Whenever Etix, Chosen's Sword becomes unattached, transform it.

Is it correct that an equipment has no equip ability? You could reword it:

Equip--Remove 5 Hold counters from ~.

When ~ becomes attached to a creature, transform ~.

Also... why do I have to play a creature first? I can still attach it to another creature, right?

Yes, it has no equip ability, however it does attach when a creature comes in and you use the ability. It transforms to an equipment, then you attach it to that creature.

And you can only get it when a creature comes in because the blade is "awaiting" someone special, not just accepting anyone.
