Auriok Salvagers + Black Lotus = Viable?

Now, by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert on Type 1, or even being close, but is this a viable combo? Can it be worked into a U/W Fish deck? Please post your ideas.

Black Lotus's ability is an activated one, and Null Rod shuts down artifacts' activated abilities. As soon as you play a Null Rod, you ruin your combo.

Furthermore, from your list I don't see any reason you'd want infinite mana...

1. Yes, the Salvager + Lotus/LED (Lion's eye diamond) combo is viable.
2. No, it is not viable in a fish build, because you really lack of ways to search for the lotus, you have null rod, which isn't too good of a synergy with Blotus, and you don't even win with infinite mana (with that deck)

Actually with Tinker + 4 Reshape + demonic tutor, + vampiric tutor you have and endless amount of ways to search for Black Lotus, Lions Eye Diamond

I have a proxyful version of this deck, but my build is un-Fish-y. It is aggro--you try to win on turn 1 or 2.

run pyrite spell bomb as your win condition... make 1 million white, then make 1 million red to use it... w/ trinket mage you can search out missing pieces easily...

Anyone heard of, oh lets say Oath? Salvager oath is very handy. It's powerful, quick, and to the point (and you don't have to be swinging a bunch just to get to the win). This is about as efficient in its own respects, as a tendrils can be. It's very powerful and very efficient.

In the old forums there is a solid write-up on this combo. It is written by my school mate SuperBatle. If you could get it somehow I think you will be able to get a lot of help from it.

I agree with Apoc on this, if you want Salvagers and Lotus to work, play Oath, its quicker and very efficient. I have seen some people trying to run controlish Salvager combo and I just feel Oath has the best synergy..and the best record, go to the tournament report forum and you will see a few tournies where Oath Salvager either won a mox or placed very highly.

There's little that isn't viable about 1 Pyrite Spellbomb, 1 Kumano, Master Yamabushi, 1 Auriok Salvagers in an Oath deck.

Salvager Oath can't be budgetified due to the fact that it will frequently mill it self without getting LED/Lotus into the graveyard.

More to the point, the whole combo itself can't be budgetified, because a single Extract would kill the entire deck.

Honestly, how often do you see something like extract? I don't see it very often, if at all. Also, about the whole deck milling itself, that's really what gaea's blessing was put into the deck for. If you don't get the combo set up, you could always get the salvager killed somehow, and then top it off by going for the blessing. That will reset your deck, and you can try again. It's not like it won't happen sooner or later, getting the combo i mean. Sure, that can take time, but uh... sometimes things do take time.

Just thought I'd point those things out.
