So far, I've talked to Nem, RLRL, Elliot*, Anti, Stel, Cinders, Kimi*, Gary, and Albatross over the computer on mics. Nem says Gary sounds like me :p

RLRL sounds like Elliot, and El sounded like Stel at one point.

On the phone, I've only talked to Lee. :p He's got a kewl voice, but he's not as funny as he is typographically. But I talked to him and burned $2 of precious prepaid minutes!

I have no clue to any of the pokeschool members true identities, I have only spoken to Lugiasian, Prea and Happenstance on the internet and im rather sure to a few people from Pokeschool Big brother 2 when i was plotting and scheming.

My mic has never wanted to work so I haven't been able to talk with anyone from Pokeschool... I have talked to Stel, though - for the people who know him - and I have met an online friend in real life before. It was a pretty fun experience :)

At this point, I feel very, very old, because I've been meeting people from the net since 1995. All but 2 of my close friends are people I met online, and even those 2 arguably are only friends because of the net - Tim, my best friend from college, I started talking to in real life because we were both always in the computer room; and Lizz, my best friend from childhood, I only managed to stay in contact with after I moved away from the small town we grew up in because she had email at home. I Did Not meet the partner I live with online, but we met in a pub where I'd gone to meet his housemate, who was someone I'd met online.

Let's see... interesting stories about people I've met online... I have:
- been to over 10 talker meets [1] (can't possibly count them now...)
- been to over 10 mud meets [2]
- had random people from the Wildhearts mailing list to stay just about every time the Wildhearts or a related band played London in the last 9 years
- spent 10 days going round Holland staying with people I met on the mud
- visited Seattle-friends a couple of times
- spent 3 days staying in a small town in New York state with someone I met on irc

and every 9 months, a bunch of people (~20-100) who know each other from a certain newsgroup get together in a hotel somewhere in the world (e.g. Edmonton & Toronto, Canada; Boston, Colorado Springs, Seattle, USA; Brighton, UK) for 3 days of real-time chat, eating, gaming and crafting. Last one was in Baltimore in January, next one is in San Diego in October. Am planning to generally descend on the West coast of the US in general ;).

Safety? Well, I've only really had 1 unpleasant experience, and I never actually got as far as meeting that person. I wouldn't go to meet someone if I didn't know their real name, phone number and address at the very least, and if I hadn't been talking to that person for at least a few months. If I'm going to meet someone on my own, I'll post about it in my livejournal, and give the name, phone number, net handle and email address of the person to my partner or mum or both. But other than that, *shrug*. It helps that I'm (now) 28 and know how to look after myself - though the only times I've ever had to use self-defence were with strangers who approached me on the street.

I havent talked to anyone outside of these forums on the phone.. and barely on the microphone.. maybe thats how things should be kept. No one would want to hear how i talk, im totally like a stoner and no one would be able to understand me. Naw naw im jay paying, but i for real have intersts no one else here really has and all of that. Plus the way i talk. And i probably wouldnt be able to hold a convo, you know why ;)
