Ok, to stop any new topics popping up, here is the place where you can discuss anything you want. Simple enough.

Thanks to Pokebeach for this new info :)
CoroCoro revealed today that in its next month's issue, a new Diamond and Pearl generation Pokemon will be revealed. This will be the first D/P Pokemon revealed since last March (almost a year ago), and the new Pokemon will be featured in the 9th Pokemon movie, Pokemon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea. We luckily have some correspondents who receive CoroCoro earlier than most people, so when the new Pokemon is revealed, we will try to get it up as soon as possible!
I cant wait for this! Does anyone know the date when the next CoroCoro mag is coming out?

Long time into the future. We still have to get Trozei, Rescue Force, and Ranger before D/P comes out. I'd expect the following release schedules...
..............................US.................. ........Japan
Torozei:...................spring 2006...............already out
Rescue Force:...........summer/fall 2006.......already out
Ranger:....................fall/winter 2006.........spring 2006
D/P:........................spring/summer 2007....winter 2006 / spring 2007
I remember a topic before about features that you'd like to see in the next Pokemon game. Here are some features that I would like to see...
Full 3D environment. Seriously, Collusseum and C2 were both incredible looking games, and the DS is one of the most powerful handheld units ever produced. It could probably handle the graphics capabilities of a Dreamcast, which is really all the detail you could ever want for a handheld.
realtime battles. This will only work well if the game is done in 3D. In 2 dimensions, the battling system is slightly awkward, but manageable (play a little bit of FF4 for GBA to see what I'm talking about). Also, it would make the game seem more like the show than what Stadium and Collusseum look like right now.
Random battles (wild or Trainer) anywhere along routes. This is similar to the 2D FF systems, where you were safe within allied cities, but could be attacked at any time outside of the cities. I think that it would work rather nicely for this particular game, as the 3D environments could conceil virtually anything. I mean, it's perfectly reasonable to assume that your Trainer has similar eyesight to all other Trainers in the universe, why should he/she always see a battle before he/she goes into one?
NO MORE POKEMON. I'm sorry, but 386 is plenty, IMHO. I have never seen a game with that many unique characters; there is no need to create more.
Realistic AI. I'm not talking the cheating AI that Emerald has. I'm talking an AI that learns your battle strategies during a single battle and capatilizes on their weaknesses better as the battles go on. Gym battles, and Leader battles especially, should have a much sharper learning curve to account for the greater experience by said Trainer. Also, give their Pokemon attacks that they don't naturally learn and don't come from that Leader's TM. A varied move structure will go a long way to making the battles more realistic.
That's about all I can think of right now...

Eh? Aren't DP scheduled to come out this summer? Or am I getting it confused with the movie? And Ranger comes out in Japan on the 23rd of March (this month). That's like...four days...ish...
And the three new Pokemon ROCK. FINALLY we get a pure Flying type! Go Perappu! X3
And Tamanta is adorable (I don't care if people say we don't need more baby Pokemon). Same with Buizeru (the orange weasel thing). Heheh...cuuuute...
C'mon, who else agrees with me... they will call Tamanta "Manteeny" or something to that effect... LOL... you know it will happen!

Are you insane? That's one of the best things about the games, each one requires new strategies, new ways of thinking. If you didn't add new pokemon the battling would become stale and boring. It would be the same old thing because you'd have seen it all before.
Exactly, pokémon is about collecting, battleing and strategy. No other game is like it in the same way. Anyway, the fact is, no matter how many pokémon are available most people will still only use a handful of the most powerful pokémon in battle, the rest merely become for the collectors.

Oh, and don’t forget about the (what I call) “Experimenters.” They are the people who will branch out and experiment with the “other” Pokémon that are not commonly used, just to see what can happen and if there is some ‘hidden power” somewhere around.
Those are the kind of people that are fun to battle with for you would never expect something they use to be used; yet they are still formidable opponents to battle. I use to do something along this line all the time, but now days I tend to just catch them and see what abilities / attacks / stats they can accumulate and then that’s about it. I really need to start experimenting again.

