Wild speculation: MaRo's cryptic hints

Well, the end of MaRo's column had a bunch of hints as to stuff coming into Time Spiral. Combined with orb of insight, I'm sure we can crack em.


an angel that costs two mana (yes, that angel, and no she's not some wimpy 2/2)
a female legend that players have been begging us to do for a long time
a new hermit with a love of tokens and an old keyword (but not the same one)
a direct damage spell that can do 5 damage for a single red mana
a new Lotus (oh wait, you've already seen that one)
a Power Nine card with buyback
a card with the word “squirrel” in its rules text
a legend who uttered one of the most popular lines of flavor text of all time
and a cycle of artifact mana sources that turn into creatures from the Reserved List


And new card names:

Liege of the Pit
Magus of the Candelabra
Stuffy Doll
Vesuvan Shapeshifter
Wheel of Fate

There are only three Power Nine cards that could have buyback: Ancestral Recall, Time Walk, and Timetwister.

Probably. But perhaps for a player. Suspending on a creature is risky.

my guess on the power nine with buyback is time walk. it's fits the name Time Spiral. all they need to do is give it a buyback of sac some lands or skip something like your untap phase. unless they are reprinting Time Spiral itself. they need something like it. maybe Timetwister with buyback. it won't be too broken. as for Ancestral Recall it would have to have the buyback of discarding cards with it. and still that would be broken as hell. as for the rest i still can't figure out the reprint of the cycle of artifact mana sources that turn into creatures from the Reserved List. i just can't think of it. if anyone knows please let me know. it's driving me nuts

I see two possibilities, either it's a sorcery speed ancestral recall with buyback or a flip a coin time walk with buyback :)

Since Ancestral is on the Orb of Insight and Twister isn't, I'm going with Sorcery speed card draw with buyback. Thinking....3 cards for 4 mana...buyback 5?

sorcery speed card drawing in no way resembles a P9 so it cant be 3 cards for 4. it has to cost the same as the original and have some kind of drawback otherwise it wont remind us of its older brother(ancestral/walk/twister)

it really think about it ancestral at sorcery speed is still broken. it's the whole part of drawing 3 cards. look at tiddings. it cost 5 and is played. there is no way they will print ancestral. i'm voting time walk. who here would thinks time spiral (the card) is the card they are talking about. or maybe something like that. make it cost the same but no mak it free and give it buyback. as for the cycle of artifact mana sources that turn into creatures from the Reserved List could he mean man lands. they make artifact mana (colorless). if so that would be nuts.. they will really good

I strongly think it will be an Ancestral since it is showing up on the orb, but for it's draw back I'm not to sure.

I think it will be a Walk because there's an "extra" word in the orb.

a female legend that players have been begging us to do for a long time If she weren't a planeswalker, she would have been in Coldsnap. That's the great thing about messing with time; you can grab people from before they became too powerful to put on a card.

and a cycle of artifact mana sources that turn into creatures from the Reserved List I've seen some very educated guesses on this one, but I've yet to see anyone get all five correct in the same post.

The hermit esque creature has morph... it is a cheap morph that puts a token into play (saproling i think) I heard this at our game shop yesterday as the owner browsed some forums

That's correct, the Hermit is called Thelonite hermit and it has morph. I won't post the actual card because then I'll get banned, but it puts saprolings into play when it's turned face up and gives all Saprolings +1/+1. That's all I'm saying.
