I'm just now getting into the swing of the Advanced Format. I am running a deck titled Salamander's Flame. I could really use some advice on the cards to put in a sidedeck. Should I use cards that change the way my deck works, or use cards that protect my deck? I deserately need some advice.

I would also appreciate anyone who would take the time to search for my deck, Salamander's Flame, and give some advice.

The side deck is designed to hel you with problem cards that could be removed in your case it would be good if you sided coutering cards that could disrupt your opponents strategy!!!

The sidedeck is your "metagame toolbox". Are people in your area running too many Scientist FTKs? Put Divine Wrath and the classical burn/heal cards (Ookazi, Dian Keto) to push their life points past breakpoint and destroy the scientist. If Chaos is your big fear, you might want to consider Kycoo and Soul Release in there. Lockdown burn? Malice Dispersion, Spell Purification and Heavy Storm helps clear away Gravity Bind, Wall of Revealing Light, Level Limit, and their other continuous tricks. Personally, I always keep a Peguin Knight in mine - I always fear the day I'll duel a mindless mill deck, running 3 copies of Needle Worm. There's also the option of "alternate continuity" - cards that fit your theme that you can alternate based on your opponent. I play lockdown burn/teeny pump myself, using level 3 monsters whose attack goes through the roof. I alternate in and out a lone copy of "Fox Fire" and 2 "Backfire" traps for my 3 "Wall of Revealing Light" if they're aggresive, but have no level 3 threats to me. (gravity bind deals with the 4+ monsters alone)

I must warn you though - there is no card currently around to deal with bounce. If you're hitting Kelbek, Wall of Illusion, and Nightmare Penguin, I wish you the best of luck.

EDIT: Just looked at the doublepost thread. Completely forgot Kinetic Soldier - essential in dealing with today's Warrior Chaos.

yes a side deck is key to winning tournaments its a collection of 15 cards which u can swap 1 or more cards for the same amount of cards in a side deck heres my side deck im using at regionals but with the new ban list they might not be necessary even tho this is traditional format

2x king tiger wangu ( anti burn, scientist or scapegoat many other uses)
2x cold wave ( against ftk catapult turtle decks)
2x mystic swordsman lv 2 (anti burn)
2x kenetik soldier ( anti warrior chaos)
2x rageki break (distruction of anything that poses a threat)
2x mobius the frost moarch ( anti burn)
and u can play 3 other cards of ure choice w/e u feel will help out ure deck and gl

the sidedeck is used when you dont have enough space in your deck for cards that you want inbetween duels you swap cards from your hand with your side deck at the end of the duel you have to have the same amount of cards in your sidedeck (15) that you started out with..