That would be me! Everytime I start a new game I try to train Pokemon I haven't trained in awhile or ones that aren't the greatest around but look to have some sort of potential. It's fun and keeps things fresh :)
People can complain about there being too many Pokemon until the Miltank come home, but it really would get boring fast if there wasn't any. Even if you're experiencing a brand new region, you can only do so much. Having new Pokemon to mess around with extends the game time.
I personally experiment alot... My current team is based around Chimecho, Yanma and Banette... Im finding the three are a good combo, Banette acts to taunt/torment/WoW the opponent, Yanma provides physical attacks, and Chimecho provides special attacks. my only problem is that we only get 4 attacks... Really should write a bio of banette for the main site actually... its really useful!

There's a few Diamond and Pearl screens up on pokemonelite2000.com (http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/)
I for one am glad to see that despite it being on a 3D platform, they are still keeping with the traditional style that we have known to love... This probably means the other screen will be used for maps/pack/status or whatever... we will see I guess...

Diamond and Pearl's release date for Japan is September 28/29th(can't remember wich one). There is currently not a set release date for the US. But we should be expecting it early next year.
Since it is comming out much sooner in Japan; is anyone planning on importing the game just to experience it sooner?

I actually know a bit about the new games, thanks to www.psypokes.com (http://www.psypokes.com).
The two pokemon on the covers are:
Pearl = Parukia = The Time Pokemon?
Diamond = Diaruga = The Space Pokemon? Its either this or switched around.
the game also introduces a lot of new baby pokemon and the new enemy, Team Galaxy. It seems the theory of "Pokemon comming from SPace" is being explored by the evil people and maybe Deoxys will be unlockable as a legendary attainable by anyone (hopefully).
Pearl and Diamond are still able to work with the RSE/FRLG. The new region is called Shinou. The graphics of the game have improved strangely well, but they look strange also. It is at more of a 70 degree view than a 90 degree view as usually seen. There is also Day, Dawn, Dusk, Night, and Evening. I dont like the new player picture though.
As usuall, the game has Male and Female pokemon, but this time, pokemon look just a little different than the other depending on their gender, which you can view on the page itself.

But dont underestimate their size. There are tons of pokemon that are small, but by 3rd evolution, change dramtically in size.
Spheal=Walrein
Torchic=Blaziken
Bulbasaur=Venasuar
So I hope these three new starters evolve into colossal Giants.:D

I didn't mean how small it was, it's just..I've never really liked monkey Pokemon.
Mankey: Only use in Yellow was to kill Brock
Primeape: Mankey never got that far
But, who knows? Gorillas are cool, and the creepy monkey might turn into a gorilla (and defy nature!)

OMG Roselia now evolves OMG OMG OMG OHHHHHH I'm so freakin happy holly crap! Oh man I now need to go to Japan to get this game just to evolve Roselia! Also that Fire Monkey looks amazing I can't wait to pick him as my starter. I don't have a DS yet but now I have to get one just for this game b/c all of the screen shots look amazing and the electabuz evo looks like a freakin amazing Pok. LONG LIVE NINTENDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am also glad they have provided a roselia evolution, I searched for days to get a shiny one in emerald but alas to no avail... In XD i was really happy they had roselia as a shadow pokémon and used it quite alot through the game. I just hope that the evolution has better stats than roselia and they don't pull a scizor on us and make it weaker in another stat to even it out or something, that would suck as roselia has a fairly decent special attack stat.

