Ok I am supposed to fight this kid about my size / age, I don't know if has skillz or anything, should I "hit below the belt", or give him a fair fight?

I am not surprised that it is you aking this sort of a question. Fighting never solved anything. Well except for wars. But thats beside the point. If you realy do want to fight, do it as a sport. Not like the movie Fight Club, or anything like that. But like Boxing, wrestling(fake) or Mixed Martial Arts. And depending on how a fight starts it could be concidered assalt by the police. Just be careful, not stupid.

Done, and done, surprisingly the guy I fought tried it first, however I was prepared for that, and when he got his leg half way up, I knoced the wind out of him.

Sorta, after a while we both realized that we were in a public area, and I told him we gotta do this in private.

He quickly agreed since he could barely walk.

Fighting is usually only a last resort. If it happens as a result of planning you are definitely doing something wrong.

Having established that, if you are in a physical conflict the best way to get out of it safely is to swiftly and immediately use overwhelming force and disable your opponent before the same can be done to you. If that means you have to squeeze a nut till it pops then, well, better him than you.
