people only use 1-2 TER to begin with.

Tsukuyomi: This card was being abused at a constant, and for that it deserves a spot on the Limited list.

Semi-Restricted: No additions have been made as of yet.

    Un-Restricted:

Dark Scorpion-Chick the Yellow: Shouldn't have been on any restriction to begin with so this change is very logical.

Marauding Captain: This Un-Restriction however, was another mistake taking under consideration that mirror force has been banned, swarm decks will be abused even more now than in the past.

Vampire Lord: This is just rediculous. Say hello to the new chaos, and because mirror force and ring have been terminated it makes it so much easier for this card to kill someone (and their deck) off quickly.

My idea of a more balanced banned and restricted list would look something like this (Note: The following lists were not issued by UDE or Konami, but are views made by this article's writer.):

i personally dont mind the japanese ban list which is on the forums. the only thing i would change is scaegoat to 2 instead of 1 as seeing as meta is now 1 theres not as much point in having 1 scapegoat.

Lot of people wondered why Dark Scorpion-Chick the Yellow was on the Limited list and I know why. In the Tradtional Format Makyura the Destructor is still playable and that opens up a nasty OTK that they were trying to limit the playablility of. (clear field and have Makyura sent to grave, use call of the haunted from hand to summon Chick, attack directly, send Call to hand, Call Chick, attack directly etc....)

I also feel that the past lists have not taken a very good look at some of the cards that will be released after the list goes into effect. The OCG list does have a few elements that are being taken care of for future sets. In EEN there are so many cards that you actualy want to discard that Sinister will actualy be a bad discard. Also Graceful would be abuseing the discard effect to special summon two powerful monsters to the field.

First of all, I am surprised that anyone even posted on this thread, since it hasn't been noticed for several days. Secondly, the makyura combo was something that I myself have experimented with just before he was banned and it needed to be. Believe it or not, but I am actually looking forward to the new format in october. Without chaos and some primary staples this game would be even more challenging, and I'm always game for such a change. And IMO, they can make corrections on the next list in april. (Or in other words, I already made my deck LoL)

i'm toast. i play trad. but am trying (and failing) to convert to advanced and this makes my entire deck (70%)banned and another 25% restricted!! i run a (sigh) chaos deck, but maybe his is just an excellent opportunityto switch to zombie/warrior/other...........
