We are currently accepting challengers!
Welcome to the Pokemon Resource Center!
Trainers are welcomed from all around the world to take their pokemon and to battle against the leaders Jamison and Rainer. If you manage to become victorious throughout the one on one battle then your pokemon will have a chance to learn a unique attack that it normally couldnt learn through level up, TM, HM, nor egg, and it may keep that move for as long as you would like!
Rules -
- You must use the pokemon in battle you want to learn the special move.
- We will create the battle topic.
- Standard Battle Rules
- One Vs One
- Failing to respond within 3 days results in an automatic loss.
- If you win then you must wait a complete month before you may challenge again.
- If you lose then you must wait 2 weeks before you may challenge again.
- Through the course of battling the pokemon that battle will not gain EXP nor will they be able to evolve anytime in their participation.
- Challenger may choose the Pokemon of his/her opponent from the Battle List, and fight that specific Pokemon for the chance of getting a special move. However, Challengers that chose to take this route will attack second in the battle, and Jamison/Rainer may alter the field before the battle to their advantages. If Challenger does not choose Rainer/Jamison's Pokemon, Challenger may attack first, and the battle field will be a normal one
- If you wish to choose which pokemon you want to battle, you must choose one pokemon from Antisuperheroguy and another from Blastoise. We will choose whom you battle afterwards.
The Pokemon that defeated Jamison / Rainer will get a ribbon, and a special move.
Special moves are given to the trainer by Antisuperheroguy or Blastoise (usually three attacks), the winner may choose one of those and have their Pokemon learn it permenantly.
You may only keep one Special move on a Pokemon at a time. Any time you get the chance to teach a new Special Move to your Pokemon, you MUST erase the older one to get the new one. If you challenge with a Pokemon with the Special Ribbon, the cluster of attacks given to the winning Pokemon will include better moves.
Now if your wondering about the list of moves that your pokemon may learn, its completly random depending on their Egg Groups. If your pokemon has more then one Egg Group then it is able to learn a much larger variety of different moves. Battling through with one pokemon only reveals to you about 1/3rd of the available attacks; so it would be wise to keep battling with the same pokemon to see all of the available attacks to make your pokemon the strongest it can be.
If you wish to challenge either leader, PM your challenge to Blastoise only, don't forget to put Pokemon Resource Center in the title. Also, if you wish to choose Jamison or Rainer's Pokemon for them, put it in the PM.
If you win the battle then you will be sent a PM which will contain three attacks, out of the three attacks you may PM us one of the moves back of your choice. The move you PM us will be the attack that your pokemon will know. You must show in your profile that your pokemon has obtained the attack and the number of Special Ribbons it has recieved.
I wanna thank Blastoise for writing almost all of this ^^

Here's a list of victors that triumph through The Pokemon Resource Center, those who have won their Special Ribbon, Special Attack, pride and honor. These Trainers have shown the ability to train their Pokemon with care, and the ability to battle with absolute determinations.
The Trainer will be listed by their name, then Pokemon name, the number of Special Ribbons won, and finally, the Special Attack they earned.
Katie
- Chuchino (Pikachu) (1) - Refresh
Val
- Ecko (Shiny Grovyle) (1) - Super Fang
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a list of the Pokemon that Rainer will use to take on any challengers of The Pokemon Resource Center. Some of these Pokemon may evolve in mainstream battle, and I will replace them. You have an edge as you can choose Rainer's Pokemon before the battle, but beware the draw back. (Read Above)
Rainer
- Absol (Night) - HP Grass
- Quilava - HP Dragon
- Spike (Shiny Sandslash) - HP Fire
- Hydra (Dratini) - HP Dark
- Metang - HP Grass
- Ivysaur - HP Rock
- Ditto - Varies with Transform
- Arbok - HP Flying
- Murkow - HP Fighting
- Aero (Aerodactyl) - HP Fire
- Misdreavus - HP Fire
Feel free to post any questions or comments, I will try to answer any questions that are not answered by Anti's previous post. Thank you for reading.

