Hey all,
I'm a complete beginner at Yu-Gi-Oh (started quite literally three days ago), but I'm a reasonably old hand at Magic and I like to think I know the rudiments of deck construction. Anyway, here's my Traditional deck, which I built off of the Kaiba Evolution starter, the Dragon's Roar structure, and a couple cards gleaned from various sources.

Given the limited budget of the deck, it's a pretty straightforward beatdown with some handpicked effect monsters to get the heavy hitters out on the field in short order.

Here goes:

Monsters:
2 Armed Dragon LV3
2 Armed Dragon LV5
1 Bazoo the Soul-Eater
1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon
1 Kaiser Sea Horse
1 Lord of D.
1 Luster Dragon
3 Masked Dragon
1 Mystic Tomato
1 Opticlops
1 Red-Eyes B. Chick
1 Red-Eyes B. Dragon
1 Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon
1 The Dragon dwelling in the Cave
1 Witch of the Black Forest

Spells:
1 Change of Heart
1 Megamorph
1 Monster Reborn
2 Nobleman of Crossout
1 Pot of Greed
1 Premature Burial
3 Stamping Destruction
1 Swords of Revealing Light
1 The Flute of Summoning Dragon

Traps:
1 Burst Breath
1 D. Tribe
1 Dragon's Rage
1 Raigeki Break
1 Shadow Spell
1 Trap Hole
1 Trap Jammer
1 Waboku

Card suggestions should please take into consideration that I have an extremely limited budget (max probably $20 total).

Thanks in advance for the advice! :)

i would never ever mix a red eyes and blue eyes deck together and anyways both are very weak in my opionion(i used to play a red eyes deck and it sucked and my friend played a blue eyes deck and it kinda sucked
also NEVER EVER try to do too much at once you should choose to play a blue eyes, red eyes, or armed dragon deck (i would personally play a armed dragon deck
welcome to yugioh and i play magic and yugioh too

Well, I'll admit that Red-Eyes is pretty worthless with my present budget (no Black Skull Dragon, etc.). But (and here I'm just curious; I haven't been at the game long enough to know) what's wrong with mixing dragon types? It seems that you can use stuff like Witch of the Black Forest and Flute of Dragon Summoning on pretty much anything that falls into the category, for example.

also NEVER EVER try to do too much at once you should choose to play a blue eyes, red eyes, or armed dragon deck (i would personally play a armed dragon deck

Armed Dragons are pretty, cool, you're right. Unfortunately, on my present budget, I doubt I can afford three Armed Dragon LV7 and an extra LV3 and LV5. What would you recommend I do while I save for the really powerful cards?

Also, thanks for the welcome. What kind of deck do you run in Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic?

well you have more chances of drawing cards and using them and you are more concertrated on one stratgey
i would buy another dragon madness deck or buy from me ( i got 3x lv 5 and 1x lv 7
or after buyign the deck just save and buy lv7 (its preety expensive

Ur deck needs more good cards in every section (monsters, trap, spell)
You should add more 1900 att cards in ur deck (or 1800). You should try getting Armed Dragon LV7. Put dark hole in ur deck too. By the way u should staple some of ur cards. Hey all,

I've reworked my deck a bit using some cards on hand. Still working on getting the Armed Lv7s and Tyrant:

Monsters:
2 Armed Dragon Lv3
2 Armed Dragon Lv5
1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon
1 Kaiser Sea Horse
1 Lord of D.
2 Luster Dragon
3 Masked Dragon
1 Mystic Tomato
1 Opticlops
1 Red-Eyes B. Chick
1 Red-Eyes B. Dragon
1 Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon
1 Spirit Ryu
1 The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave
1 Witch of the Black Forest

Spells:
1 Change of Heart
1 Dark Hole
1 Flute of Summoning Dragon
1 Heavy Storm
1 Megamorph
1 Monster Reborn
2 Nobleman of Crossout
1 Pot of Greed
1 Premature Burial
1 Snatch Steal
1 Stamping Destruction
1 Swords of Revealing Light

Traps:
1 Burst Breath
1 Call of the Haunted
1 D. Tribe
1 Dragon's Rage
1 Dust Tornado
1 Shadow Spell
1 Trap Hole

As you can see, I reworked my spells and traps somewhat, and put Bazoo out in favour of Spirit Ryu, since Spirit Ryu is a dragon and has a cost of use more consistent with my deck's large number of resurrections and searchers.

