Dark World Rulings

I just wanted to know what the exact rulings are on darkworld cards, and what is considered to be a discard. If I ditch Broww, Huntsman of Dark World for Transcendant Wings, for instance, would I still draw a card from my deck?

Darkworld Monsters get their effect when they are discarded, by a card effect. Both of these are important.

- Discard,

This is the easier one, any card that discards, will say so, and if it doesn't say discard, then it does not discard. Darkworld monsters trigger from discards, they will not trigger when a card only says "send from hand" as this is not a discard.

- Effect,

This means the discard has to be part of the card's resolving effect, not the cost. So Darkworld monsters do not work with Raigeki Break, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, of any other card that discarded the card as a cost. Typically the card's cost will be the first part of the card text, though it will be listed after any activation restrictions.


Some examples,

Transcendant Wings fails on both account - it sends, not discards, and it is a cost.
Darkworld Lightning is one they work with, the discard is not a cost, it's part of the effect, after the destruction.
Hand Destruction has no cost, but it sends, not discards, therefore Darkworld monsters do not work with it. However they will work with Card Destruction.
Depth Amulet is an odd card in two respects, but the interesting one here is the discard, despite the wording, it actually part of the effect and not a cost. Darkworld monsters will work with it.

Thanks for the clarification. Ruling is pretty terrible for what I had in mind, but no matter, I basically figured it wouldn't work so flawlessly.