What about Pokemon with already approved of special moves, e.g. High Jump Kicking Chinchou? Would they lose that attack, or would they keep it as before, since it wasn't a reward from this.
And Blastoise, Water Spout, not Water SpRout in your signature.
I'm thinking of using Thyra for this challenge, but I'm still not sure who to use... Weepinbell would be nice. *begs for Spark*

Your pokemon loses the old attack. However you dont have to get rid of the old attack if you dont want to.
Just for a note because i dont remember if i made it before.
The amounts of ribbons you have on a pokemon when you battle really counts.

Yes, the attacks we give out to your Pokemon is based on Egg types and ribbons, and later on it might even be determined by its Type. However, right now, Type is not a factor.
Another thing, some attacks are IMPOSSIBLE to learn, Resource Center or not. You can't expect a Starmie using Hydro Cannon right? It doesnt have any cannons. Thus, the attack cluster (usually consists of three attacks) that is given to you to choose ONE for your Pokemon, generally contains reasonable and possible attacks.

Will there ever be an "Impossible Attribute" topic? Not immediately, but someday, will it be possible? *cough*Keen/CompoundEyeYanma*cough*

The Pokemon Resource Center only awards Special Moves, it does not have any power to shift its attributes, or natures for that matter. (Lee ^^). But creative a topic for all the "Impossible Moves..."
Well... there is an idea, but it is just that it would be a mountain load of work... a very very tall mountain. There are so many different attacks and Pokemon out there, and most of them are not compatible with each other.
The most basic ones are 'inverse types' - You dont expect a pure Water Type suddently shooting out a jet of Flame Thrower, do you? However, some fire attacks could be given to Water Pokemon, but it is deteremined by their Egg Type. (ie. Milotic is Water Type, yet it has a Dragon Egg group attribute. We DO offer Flame Wheel as one of the move a Pokemon with a Dragon Egg group. It is how you describe it in battles that really counts. By creative... ^^)
Another thing is Exclusive Moves. What I mean by 'Exclusive Moves' is certain attacks that can be learned by a few to one Pokemon. A handfull quickly comes to mind - Transform(Ditto/Mew), Super Power (Nidoqueen and Regis), all of the starters have an unique moves of their own. We will try to keep these Exlusive Moves to their original Pokemon, as they only stand out because of that. (What's Ditto without a Transform???)
All in all, the special moves you get is heavily determined by the Egg type, as the for the "Impossible Moves" topic, I'll look into it, but dont get your hopes up.

After Dragon Lord and my battle finishes, watch out for a Pokemon Resouce Center tournament... it will be small, only four people allowed. The first people that sign up and meet the requirements (later will be revealed) will be able to enter.
Rules and details will be revealed later on.

Hey guys. I'm proud to say that I'm newest member of the PRC. I'm always open for challanges and I'm not going to go easy on anyone that I face. Keep in mind, as with any PRC battle, you can choose the pokemon that I use but if you do I get to change the field to my advantage. I'm not totally sure that it's offical that I'm allowed to take challanges here yet, but I will as soon as Blastoise gives the word.
The pokemon of Val's that you can battle are:
Ecko (Shiny Sceptile)
Seth (Smeargle)
Kima (Bagon)
Fuji (Heracross)
Pogo (Vigoroth)
Matu (Espeon)
Agro (Umbreon)

Yea, Dragon Lord is now an offical member of the Pokemon Resource Center. However, all challenges will still be PMed to me, and you may not choose which trainer to fight (if you're choosing a Pokemon, then choose one for Rainer, and one for Val, and we'll choose who you would fight).
To Dragon Lord - remember that if you get more Pokemon, take out Blaziken and your other strong Pokemon, since you only have a few number of Pokemon right now, that would not be a problem.... Another thing, remember that you cannot have Smeargle learn any moves in here with Paint, (It can only learn moves in mainstream PRP) that's under the main PRP rules.

