Chainsaw Insect
****
Earth
Insect
2400/0

When this card battles a monster, your opponent draws a card.

Everyone has looked for the new Chainsaw Insect. Then, once the set came out, it went downhill in popularity taking into it's effect of letting your opponent drawing a card once it battles a monster. This was said to give your opponent big hand control. But with a 2400 ATK with 4 stars, who's complaining? After all, there are things that can either eliminate his side-effects, or even help you!

Chainsaw Insect + Protector of the Sanctuary: Protector of the Sanctuary doesnt let your opponent draw a card outside of the draw phase. This cancels Chainsaw Insect's side-effect. Situational none-the-less.

Chainsaw Insect + Skill Drain: Skill Drain cancels the ability of all effect monsters on the field at the cost of 1000 Life Points. This card also negates Chainsaw Insect's ability.

Chainsaw Insect + Appropriate: Whenever your opponent draws a card outside of the draw phase, you get to draw 2 cards! Even though your opponent draws a card, you get to draw 2 CARDS! Can anyone say, "Hand Control!"?

Chainsaw Insect + Null and Void: When your opponent draws a card outside of the battle phase, Null and Void makes your opponent reveal those drawn cards, or just card in this situation, and your opponent has to send it to the graveyard.

So what's your opinion on the big, bad, Chainsaw Insect?

yep, followed by slate warrior, beserk gorrilla, zombyra the dark (argueably), sdm, and archfiend soldier/insect knight.

you might even use this effect to make your oponent run out of cards by putting it in a deck with needle worm and the like

Just remember, your opponent will only draw a card if Chainsaw attacks a monster, if Chainsaw attacks your opponent directly, they're down 2400, and they don't draw a card.

And play some robbing goblins or Don and they have an increased chance of discarding that card.

review from my card of the day:

"todays card is chainsaw insect, this is of course one of the many insect cards within this set and its going to soon be everyone's best friend. 2400 attack for a 4 star!? thats crazy! then once fighting it causes your oponent to draw a card, that is both good and bad. Gives your oponent drawing power but also decreases the size of his deck. Chainsaw insect is also succeptable to tsukoyomi with its 0 defence but who cares he has 2400 attack!? this 4 star can take out jinzo, mobius, cyber dragon whatever is in a CC deck tribute wise this is going to kill it.

overall ratings

traditional: 4 out of 5
advanced: 5 out of 5
overall: 4.5 out of 5

final thoughts: good plain and simple"

its also kinda smashing ground immune. with 0 def. it would have to be pretty much the only faceup on your field to be targeted.

Well, would use it as it is with no combo. In my deck, i try to thin out my opponent's deck until nothning is left. BUt the combo with Null and Void is pretty good.

the Chainsaw Insect + Appropriate combo is really cool. I didn't think of that. I might have to throw in the combo.

do this in combo with infinite cards on the field

once the opponent has so many cards in hand use card destruction in combo with coffin seller. that outta do some damage as a side effect to the chainsaw insect's effect.

It is a useful card in a Skill Drain deck,a deck based around him,or maybe even a deck running 1 of these combos. But i nsaw a deck running 2 for no reason.I loved suiciding a Sangan into it early game.It shouldn't just be thrown into any deck.

I use him in one of my casual decks. Then again the point of the deck is to kill through Greed. It may not be a good thing with other stellar monsters like Sasuke Samurai #3 and Hiro's Shadow Scout in the lineup

Thanks for the combos, I've started using Chainsaw Insect in my Silent Magician Deck and it's been working really well.

Combining it with Appropriate will do wonders. Definitely, a great card.

It's a staple in Exodia Turnarounds, beatdowns, and deck destruction.

Chainsaw Insect + Skill Drain

This would work out very well.. Only 1000 lp.

You can pound your opponent for 2400, destroy there monsters. And they will still not draw a card. And if they have "Cyber Jar", "Morphing Jar", "Man-Eater Bug". Facedown and it gets destroyed by Chainsaw Insect it's effect is still negated.

Like I said.
Chainsaw Insect + Skill Drain
^Awesome Combo^

I've only used Chainsaw Insect in my Silent Magician deck, where it's kinda key to have on the field. Haven't tried it out in anything else.

The best deck you can put this in to is a Skill Drain deck. Chainsaw Insect is a great card, but you can't just build around that alone, which is why Skill Drain is perfect. Add a Draining Shield to put your life points back on top and destroy any weak monster in a heartbeat. I love Chainsaw Insect and I hope it stays strong for a while. ChildOfTheAtom, you get a...GOLDEN MILKSHAKE for writing something about one of my favorite cards!

I am going to use this in an Earth Beatdown deck. Together with Goblin Attack Force, Indomitable Fighter Lei Lei, Toon Goblin Attack Force and Goblin Elite Attack Force. And don't forget the main card Skill Drain!