Here are some other cards I have I'm considering swapping into my deck:

Axe of Despair
Fairy Meteor Crush
Luster Dragon #2
Malevolent Nuzzler
Riryoku Field
Rush Recklessly
Seven Tools of the Bandit
Soul Exchange
The Graveyard in the Fourth Dimension

In a couple games I've played with another deck, I've found Fairy Meteor, Axe, Nuzzler, and Rush to be excellent cards in a pinch, but on the other hand, I don't want to kill some of the other good spells and traps I already have in the deck.

If these are all the cards you’ve got then your doing the best you can. If you want to improve it, everything outside of the masked dragon/armed dragon sequence needs to focus on only one thing, protecting you and getting red eyes/red eyes darkness out.

Swap Blue Eyes for another Red Eyes

Swap out Bazoo, Opticlops, Dragon in the cave for more 1900 Lusters or Spear Dragons.

Drop Kaiser for another Red Eyes Black Chick (He’s only used for Blue eyes)

For Lord D, Mystic Tomato. I’m not a fan of Lord of D. Its too easily killed, and having one is too situational, requiring you to wait and draw "horn" and have the right cards in your hand. In my deck I run another red eyes and red eyes darkness in these cards place. Maybe two is too much, but i like knowing they are in there. Twin headed behemoth is also a handy card as it comes back helping with one card on the field for tributing for LV5 or even red eyes.

For spells traps, I concentrate on ensuring protection for LV3 – ie Trap Hole, Shadow spell, Rush Recklessly, Fissure. Also Inferno Fire Blast works good here for red eyes once he is on the field. Couple of them. – expensive though. You need more spell/trap destroying cards. 3 x Stamping Destruction is more like it. A handy 500 LP destroyed as well. Replace either Heavy Storm or Dust Tornado with some of these. Soul Exchange is good, helps with tributing again if needed. As you need to cards to get Red Eyes on the field.

The good thing is you can keep all the lusters/Spear amd Masked/Armed dragons and swap out the Red Eyes Theme for a blue eyes theme for a change now and again.

Ie

3 Red Eyes – 3 Blue Eyes

2 Black Chick – 2 Kaiba Man

2 Darkness – 2 Paladin of White Dragon

2 Inferno Fireblast – 2 Burst Stream of Destruction.

Same with the Armed Dragons, They can be changed out for Horus. In this case instead of the Masked Dragons run 2 x Solar Flare dragon for a bit of fun. Not strickly dragons but they should be. Otherwise run a couple of element dragons - they like the fire!!!!

personally I like Horus and the Armed Dragons, but i hate the REBD, but w/e its ur deck.
BTW I play Yu-Gi-Oh and magic as well (althoguh i haven't played magic in awhile)

I have never made a good dragon deck, but there are a lot of good cards out now to make a good dragon deck.

First decide what dragon you want as your main tribute dragon...for example blue eyes or tyrant dragon or the redeyes combos

Then build your deck around those monsters, putting in cards that will help you get those monsters out quicker.
the red-eyes cards are great combos for getting redeyes darkness out quick.
The armed dragon cards are also good for quick special summons.

My personal favorite, but not as quick as my last 2 examples, is paladin/ blue eyes combo. (but then, blue eyes is my favorite dragon so I might be biased)

And also, don't forget lord of d and flute combo. If you go this way, 3 of each is what I suggest.

Tyrant Dragon is good because you can attack a second time if your opponenet still has a monster on the field.

Kaiser Glider is also a good dragon to think about

Definitely get a few more 1900's and go 4 a tyrant dragon when you can afford it.

I used to run lv. dragons w/ Red eyes.

if u want the decklist just post back, but it isnt a low budget deck.

(I threw in the towel with dragons, and went for a C.C.C.)
