Default A little about me and request for feedback on an iPhone app idea

    About me
I'm a casual WOW TCG player. My wife and I picked up starter boxes a year ago and have spent time playing together and building up various decks. It's a lot of fun! This is the first TCG I've spent a lto of time with and I've found it to be a great way to spend an evening.

We recently got my sister and her husband to start playing. So now we have weekly games and will be trying out the raid decks this weekend.

    The Problem
One night we got together to play but our normal large table was unavailable so we squeezed around a small end table. There was just enough room for everything when the game started but towards the end game when we had a lot of resources out it was very frustrating trying to fit everything in. We ended up putting our resources into a single pile and using dice to keep track of what our total and current resource counts were. It worked, but it wasn't great.

Another ongoing annoyance is that when resource counts get up there you spend a lot of time flipping cards back and forth. The people I play with tend not to be too picky about how clearly they tap a resource so it's often hard to see just how many resources they've tapped in a given turn.

    My Idea
I had an idea that you could easily keep track of all of that with a simple iPhone app. There would be a counter for your total number of resources and a counter for how many you had left for that turn. With a single tap you could reset your current counter back up to your total at the beginning of each turn.

I built it out as a website and it worked great. It's very simple and only does the one thing. We still track health and everything with dice (which I find to be a fun part of the game), but now we don't have to fill the table with a bunch of face-down cards and we don't have to spend any time flipping them back and forth. It's also very easy to see what everyone's totals are.

    Feedback
I'm currently building a native version of the app. I don't really get to talk to other people who play the WOW TCG (or any TCG in general). I wanted to get a little feedback from you all and see if my idea sounded like something you'd like and might use occasionally. I know iPhone app counters aren't usable in tournaments but in a casual setting would you see value in a resource counter app?

    Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for you time

I personally don't find it that useful. The main reason for this is that it matters is for non-facedown resources - locations in particular. I also tend to mostly practice for tournaments, where there is (hopefully) sufficient room (and the resources matter a lot more).

Now having started with a negative, I don't think that there aren't people who would find it useful. I'm just not one of them.

I agree. The best way to play is with a big table, lots and lots of dice, pizza, beer and a good group of people.

But, for those times when all you have is a 20" end table and you wanna play, well, now there's an app for that.
