Power Player
Aside from being legendary (which has gone out of style for lands), isn't this strictly better than every other purely manafixing land that enters the battlefield tapped?

I think it is quite weak actually. Not until three (!) turns after you drop it can you actually get some mana out of it, and then only every second turn. I'd either ditch etb tapped or let it etb with a gem counter already on it (which will functionally play nearly the same).
Edit: Nvm, just noticed that removing counters does not require it to tap. Seems fine then, actually a bit strong if you get it running.

Probably in the same group as Sol Ring as "Unless you have a good reason this better be in your EDH deck."
It might be too good, not sure. Legendary helps.

I thought about adding a life payment to the removal of counters, more as a nod to City Of Brass more than anything else. I could do that if you think it needs to be powered down a bit.

but it can act as a battery land too, giving access to, say, 3 mana on second turn.
Since it's legendary the opponent can run some just to ruin your plans, but it feels that this one would be a must-play-4 and that's not good.
Why blue? Please do not try to fit blue in every card…
Why black? Adding life loss doesn’t make any spell black…
