I will play this. I am building artifacts. They will be strong. Unless there's a board artifact killer that I'm missing in my lack of sleep. Delicious artifacts, I miss Mirrodin.

As I said. I'm running on a powerful lack of sleep. Even so to forget Shatterstorm while it was mentioned earlier. I'm okay with dodging Shatterstorms. If you can only play one non-artifact spell a turn, I'll be happy to use mine to play a counter spell. I'm looking forward to UW artifact control. Curious if I can wake up enough to come up with a potential list.

I'm not sure I see this having an impact on standard, but in formats that do 100 things on one turn... definately. Unfortunately I don't really play those formats...

Fracturing Gust? It's costly, true, but at instant speed, it kinda wins against Artifact Decks.

The key is that it is a soft lock of sorts for Esper control, allowing them to keep you from fighting through counterspells by casting multiple cards on a single turn. Of course, we have yet to see much backup for counterspells in SoA.

I don't see her becoming a big thing until late game.. honestly before turn 5 how often are you playing more then one spell are turn anyway? I would almost be tempted to mix tezz and Elspeth.

to raka- lol I am still a Timmy I hate blue I just know its the strongest color in magic... Cut to Power nine.. some artifacts and blue cards lol.

I like this card more and more every time I see it. It's potentially backbreaking against a lot of aggro decks, who will be forced to kill this before they can be able to swarm you. As you take this card back into extended, legacy and vintage, the applications continue to rise, even though a lot of artifacts are played in those formats, the storm decks will cringe as though a Gaddock Teeg was just played, they can't cast a Ritual type card into a spell or Burning Wish for the Pyroclasm and play it that turn. Seems good in Affinity sideboards to just hate opponents off, it won't prevent Pernicious Deed (Legacy), but it will do relevant things.

Counter target spell. It's controller loses 3 life and you gain 3 life.

Seems i was right. Must never underestimate blue. This, crypto, Hindering Light and that bant charm make for one wicked control approach.
