Gigavise, The New Meta
I have been waiting patiently for the arrival of the new Warrior Strike structure deck, and it finally came. I had patiently waited for this deck to come out so I could discuss a new up and coming deck that we are sure to see alot of play. Gigavise, but sadly when the deck came out I began to see players trying to run their idea of what Gigavise was, and they had no clue of what the deck was about.
So today I am here to not only discuss this new deck, but to explain the way the deck should run. So lets begin with the decks main engin.
Your main engin is based around Supervise and Gigaplant, but what is it that this deck uses in it's engin. The first two cards that come to mind are Lonefire Blossom and Hidden Armory. These cards allow you to grab the two most essential cards in the deck, Supervise and Gigaplant. Without these cards your deck will be far too slow to keep up in the current meta.
Now you may be wondering what cards help this engin run? Well althout there are few cards to add Supervise to the hand there are cards to get your Lonefire Blossom much faster. So lets look at those cards, the first that you may remember, and has rarely seen any play lately is UFO Turtle, this card allows you to summon two components from your deck allowing for speed and versitility. Those two are Lonefire Blossom and Blazewing Butterfly, there are far and few cards that will work in this deck's main engin which is what makes Gigavise one of the hardest decks to build.
So lets look at the decks main engin staples:
2 - Lonefire Blossom
3 - Gigaplant
3 - Supervise
1-2 - Blazewing Butterfly
2-3 - UFO Turtle
2 - Hidden Armory
These cards are the first parts of your engin and allow for the deck to keep it's speed, power and consistency. So now lets take a look at what other cards will help your theme and push for the decks end result.
These will include Copy Plant, Nettles, Dandylion and Sangan. These cards add for an additional edge in the game, Copy Plant and Nettles are essential tuners in the deck, Gigaplant + Nettles is an instant lv. 8 Synchro while Gigaplant + Copy Plant is a Lv. 7 Synchro, the main OTK the deck will have will only require two cards to start off, for those who don't know it those cards are Supervise and Lonefire Blossom.
The OTK works like this, normal summon Lonefire Blossom and tribute it to summon Gigaplant, equip Gigaplant with Supervise and use Gigaplant's effect to summon Lonefire Blossom, tribute Lonefire for Copy Plant. Synchro summon Powertool Dragon and use Supervise to grab the Gigaplant that was just sent to the grave. Then activate Powertool's effect selecting 2 Supervise and 1 Mark of the Rose. Assuming that Supervise was chosen equip it to the Gigaplant that was just summoned and activate Gigaplants effect to grab Copy Plant and again Synchro for Powertool and grab back your Gigaplant with Supervise's effect. Now activate Powertool's effect and select Supervise and 2 Mark of the Rose. If you get Supervise use it on Gigaplant and use it to summon Copyplant and do the whole thing over again, but if you get Mark of the Rose then just take control of whatever your biggest threat is and swing away with a full field.
This deck's OTK is one of the easiest to run, but it also is one of the trickiest, because if the wrong card is selected then you won't likely get your OTK, but that doesn't mean you'll lose you just will have less to work with for that turn.
Now lets take a look at the decks so Far:
Monsters: 14
3x Gigaplant
2x Loefire Blossom
2x Blazewing Butterfly
3x UFO Turtle
1x Dandylion
2x Nettles
1x Copy Plant
Magics: 7
3x Supervise
2x Hidden Armory
2x Mark of the Rose
So far we know what we will run, but now we need those essential combo cards that allow for faster play and more advantage in the game. Obviously Plants don't have the greatest draw engin and this makes the deck hard to get an advantage, but don't worry because there is still chance. Most likely you won't be running Hand or Card Destruction as they are both -1 cards and wont get you much card advantage. And without CoSR you miss out on that draw engin.
So where do you turn for speed?
The most common used draw cards to this date are Destiny Draw, Allure of Darkness and Solar Recharge, obviously Destiny Draw requires a dedicated engin on it's own something we cannot spare and Solar Recharge though powerful is taking a large chance and possible loosing your most major cards to the grave, which is somewhere best no put. Though don't get me wrong grave control is essential in the deck and you have many cards to get back what you loose, you may end up loosing a card that you need at that time.
