Thread: URw Control

    Default URw Control

    Looking to build something other than Miracle to deal with all the aggro decks on MTGO right now. I quickly threw some of the cards I want to play together and here is what I've got so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Haven't put together a sideboard yet since I just threw this together so I'm open for any suggestions.

    Creatures [6]

    Lone Revenant x 2
    Snapcaster Mage x 4

    Planeswalkers [2]

    Tamiyo, the Moon Sage x 2

    Spells [26]

    Think Twice x 4
    Pillar of Flame x 4
    Dissipate x 4
    Silent Departure x 3
    Devil's Play x 3
    Brimstone Volley x 3
    Terminus x 3
    Rolling Temblor x 2

    Other [1]

    Runechanter's Pike x 1

    Lands [25]

    Desolate Lighthouse x 2
    Sulfur Falls x 4
    Clifftop Retreat x 4
    Island x 7
    Mountain x 5
    Plains x 3

    @FLBIGBIRD10,

    While I am not really well-versed in Innistrad Block Constructed, that list certainly looks decent enough.

    I was just wondering if Fettergeist might actually be a good option here. At least it comes off as a better option than Snapcaster Mage here in my opinion, given that most of your spells are either expensive or do have Flashback themselves. Due to Fettergeist's relevant body size and evasion, it seems like it could put up a great defence/offence if required.

    Yeah after playing with Fettergeist it's been pretty solid and I've replaced the Snapcasters with it. I'm thinking of taking out the Silent Departures for a Blasphemous Act and maybe adding another Brimstone Volley and Lone Revenant. Any ideas for additions or sideboard options for the BGR Falkenwrath Wolfhir matchups?

    @FLBIGBIRD10,

    I assume that you are referring to the Jund decks.

    I do not know what sideboard options you are using right now, but perhaps a combination of Nevermore, Blasphemous Act and Zealous Conscripts could help in those matchups? It definitely seems like a tough matchup (they can just win Attrition wars easily) and I am unsure if there are really any effective ways in beating them consistently in Block Constructed.

    Anyway the Grixis decks (BRU) do seem to have far better effective answers to Jund, Appetite for Brains is just one such card which hits all their power cards - Restoration Angel, Wolfir Silverheart, Falkenrath Aristocrat etc etc.
