Could this be common - not should this be common - but could this be common?

Well I wouldn't like to be facing turn four/five (haven't bothered to calculate) Progenitus in Extended, but it isn't that bad. Not very breakable in Standard, anyways, so I guess it's common level.

The only problem with it would be that this is a completely dead card in limited (though it might've been okay in Alara), and nobody would really enjoy opening one of these up in a pack. I wouldn't make this common, did I work for Wizards, but I suppose it could be common if Wizards really felt like annoying us.

It feels more like an uncommon to me, actually. I don't feel there's any justification for it going anywhere else (Too "big" of an effect for a common IMO but definitely not rare/mythic material).

Yeah, I agree with Warmaker. It's not the kind of effect that needs to be common for it to do its job in Limited, and it's too splashy to be any less than uncommon. On the other hand, it also could not be rare because it's not splashy enough. Uncommon is the only real possibility.
