    Default Halo Series

I noticed that there isn`t a thread to discuss the Halo series. I myself am a huge fan, and have been playing since Halo 1.

So lets get this discussion going!

Favourite game. (Do you still play Halo 1, or 2, or do you play Halo 3, Halo Wars, or ODST?)

Gamertags (Mine is Fosterchild777 add me if you want! )

Speculation on the future release: Halo Reach. (do you think it is truly going to be the final game of the series)

Halo 1: Wow this is awesome

Halo 2: meh, it was alright. Online is awesome!

Halo 3: better than halo 2. Online is still awesome, but getting old!

Halo Wars: Isn't starcraft, so the gameplay is bad. CGI is awesome

ODST: horrible campaign, multiplayer is same old same old, and is nearly unplayable now that I've played Modern Warfare 2. seriously, my friends and I tried to play firefight after a month of Modern Warfare 2, and had to turn the sensitivity up all the way to resist the urge to immediately quit.

    Halo REACH: who cares.

The halo series has died for me after ODST. Microsoft will slap halo on anything and make you buy it because it's Halo. Music has been the same remixed thing for the past seven years. Multiplayer is now slow paced when compared to the faster combat of Call of Duty, Killzone, and others, with limited variety. No character customization in multiplayer these days is completely unacceptable.

Only thing halo has going for it is the alien design, theme song, and driving warthogs.

I agree Halo3, was a let down (mostly due to the ridiculously high standards set by the previous two), and ODST was a major upset, and I only got ODST for the Halo 3 Multiplayer maps. So, I must admit it is losing it`s sparkle now that it has been around for a few years. In many ways Halo & Bungie has revolutionized FPS`s in more ways than one, but I think that unless Halo Reach is mind blowing that they should put the series for a rest. I still play Halo 3 to this day, and won`t stop playing anytime soon, but I would rather remember it for being a great series than it being an ongoing "$/?fest...

Halo hasn't had any significant changes since Halo 2, and that was only through the online. Dual wielding, so what? The only reason it's gotten a free pass this long is because of the nostalgia we all feel from the first time we booted up XBL on Halo 2. Now that they've blatantly ripped us off with ODST, I think people are going to start ignoring the Halo franchise. Hell, I also got ODST for the maps mainly, because I've never bought halo DLC so I couldn't play much after Mythic came out. Then I played about seven games and went "why did I pay 60 bucks for this?" You can't imagine how angry I've gotten recently after thinking back on how big of a rip off this was.

Simply put, it has ONE thing up on other FPS franchises: online split screen. And eventually people are going to egg Activision hard enough that they give it to Call of Duty. On that day, there will be no reason to play Halo ever again.

Halo 2 was a great game although like you touched on I think the dual-wielding was unnecessary. I still think that Halo 3 is a really good game(equipment adds to the list along with dual-wielding for unnecessary). It is just overrated due to ridiculously high expectations, since Halo1 kicked a$$, and Halo2 was able to meet the expectations with mostly due to a top-notch Xbox Live experience... :| I`ll admit ODST was the biggest %?+*ing rip off ever, and there really isn't any way to defend such a blatant scam of a game. It should have either had its own unique multiplayer, (firefight does not count) or cost only $50(max) to start.

Also, I never understood why online splitscreen is not an option in COD: MW2. That would definitely help their franchise.

Call of Duty, the way I justify it, has been doing everything they can to prevent screams of cheating and cheap play (like the ones that populate Halo).

-With no split screen there is no complaints that they can't see half the screen.
-With kill cams you can see every single bullet fired, place the enemy was hiding, and the perks/weapons they had.
-With weapon selection, you have no reason to complain about enemies getting weapon pick ups before you.

So that's that reason for split screen omission.

Halo 2's campaign was crap. Too much flood focus.

That's true I forgot about that. The main reason for the bad campaign was the rush to meet deadline... I wish they had just delayed the release. They actually didn't even intend for there to be a cliffhanger at the end, that's just how rushed they were. (not even to mention the graphics delay... :|)

That's what everyone says when you get the violent backlash they did at the cliffhanger.

LOL, 9 times out of 10 I would agree with you, but in this case it's pretty obvious they rushed to meet deadline. They even cut a few levels just so they could make it, and the only way they could do that so it would make sense is with the cliffhanger. Then again that could all be bull $h1t, and the cliffhanger was intentional. If so then the ridiculously high expectations for Halo 3 was their fault... IF.

Or they threw a shoddy piece of crap together as a prelude to how they were gonna rip us off in ODST