So that leaves us with Allure of Darkness, an easy card to run if you run darks, but there are few dark plants that have synergy with the deck, so what do you run instead, well personal opinion is that you run the monsters that help your end result.
So let's see what they are, Plaguespreader Zombie is almost staple in todays meta not only allowing for synchro summons, but it's feed for Allure and can special summon it'self. Then there is Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind another great tuner that is feed for Allure and has a devistating effect, and we also have Sangan, a card that not only feeds Allure but searches out almost all of the cards in the deck.
So what else should you run? Well if we add those 3 darks then that puts us up to 17 monsters and we want no more then 20 at best, so that gives us 3 free spots, two great choices are Gorz, Emissary of Darkness and Dark Armed Dragon, but DAD almost requires his own engin and may be a dead draw in a deck that runs so few darks, so he isn't going to make the cut this time, and Gorz though great doesn't really help our end result.
So then what do we do now? So I say we run two Mystic Tomato, they are plants so they can feed our Mark of the Rose, they are dark so they can be used with Allure and they can summon Plaguespreader, Gale and Sangan and they can also be summoned by Gigaplant.
So now lets look at the deck:
Monsters: 19
3x Gigaplant
2x Lonefire Blossom
3x UFO Turtle
2x Blazewing Butterfly
2x Nettles
1x Copyplant
1x Dandylion
1x Plaguespreader Zombie
1x Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
1x Sangan
2x Mystic Tomato
Magics: 9
3x Supervise
2x Hidden Armory
2x Mark of the Rose
2x Allure of Darkness
The deck is currently at 28 cards, so now lets add the essential staples to the deck,
Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon, Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute and Call Of The Haunted. This makes the deck 33 cards with 11 magics and 3 traps, giving us 7 spaces to use.
So what other techs can we add to make the deck run smoother. Well we want to have a good field advantage so I suggest adding in two Miracle Fertalizer, they have synergy to the deck and can allow for a powerful open play. Now lets take a look at what can give your deck to help out that OTK possibility, my suggestion is adding in United We Stand, as your deck has great swarm potential and this will give you the chance to use that sawrm, it's searchable by both Powertool and Hidden Armory, and can offer for a means out of a bad situation.
This gives us 4 more spots to use in the deck, So lets look at our traps, the first to be added in will be 2 copies of Bottomless Trap Hole as these are almost essential in the current meta. Now that puts us up to 5 trap cards and 2 card spaces left to spare, so I will throw in a copy of Ultimate Offering, this allows you to not only summon during your turn, but summon during your opponents, you can use it to summon your gemini monsters again to give them their effects and use it to put a UFO Turtle or Mystic Tomato into play during your opponents battle phase forcing them to either waste a card to elminate them (usually ending the battle phase) or force them to attack and waste an attack.
So now we have 1 free spot open, so I am going to use those spots to add 1 copy of Lightning Vortex.
So lets look at the deck's finished product:
Monsters: 19
3x Gigaplant
2x Lonefire Blossom
3x UFO Turtle
2x Blazewing Butterfly
2x Nettles
1x Copy Plant
1x Dandylion
1x Plaguespreader Zombie
1x Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
1x Sangan
2x Mystic Tomato
Magics: 15
3x Supervise
2x Hidden Armory
2x Allure of Darkness
2x Mark of the Rose
2x Miracle Fertalizer
1x United We Stand
1x Heavy Storm
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Lightning Vortex
Traps: 6
1x Mirror Force
1x Torrential Tribute
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
1x Ultimate Offering
1x Call Of The Haunted
So now we have our deck, So lets figure our what our extra deck will look like.
Extra Deck: 15
3x Powertool Dragon
2x Stardust Dragon
1x Colossal Fighter
1x Goyo Gaurdian
1x Black Rose Dragon
1x Magical Android
1x Brionic Dragon
1x Blackwing Armor Master
1x Ancient Fairy Dragon
1x Thought Ruler Archfiend
1x Red Dragon Archfiend
1x X-Saber Urbellum
That should do for now, but it's completely up to you how you make your extra deck.
Well I hope this will inspire and help you with your Gigavise decks, until next time, peace.
So today I am here to not only discuss this new deck, but to explain the way the deck should run. So lets begin with the decks main engin.

