I love Ravenous Baloths. I really do. They make such a great casual deck.

But there's no way I can vote against Troll Ascetic.

Ernham Djinn had his chance and flopped pretty badly. Baloth is nice, but we seem to get a "Baloth" or two every block (a 4/4 for 4 with additional ability). Troll Ascetic is fairly unique in the annals of Magic. Go Troll.

I was out of the loop when they brought back Ernie, however I think that if they keep Arabian Ape and now that we have en-Vec, zoo could be pretty cool. Just like back in the day, when I played Legacy/Vintage. However my vote goes for the Troll.

What? Its the other way around. Baloth was first. I vote for troll, even tho he makes control prettymuch unplayable. Back when he was legal, it was all aggro and combo decks right? Yes it is right. People cant even deal with a 7cc version, that being simic skyswalloer, and he doens even regenerate. DOny say he dies to countermagic, cuz SSS is alive and kickin with that hefy mana cost, this guy costs less than half. Troll i cant wait to see you again.

I understand why everyone wants the troll. But if you don't play the troll its a very messed up card. I think it was overpowered when it saw print in mirriodin. when u ask 100 people they will all agree that troll and eternal are the best 3cc critters green has and will ever see. Playing against the troll is no fun. It seems like to me that 10th is gonna have a VERY VERY strong green. Maybe its because Timespiral will be a control block. Timespiral is blue, planar chaos is about counter spell, future sight is blue. i dunno but i voted baloth cus i think troll is unfair.

Kird Ape: ya I like both cards, Baloth is better cuz he can interact with other creatures, i like heirarch cuz he comesinto play. He doesnt die to bounce, well alot of ppl sac Baloth when he sees a Boomerang or anything. Baloth is cool cuz he cant be fettered tho. Hierarch is god with cards like Astral SLide, but not in STd. So ya Baloth is better.

I have a playset of Ehrnies sitting in a binder somewhere, and they figured prominently into the first tournament-quality deck I "designed", Ehrnamgeddon... see, before netdecking, you could stumble upon a playable deck instead of having to read about someone in East Chipeepee beating you to it. In my version, I used Tinder Wall and elves for accel, into Ehrnies, two Serras and a Craw Wurm (!)... but it was still basically a good deck for its time. Only after I took it to a tournament did I discover it was a poor version of an established archetype.

So I love the Ehrnie, but Troll >> other green aggro creatures.

Well, the troll is the best of course. Lets have Eternal witness reprinted as well. I would not be sorry to see the baloth reprinted either.
The troll is good by itself, but what makes it really insane is powerful equipment because it is only medium size in itself. Since Jittes and Swords won't be around by the time 10th ed comes in, the troll could be fairer.

Baloth is cool. Djinn is not that cool without armegedon, I would vote for the Baloth because troll wrecks a lot of control decks in the format, too much for my liking.

Troll is by far the best of the three cards. If he gets reprinted, however, it will just further evidence Wizard's continuous trend of wanting GREEN to be the best color in Standard, which sucks for me, b/c I don't play green.

First Tooth and Nail dominated, then Green/Black Rats dominated, then Green White Glare dominated, Then R/G Gruul dominated, now Green is played in several of the current top decks...

Seriously, Green is getting WAY out of control. Wizards steals Disenchant from White and makes it Green with Naturalize. Then people vote for Hurricane instead of Quake. Now we are going to have Ohran Viper and Troll for Green at the same time? Something doesn't seem right to me...

I'll tell you what. They can bring back Troll if they give White Disenchant and Blue Counterspell.

Ernie is an average-sized green 4-drop with a drawback. Classic power doesn't make up for the fact that it's a bad card by today's standards. On top of that, it's a complex card in the n00b set. Next!

Ascetic is really, really good - well designed, playable as hell, and a nice archetypal green dude. That said, he always manages to irritate the hell out of me every time I play against him, and I never get to play with him. I don't have anything against it, but personally, I don't want it coming back.

Baloth was my pick. It's efficient, straightforward, almost as playable as Ascetic, and far, far less irritating. Also, the "read-too-many-MaRo-columns" part of my brain likes it for being a good intro to the concept of creature-type-matters, and as a lifegain card n00bs can play with and actually not be idiots for using.

Also, remember one other thing - picking the most powerful creature here doesn't make the set more powerful. If you pick Ascetic, the other green creatures in the set will be less powerful than if you pick Ernie. You're not getting a higher power level via these picks, just a different distribution of power.
