alrighty then, theres the 8 Time spiral cards I needed to finish my U/R box-in control deck, 4 Ancesteal Visions, 4 Magus of the Scroll.. lots of brokenness, that im sure theres no way in hell i'll be able to afford

Now to raise the question, who has the bigger target? This little guy or Jaya? lol

Much, much nicer than Jaya, and solifuge's best friend.

Not quite grim lavamancer though, and summoning sickness more than offsets the 1 power earlier in the game. What's more, the environment is much more X/3 than when cursed scroll was ruining games way back when.

in my opinion, what this does is make Satanic Sligh just flat out wicked. This guy, Bob, plenty of 1 drop creatures and burn = ridiculous amounts of fast damage, suddenly mid-late game land draws are now 3 cost shocks, when you've already got insane amounts of dmamage on the board, and bob feeding you more. I could be wrong, but this thing really looks nuts

Isnt better than Scroll in vintage tho.. one of the reasons Cursed scroll was used in vintage is because of the colorless source of damage. Altho this is better early in the game for attacking. hm...

PS: Now both 2 Magus cards has been "reprint" of powerful artifacts. probably the rest of the colors will be aswell

hes good but not THat good back in the day the main reason that mad scroll so cheating was it was an artifact whick means It dished ou colorless DD (be afraind palli en vec ve very afraid) no the less hes goood for an raly drop Jay is still a big target bloing up blu pemas i makes you bublic enemy number 1.

i saw someone post scroll... i was thinking cursed(happy because i got some its great)...i come here just to get a the same but a creature... wow!

i'm just amazed at the cards they released so far... do they just want an open type 2? no real metagame(3 or less decks that just destroy, or just 1) there are no true metagame in current type 2, because rogue decks win. and these annoying netdecks. you check the main page for standard in this forums... there is at least 8 decks stickyed... if they keep it this wide open, the game will remain fun for even a longer period of time... but imo blue atm is being supercharged.

This card is really, really good. I don't think it's better than Cursed Scroll, but it will be valuable and highly played. Maybe a red based sligh deck with this and Jaya.

Blue supercharged? Blue's been crapped on for like the past 5 blocks. It's about time we got some attention. Not that I think we are being supercharged... I don't think ancestral vision and Teferi are game breaking cards. What we need is a decent counterspell.

What's the black Magus?

I hope the blue one is not Jayemdae Tome, and the Green is not Black Lotus. :P Fat chance of those though since creatures doing those effects in those colors have been around for a long time.

*** EDIT

Would be interesting to see:

Magus of the Jar
Magus of the Brooch
Magus of the Rod
Magus of the Universe. That would be funky.

Black = Mirror Universe
Blue = Memory Jar (rumor)
Green = Candelabra of Tawnos (rumor)
White = Larry Niven's Disk
Red = Cursed Scroll

For all intents and purposes, this is more of a mid-game drop than an early game drop... you don't want to give the opp too much opportunity to hit it, while you want to reduce the "random" reveal down to a single card if possible.

I still think Jaya has the bigger bullseye because of her versatility, but the Scroll Magus has a laser dot focused between the eyes...

This crazy critter + Mogg Fanatic (10th, SWEET set) + Jaya + New Wheel of Fortune = Red's fancy new comeback!

Green and Red decks will be in action, no doubt.

If there is some ridiculous way to abuse graveyards you can bet on a R/B deck coming out with this little guy putting pressure on the whole time... phyrexian arena will make sure you have a full hand for them to make guesses at the whole time.

Why do I have the strang felling sligh is coming back in a big way?

Sligh is coming back really good. Maybe it's also because Wizards is into nostalgia.

I'm either with Sligh or UR Counter-Burn when TS comes out.

I'm not so sure Wheel of Fortune goes well with the Magus. He needs a relatively small hand to work properly, and 7 cards gives a 15% chance to hit the needed random card.

No but they are good cards. I have looked at the spoiler, and believe me, there is at least one sickly good counterspell in this set, im me if you want to discuss it.

Good creature, can be used in a gruul deck to enable bloodthirst and for mid game power, Its a lot better than gruul guildmage.

That's what I thought too, except the Candelabra. Forgot about that one.

Magus of the Universe
Magus of the Jar
Magus of the Scroll
Magus of the Disk
Magus of the Candelabra

The first one just sounds so funky, the last one sound so stupid. :)

Red and Green were never gone.

I can see Sligh decks making one hell of a comeback. Between this guy, the pyrogirl, the 5 damage for 1 red, and Wheel of Fortune wannabe, it's gonna be a coup. I mean, come on, in a Sligh deck 5 damage for 1 with suspend is as good as 5 damage for 1 on the spot.

The only thing missing is a Fireblast replacement.

I was going to say this card sucked before I realized its damage was colored. Now it sucks more IMO.

Cursed Scroll was an artifact, and there are always fewer ways to kill artifacts than creatures. ONE-toughness creatures, even.

I'd feel differently if it had a toughness of five. But it doesn't.

R

Rakavolver

R is good. And on turn two you'll find :3: how? Birds? Elves? Serendipity?

Will your opponent find Shock, Seal of Fire, Char, Psionic Blast, Pyroclasm, Stormbind (the better card than this), Wrath, Magnus of the Disk, Magnus of the Scroll (amazing that, eh?), Mortify, Putrefy, Jaya Ballard, Ivory Mask, and I'm sure there's others? Oh, and there's countering cards if not drawn and played first turn.

I guess you own Monogreen. Maybe.

It's simply NOT Cursed Scroll, Galvatron, don't think it is.

Said I thought it was? I know iyts not I played with scrolls in high school when tempest was type 2 legal. Its mor like grim lavamancer that wabts to be a sc an yess you bend the chan server over that is monogreen. In every carde cycle like this 2 cards get the short end of the stick