Alright, since neither Nem or Gary (before he was demoted) added in any information on the resource center to the main PRP Rules thread I added a small section about it myself. It's easy to miss it, though, so I'd like to ask you guys a favour.
Would you be able to write up a summary of the rules for the Resource Center, perferablly one that's up to date (meaning with Dragon Lord included over Anti)? I could do it myself but since you guys know what you want mentioned I'll leave it up to you ;)
Just PM whatever you want included to me and I'll edit it into the Rules topic. Thanks for your time.

PRC got unstickied due to its lack of activity, but that doesnt mean I am shutting it down. As I promised a while ago, there will be a small scale tournament - hopefully this will let members know that PRC actually exists, and if activity goes up, maybe it will get re-stickied.
Though people can sign up for this tournament, I am giving out invites to several people, they are:
Linkachu
Bullados
Dragon Lord
Yoshi
These four have a spot reserved for them in the tournament, if they wish to enter. To confirm or decline your invites, please PM me. For those who wish to still join, that is perfectly okay. HOWEVER, spots are first come first served, and I will have a cut off number (even number). Dates for the start of the tournament is currently undetermined, however, the rules are set.
Rules:
Normal battle rules, no items
Three Pokemon Each
*Rounds will be single eliminations. The first one to knockout the opponent claims the victory and a position in the next round.
Limited Moveset Rule
*This tournament will be different from the others. Competitors are to PM their team of three Pokemon to me before entering the tournament. Along with each Pokemon, please include a list of eight moves from that Pokemon's Movepool (whether Eggs, Level-up, TMs/Hms, or previous PRC moves). These Pokemon can ONLY use those eight moves throughout the remainder of the tournament. Winners of each round can drop two of eight current existing moves from the Pokemon movepool, and choose two different moves from the movepool. This should be done in PM once again.
NOTE: Moves that severely restrict the movepool of your opponent are not allowed. Some of these moves are: Taunt, Imprison, Torment, ect.
Seven-day rule
*This should go without explanation. However, if you know that you cannot commit to this rule, then please do not join the tournament. Of course, special circumstances are okay, but please PM me about trips (etc) ahead of time.
Field
*The first poster gets the control of the field. Meaning, in describing their entrance into the field, they also can describe the field to whatever they want. Moreover, the first poster gets to attack first, as usual.
Prizes and Awards
Depending on the number of rounds, a number of PRC Ribbons (read the first post if you want to know what they are) are awarded. One of your three Pokemon gets a special PRC Move. Also, a list of basic Pokemon will be listed later on. Winner of the tournament also takes one of those Pokemon as a prize. (That Pokemon with be packed with one PRC move and TWO PRC Ribbons.)
I believe that's everything. Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to post them here or PM me. If you are not on the invite list, you can just post here for the spot, then PM me your team. I am trying my best to revive PRC and I cant do it with your help.
Thanks for reading and I hope you would participate.
Sincerely,
Blastoise.

Well, this sounds like an interesting competition. I have found it (for some strange reason) much easier to come by and at least check things out around here over the past week or so. I guess you could say that is due to me finally being finished with exams. (w00t)
Anyway, I have been looking for something too try, and this feels just like something that I would enjoy doing. Unlike just a regular thread, higher stakes are held in this (if you will) and it will somewhat force me to check often and be active. That is something I want too happen, so I would love to participate in this competition.
If anyone keeps tabs with my RP character, then you would know that I only have three Pokémon that can participate with, but I will follow the requested rules and send in a note with all the required information.
I thank you Blastoise for being one that continues to keep this section alive and kicking. And I also thank you for offering this competition for us to participate in.

Wait. I can't use my Taunt/Imprison/Torment Ralts in the competition? Seriously, those moves are not as broken in an 8 move pool as you think they are. Taunt means that you can't use nonattack moves, not very limiting there. Imprison limits 8 total attacks. Wow, it's not as powerful there than in regular RP battling. Torment means that you can't use the same move twice in a row, instead of twice in a battle. In order to make them more usable in the RP rules, it was necessary to redefine their respective powers. However, when you limit the number of attacks a Pokemon can use, you also revert the trap attacks to their original GB form. Please let us use those moves!
I'm waiting to see who else signs up for this. It should be much more interesting than the current tourney, at least, as the people who sign up should at least be active...

