Last Satuday I played in my local store's Magic Game Day Tournament for Zendikar in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. Our store is called Gryfalia's Aerie, it's recently relocated and is pretty sweet now, you should swing by if you are near. We had a tournament attendance of 31 people and it would be 5 rounds of Swiss with a cut to top 8. The top 8 would receive the Emeria Angel promos, split a box and get a stack of random foil promos obviously with more loot going to the higher finishers.

First of all, I would like to start this by saying that the Zendikar prerelease was by far the most fun I've had at a prerelease since returning to Magic a few years back. I absolutely LOVE this set for limited and am very excited about the extra long PTQ season (because of online PTQ's) ahead. The flavor in the design is very well executed and more than anything since Ravnica or Time Spiral this set just makes the little kid magic player in me go crazy, as it captures the essence of an adventure...

I recently attended a ptq in Louisville, Kentucky to kick off the extended season. This was one of the first ones of the year and was one of about ten that are in the area (I live in central Illinois). I chose to play U/R Swans because it has a good game against the majority of the field, and packs several answers to many popular decks in both the main and sideboard. Also, it is situated to beat many aggro decks, particularly Zoo, which often make up the majority of ptq's since they are cheap...
