The Official Hazy Flame Discussion Thread
I figured, what the hey! There isn't one already, so I'll start one. The Hazy Flame Monsters are a new archetype that was released in Cosmo Blazar and are all based on some mythological creature. They are all Level 6 FIRE monsters, and their strategy involves summoning their boss Monster, Basilitrice. A Rank 6 Xyz, which has several different effects, depending on the number of Xyz materials she has. And the Hazy Flame support cards allow her to accumulate more than the two that are required for her summon. But even with 2 materials, she is deadly. Once per turn, you can detatch 1 Xyz Material from her to banish (yes banish!) any opponents monster on the field (face-up or face-down) or in the graveyard. And with 2500 ATK and 1800 DEF to start, that sure ain't bad (And with 3 or more materials, both her ATK and DEF increase). I'll get into the monsters of the archetype now, and give an example deck-list as a starting off point.
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame
The Monsters:
Hazy Flame Basilitrice
Rank 6, FIRE
Pyro/Xyz/Effect
ATK 2500/DEF 1800
"2 or more (max. 5) Level 6 FIRE monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 monster your opponent controls or is in their Graveyard; banish that target. This card gains effects based on the number of Xyz Materials attached to it.
• 3 or more: This card gains 200 ATK and DEF for each Xyz Material attached to it.
• 4 or more: This card cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects.
• 5: This card cannot be destroyed by card effects."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Basiltrice
Hazy Flame Hyppogrif
Level 6, FIRE
Pyro/Effect
ATK 2100/DEF 200
"Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 FIRE monster you control; this card gains 300 ATK."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Hyppogrif
Hyppogriff is not released in the TCG yet. It comes in the Onslaught of the Fire King's Structure Deck.
Hazy Flame Cerberus
Level 6, FIRE
Beast/Effect
ATK 2000/DEF 200
"You can Normal Summon this card without Tributing, but its original ATK becomes 1000. Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Hazy" card from your Deck to your hand."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Cerbereus
Hazy Flame Griffin
Level 6, FIRE
Winged Beast/Effect
ATK 200/DEF 2100
"If your opponent controls a monster, and all the monsters (if any) on your side of the field and in your Graveyard are FIRE (and only FIRE), you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Griffin
Hazy Flame Sphynx
Level 6, FIRE
Beast-Warrior/Effect
ATK 1900/DEF 1900
"Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. You can declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap); send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if it was the declared card type, you can Special Summon 1 FIRE monster from your hand or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Hazy Flame Sphynx" once per turn."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Sphynx
Hazy Flame Peryton
Level 6, FIRE
Pyro/Effect
ATK 1600/DEF 1700
"Cannot be Special Summoned, except by a "Hazy Flame" monster's effect. Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. You can send 1 FIRE monster from your hand to the Graveyard and Tribute this card; Special Summon 2 "Hazy Flame" monsters from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Hazy Flame Peryton" once per turn."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Peryton
Hazy Flame Mantikor
Level 6, FIRE
Winged Beast/Effect
ATK 2200/DEF 300
"Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can send 1 FIRE monster, except this card, from your hand or face-up from your side of the field to the Graveyard; this card cannot be destroyed by card effects this turn."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Flame_Mantikor
The Spell/Trap:
Hazy Pillar
Continuous Spell
"You can Normal Summon "Hazy Flame" monsters for 1 less Tribute. Once per turn: You can target 1 Xyz Monster you control; attach 1 "Hazy Flame" monster from your hand or your side of the field to that Xyz Monster as an Xyz Material."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Pillar
Hazy Glory
Continuous Trap
"You can Normal Summon "Hazy Flame" monsters for 1 less Tribute. You can send this face-up card from the field to the Graveyard to target 1 "Hazy" card in your Graveyard, except "Hazy Glory"; add that target to your hand."
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hazy_Glory
Possible Support:
Flamvell Firedog
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Flamvell_Firedog
Can use his effect to search out Cerberus and Hyppogrif
Goka, the Pyre of Malice
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Goka,_the_Pyre_of_Malice
Easy Level 6 Special Summon. But his effect might hurt, having to also destroy a monster. But if you can control it, he could be good.
Laval Lancelord
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Laval_Lancelord
Also a target for Firedog. He's Level 6 and he can be normal summoned without tributing. Because he's FIRE, you can use him to make Basilitrice.
Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Hieratic_Dragon_of_Tefnuit
Level 6, can be special summoned from the hand when your opponent controls a monster and you don't. There could even possibly be a Hieratic-Hazy Flame Hybrid.
Assault of the Flaming Kings
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Assault_of_the_Fire_Kings
Can be used to get Hazy Flame's in your grave, or to easily make a Rank 6 Xyz with Laval Lancelord Hazy Flame Cerberus. It will also trigger Cerberus' search effect when it destroys him at the End Phase.
Overlay Regen
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Overlay_Regen
Could be used with Basilitrice, to grant him his extra effects quicker.
Rekindling
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Rekindling
Especially in a build that uses Firedog. Can be used to get back Firedog, Cerberus and Hyppogrif as well as Laval Lancelord if you use him.
Generation Shift
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Generation_Shift
Can be used to get extra copies of the monsters you need, as well as getting targets in the graveyard for Peryton's effect. Also acts as a +1 when used with Cerberus, letting you get an extra Cerberus from your deck, and use Cerberus' effect to get another "Hazy" card to your hand.
Flame Tiger
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Flame_Tiger
Can be used to tribute for the Hazy Beast's. Also can be used as a beatstick, and is searchable by Flamvell Firedog.
Soul Exchange
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Soul_Exchange
Can be used to get rid of opponent's monsters (and make them miss timing if it applies) and give you an extra monster on the field.
Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Thestal...estorm_Monarch
Goes along with the FIRE attribute, allowing you to use him for Basilitrice. Good attack compared to the other monsters. Decent effect. And when used with Soul Exchange, becomes a -2 for your opponent. (1 field, 1 hand).