Sorry Bullados, but my standing on those three attacks still stand. Here are the reasons:
1. Imprison - probably the weakest of the three in this format, due to the low numbers of attacks to start with anyways. However, Imprison can be still effective against common Egg moves such as Substitute, or common TM moves such as Protect and Double Team - all vital defensive strategies in my opinion.
2. Taunt - Logically speaking, you might want to have 4-5 offensive moves, while 3-4 support moves. Taunt automatically halves your opponent's moveset, therefore making extremely broken. Strongest of the three in my opinion.
3. Torment - As if Taunt alone is not strong enough, Torment combined with Taunt is brutal. In Pokemon Role Play, each Pokemon generally last for more than 8 turns, not to mention the 'broken-ness' when combined with Taunt.
Thanks for the comment, Gibby. I really do try to keep my posts on time. If you have read my post at Trainer Village, you would know that some one in the family has past away. That event drew much of my attention from school, let along Role Play. However, I still check here on occasions, but I think I will be 'officially' back on Saturday.
For everyone else: I am trying my best to get things started around this area, but I cant do it without your help! ^^ Please participate!

Okay okay,
Both Gibby and Bullados got their team in, while Dragon Lord and Pikachu reserved a spot, but have not yet sent their team in (I'll be waiting for your PMs). Worse comes to worst, we could still hold a four people mini-tournament.
However, I am letting this topic sit on a bit, maybe it will draw further attention. By the way, is Yoshi around? I havent seen him in a while, not sure if he saw the invitation... Other than that, big thanks to those who are in the tournament right now.

Okay, I have five people down for the tournament so far, and I do not think any other will join at this point - so let's get this started.
Here are the five:
Bullados
Gibby
Dragon Lord
Pikachu
Yoshi
As you can see, there is a semi-problem here, 5 isnt the magic number. By draws, I have picked Pikachu and Bullados to fight the first match. Whoever is left will be joined by the other three - giving us a nice number of four. Of course, this may not seem fair to Bullaods and Pikachu, as one of them will be eliminated, but this does give them a chance to shuffle through their movesets (if they need to). I apologize in advance if you two mind, but i assure you the process was completely random.
I will make the topic for the battles, and good luck to all of you.

*shifts around uneasily* Hiya. I wasn't sure where to post a request to battle, so ,HIZZAH, here I am. Hope I'm not throwing this randomly in anyone's topic (looked like you were waiting for the competitor's to finish their battles...didn't think you were posting for now)
But, Well, No one will challenge me again in my 'New Trainer Battle' since I finished my last battle. I wish there was some way to let people know that I need another competitior. Anywho, if someone cares for a friendly match (I only have 2 Pokemon I use right now) , I'm bored. especially since no one's been on much...AT ALL...lately. *sniffs*
So, basically, I want/need an opponent, a place to fight, rules for the match, and etc.
Thanks (>^.^)> (: :) (no, I didn't steal this from anyone *shifty eyes*

I can take up your challenge any time. If you would like this could be a PRC match for a special ribbon and a special move that your pokemon can't use regularly. If you want a regular match, post a topic and I'll jump in. If you want a PRC match, PM me and let me know...Remember, if you state the pokemon you will be using you get to attack first and field choice, if not I get first attack and field choice.
Hope to battle you soon.

Yea, all challengers to the Pokemon Resource Center should PM their challenge request to either Dragon Lord or me (preferabbly me, since I still need to work several things out before accepting a battle). Don't worry about it this time, it's completely cool.

Sorry to disappoint you, Bullados, but PRC is still very much alive... ^^
Jeff, read the rules on the first page if you want to participate. I will still be glad to take on any challenges, just like before.
A note to PRP, do expect to see me around here. Real life has really grab me by the throat, and squeezing all the time I have out of me. However, writing is in my blood, and I will write no matter what. Sorry for the unannounced absences, now I am back.
A note to Gibby - you're always welcome back ^^.