Nintendo unveiled some new Diamond & Pearl Pokemon details:
* Manafi knows an attack called Heart Swap. This attack swaps stat effects between all Pokémon on the field
* Buizeru knows Agility
* Lucario knows Metal Claw
* Buizeru’s Ability is Swift Swim
* Lucario’s Ability is Inner Focus
* Manafi has a new ability called Moist Body. This ability cures any status effect when it’s Raining
Japanese magazine CoroCoro has printed a ton of new information and screens (which you can view on Revo-Europe (http://www.revo-europe.com/news.php?nid=9270)) on the upcoming two DS Pokémon versions Diamond and Pearl. Most significantly, it has been revealed the popular Day/Night system (used in Gold and Silver but dropped from the GBA generation) will return in expanded form, as players will now be able to experience the Pokémon world in Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening and Night modes!
Pokémon sprites will now show differences between male and female versions of the same Pokémon - with differences including subtle changes in the patterns, size and shape of physical features on a Pokémon’s body.
The Pokédex has been updated again to include a weight comparison feature - with the option to input your own height and weight to compare with your Pokemon’s. Other new gear includes a high-tech watch which will act like a PokéNav (called the Pokétchi in Japanese). It’ll have over twenty features, including time management, a monitoring of your Pokémon in the Breeding Center, a type chart and more.
The professor who guides you through the game is called Nanakamado this time round, and the reigon you explore is called Shinou, which as usual will be based on one of the islands of Japan, this time Hokkaido. Other tidbits include that 90% of the Pokémon in this game will be able to evolve, the Pokémon Center has gotten a re-design and a basement, the professor is apparently known for being slightly wacky and weird, and as expected you’ll be able to use the DS’ touch screen in the Pokédex.
No new pokemon were revealed on top of the ones we already know about, though it looks as if 400+ Pokemon likely to be in the game will be re-numbered again.

With a Japanese release set for Fall, Nintendo has started providing frequent updates on what's sure to be the DS's biggest title to date, Pokemon Diamond (http://ds.ign.com/objects/707/707323.html) & Pearl. An update at the official Pokemon site makes one thing clear: Diamond & Pearl could end up being the best Pokemon game since sliced bread.
While this latest portable Pokemon RPG has the same basic gameplay as previous games, right down to a similar looking battle system, Nintendo (http://ds.ign.com/articles/712/712885p1.html#) has made some changes to take advantage of the DS. The game features a redesigned Pokedex, which now just happens to resemble a DS in shape and functionality, with dual screens and a d-pad. You control the Pokedex using the stylus and now have access to, in addition to basic Pokemon data, tools for playing with the Pokemon voices and comparing size and weight.In addition to the new Pokedex, you also have access to a completely new item: the Pokewatch. Shaped like a digital watch, the Pokewatch's screen is shown on the DS's bottom screen when you move about over the main fields of play. The watch, in all, has 20 functions, including basic time telling, a calculator, a camera and a tool for viewing Pokemon that you've captured. When you first get your hands on the watch, you have only a handful of these functions. One of your goals in the game is to collect more applications.
The Pokewatch's time function may be an important part of the game, as time plays a big role this time around. The game world cycles between morning, afternoon, evening, night and late night. As the time changes, the Pokemon that make an appearances change as well. This should add a new element of strategy to catching all the Pokemon.
Finally, we have word on a new professor of all things Pokemon. The game introduces Professor Nanakamado, a scary old-timer who will help you complete your Pokedex. You'll depend on the Professor quite heavily, as rumor has it that 90% of the Pokemon have evolved for Diamond & Pearl, and he seems to be on the uppity up on the changes.
Nintendo is set to unleash Pokemon Diamond & Pearl on the masses over in Japan this week at the World Hobby Fair. We'll let you know if we manage to learn anything new.

Depends on what you want to do with the game. Piplup is generally disposable, cuz its stats are pathetic across the board, it has virtually zero levelup moves, and its typing is pretty bad. Torterra and Ape are about the same, Torterra is a stronger attacker with a better levelup moveset, but Ape is faster and still has a pretty decent levelup moveset.

I don't play these games but come on. No love for the water starter? That's just cold. Oh well, I'll admit, having a water starter that's actually weak against the fire starter sucks big time. I'd still pick it though for the challenge. If I were going to get the game (diamond would be most likely) can anyone suggest an interesting and balanced team? From what I've read, you've also got to consider physical and special moves and stats not just types. For example, a physical fire attack would do less damage with a fire pokemon with low ATK but high Special ATK than one with those stats reversed. I know I'd want these two pokemon but that's all I'm certain of.