I think all of those cards are bad and slow with the exception of cerberus and their xyz.
I personally love cerberus, I use 3 on my flame king build because it is insane with Flamvell Firedog, it replaces himself when destroyed (I only use 3 cerberus as hazy cards there) and cannot be targeted by my opponent, can be normal summoned without tribute AND is rekindeable.
This card is not costly at all and may plus a lot (Rekindling play into the fire xyz) as well as replacing himself, I usually normal summon him turn 1 and wait for it to be destroyed, grab another one and speed up my deck by 1 as well as having Rekindling fodder. I sometimes hace cerb + Horn of the Phantom Beast, it is awesome when the opponent attacks with a monster that is atk<1800 like Wind-Up Rabbit, and if you have one with 2000 atk + horn you have control of the game early on, no prison/compulsory/lance/bom against him, my favorite fire card of the booster

You make some good points. I'm not so quick to brush the archetype aside completely, though. But Cerberus definitely does sound good in Fire Kings.

Power Player
Hazy Flame/Fire King is really the only way to play this, Hazy Flames by themselves are way too slow, and don't have the power you really need. Also, the Fire King stuff really gives you a lot more options than regular Hazy Flame.

Monsters: 18
2 Card Trooper
3 Fire King Avatar Barong
2 Fire King High Avatar Garunix
3 Flamvell Firedog
1 Effect Veiler
3 Hazy Flame Cerbereus
2 Hazy Flame Peryton
2 Hazy Flame Sphynx
Spells:
1 Dark Hole
3 Fire King's Fire Ring
2 Forbidden Lance
2 Hazy Pillar
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
2 Mystical Space Typhoon
3 Onslaught of the Fire King
3 Rekindling
Traps: 4
2 Call Of The Haunted
2 Torrential Tribute
Extra: 15
1 Abyss Dweller
1 Diamond Dire Wolf
3 Hazy Flame Basiltrice
1 Inzektor Exa - Beetle
1 Leviair the Sea Dragon
1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn
1 Number 16: Shock Master
1 Number 17: Leviathan Dragon
1 Number 39: Utopia
1 Number 50: Blackship of Corn
1 Photon Pap
1 Photon Strike Bounzer
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines
Most of this deck is standard, the only thing that's really not is the traps and maybe some of the numbers on some of the cards(Barong, Lance, MST). The trap line-up is completely optional, you could just run MST #3, Lance #3, and 2 tech like Duality or something instead. I just prefer to run it because of how ridiculous TT is with the Fire Kings and Cebereus. Call is also pretty great in this deck because of how much stuff you have a tendency to send to the grave, and it can be used to get more materials on Basiltrice.

I think it's cool that Pillar lets you attach a Hazy Flame regardless of the Rank of the Xyz.

Regarding the Hazy/Hieratic, don't forget Meteor Dragon is a perfect fit.
Anyways, subbed because I love the archetype! Always fun to find new decks to play, and this happens to tickle my fancy.
Depending on the build, wouldn't one want to try Horn of the Phantom Beast in the deck?
Another idea: Plaguespreader? Stack for Sphynx and makes LV8 Synchros too! Credits to batsmak for the suggestion.
I know Hazy Glory is pretty slow, but it's a pretty cool card design so I always give a couple of copies a shot. Outside an MST snipe, it can easily dodge 141s like MST "after the fact" and plus in that regard. Likewise, you can fetch other Hazy S/T as well, not just monsters.
Other than the current monsters listed in the OP, any other relevant FIRE type monsters (preferably 6 stars) worth trying in here? Some I have looked at:
Jurrac Herra (can fit in Guaiba, Aeolo for some Rekindling connection)
Manticore of Darkness (can be supported by most of the types used in the deck)
B.E.S.Big Core MK-2 (2400 beater that has some resiliency)
Evolsaur Elias/Terias (can Evols fit in nicely somehow? Access to both Basilitrice and Solda sounds boss)
Twinheaded Beast (double ATK shenanigans pairs up nicely with a Horn of the Phantom Beast)
And as an aside, thoughts on Molten Destruction? Yeah I know the general stigma of such inefficient Field Spells, but it wouldn't hurt to try... well I guess opposing Fire Fist or Fire King or Hazy Flames can use this against us too.

i play this deck with tefnuit and its more consistant that a pure fire build with hyppogriff. Also is it handy to play traps in this deck? in my build i run only 2 call of the hauntend and thats it.

Traps are kept to a relative minimum as it has similar playstyles as Hieratics do, hence why Tef can fit in nicely.