holyshadow:
Well I hadn't had the chance to see Black Brutdrago, so sadly I didn't include him in it, but then again the extra deck is just an idea of what to run, but you should run 2-3 powertool dragons to be sure to have the otk.
SF3rStrike:
With allure at 2 you don't need many darks (same applys to those who only run 5 destiny heros with 2-3 destiny draws, same concept) agreed that 5 is a small #, but then again you can't expect to highten the deck count and still have the same effect with the deck, nor can you steer away from it's main purpose. Basically Allure is just to draw when you have little options. You don't have to run Allure if you don't want to, I chose it because I have rather high luck when it comes to drawing into cards for my Allures, but you can just as easily run Reckless Greed or any draw card of your choice.
Thank you all for the comments and feedback.Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 07:19 PM by WafflesofChaos

I've seen it, it has many interesting cards, but few that will alter game play. The one I see being a big hit will be the anticipated Dark Simorgh, a card that will make control decks very powerful. I had planned on writing a piece on Simorgh Fragrance control, a devistating deck using Dark Simorgh with Anti-Spell Fragrance.Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 09:06 PM by WafflesofChaos

Yes they do look promising, esspectialy Shutendoji and Dark Simorgh. I personaly want to test out deck ideas with the new reptile monsters in my Venominaga deck. I also finaly got a view on the new Black Brutdrago. I have hopes for it. It does have potential if comboed with Gigaplant and Supervise, but I only see it being run at one, and only if you can't find anything better. It will only be played as either a last resort or for its high power to attack over monsters or into a Judgment Dragon.Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 10:10 PM by WafflesofChaos

To be honest, I don't like the deck very much. The inconsistent allure engine bugs me a lot. Five targets is no where near how many you need to be able to sustain it. And no, it is not the same as D-Draw engine; the two are extremely unrelated in this case.
Also, why the two Nettles? He is a dead draw in hand and you only need one for Gigaplant.Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 04:37 AM by tcwalter07

Great post. I tested this deck last weekend, and I love it. I wrote it up for a blog post, but I was hoping to keep it under wraps until my local tourney this weekend because some of the guys I play with read these blogs. Here's the build I was using:
2 Gigaplant
2 Lonefire Blossom
2 Tytannial, Princess of Camellias
2 Blazewing Butterfly
3 UFO Turtle
2 Lord Poison
2 Copy Plant
1 Nettles
1 Sangan
1 Dandylion
1 Card Trooper
3 Hidden Armory
3 Supervise
2 Mark of the Rose
2 Gold Sarcophagus
2 Miracle Fertilizer
1 Heavy Storm
1 Giant Trunade
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Call of the Haunted
I don't have Power Tools yet, so I tested with some other outcomes of the deck, and it can win without OTKing. Tytannial LOVES Gigaplant with Supervise, and synchroing for Black Rose Dragon can punch through the defenses of a turtling opponent.
I even used Copy Plant + Lord Poison in a game to make Stardust Dragon and won a game I thought I had no chance in.
Yeah, the combo is nasty, but it has a lot more game than just that.

Why can't you use Pot of Avarice over Allure of Darkness? You can always tribute another lonefire for the same combo, PoA can send synchros and fusions back, and 5 targets for Allure of Darkness isn't stable at all (2.5 targets per card is miserable when the target+card must be drawn).Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 09:33 AM by Zeroblizzard

tcwalter07: I have had comments towards the Allure engine, some good some bad, mostly the Allure engin is based on only 2 Allures so the chance in drawing into more then 1 before the game ends is slim. Allure was added not just as draw power, but more to rid the hand of a monster that couldn't handle the current sitution. You should find no problem in waiting for a dark if you draw into Allure or just discarding it with Lightning Vortex.
I am looking into finding something to replace it, but currently there isn't anything that won't harm your card pressence or doesn't require it's own specific engine that would take away from the deck.
darlingnobaka: Yes the deck has great potential even without Powertools, but the Powertools allow for an explosive turn that Lightsworn and Blackwings have, even if you don't get the OTK with him. Looking over your deck I noticed cards that I had considered using myself. You will have to pm me and let me know how it performs in your tourney.
Zeroblizzard: Well as with PoA its a very situational card requiring 5 monsters in your grave, which chances are you will want in your grave for Gigaplant, Miracle Fertilizer or Mark of the Rose. Personaly IMO PoA is a card best left for decks that either rely heavily on a toolbox or mill through their cards easily. I had conssidered PoA as a possibility, but testing showed that it either became a dead draw or the cards I put back didnt justify what I got in return. Although like I said I am looking into other draw engins (even considering trying reckless greeds).
Thanks again for all your comments and feed back.Posted 2 Weeks Ago at 02:10 PM by WafflesofChaos
