Who here has a job? Where do you work and what do you do. =p

I've been going through many temps jobs since the pre-school closed, and I'm stuck with this factory job right now.

Hughes Parker... bleh...

I work from 3:30pm - 2am Mon-Fri and 1:30pm - 10pm on Saturdays..
Sundays are my off day.

What do I do? Manual labor (wheee!). It is different every day but its working with steel and manipulating it in some way. Sometimes I just have to grab it, place it in the press, align it, press the button, take it out, stack it in a back, and after a couple hundred, seal the box.. Easy days, very boring..

But mostly the steel shoots out at around 10mph, one after another, and I have to collect it and stack it properly in a splitsecond and turn around and collect some more before they fall off the tread.... Each little bar weighs around 2lb, so after doing 14,000 bars at the end of the day...my arms hurt. ^_^()

You prolley skipped over all that in the middle, I would too. Its boring...and it smells really bad.. Grease drips from the ceiling and the entire place is just.. "eww" but.. its a job. =/

$7/hour -minimum wage here is $5.15 u.u

Anyone else lucky enough to have an awesome life-sucking job such as this?

My favorite job was probably the soccer refereeing that I've done every spring and fall for the past 5 years. Yep, refereeing kids from ages kindergarten through 8th grade. My last year paid $21/game, which usually last 1-1.5 hrs.

Not only did I play soccer for 14 years (not counting the adult league from Fall 05) but I reff'ed for 5. >xD

And coached for 2. ^_^()

OH and I almost forgot... yeah, it turns out they were only blowing smoke up my..erm.. you-know-what...

Turns out I'm only there as a temp, and not for a 3month trial for a perm position...

Meaning: They let me go two hours early tonight, gave me thanks, and told me to never come back..

My fault..I finished 4 hours ahead of schedule cause I like to keep busy...and so they had to let me off early... =/

RL, you have to get the job XD I wanna see you starring in the new Lea & Perrins ad.

I had a job last summer at a 2 day festival called T in the park. I only worked four days (2 before it actually began and 2 during the event) at the end of it I came away with £312 so it was pretty awesome. I also got a free backstage pass and got to see a bunch of bands live. Not a bad job at all :P currently though college fills up all of my time so no job for Pikachu at the moment.

Thought I'd mention this... I was supposed to have the audition for the commercial tomorrow, however I got absolutely no information about it since I submitted my application, so I rang the agency today and asked them about wether I had an audition or not, they basically told me that I should have been on the mailing list and should have therefore recieved all my details in the mail last thursday/friday, they can't e-mail the data to me because of personalised details that should have been in the letter they were supposed to send me... basically if someone rings me from there tomorrow then I have a chance to be in it, or if it arrives tomorrow with my details then I can audition, without the paperwork I can't... The fact I don't even know where in london the audition is, means I can't just turn up and say "oops, ive lost my papers!".... Its a shame... I need the cash!

On a lighter note ive sent out a few more acting resumés today for a few things such as magazine photoshoots and a documentry.... So yeah that could be interesting! =D

Ah yes, work. The one thing within life many people would rather not do, but something that everyone (for the most part) has too do in order to sustain life. There are a few people who can get away from this, but not that many, in my opinion.

It is amazing how you can tell a little about a person based on their job. For example, if someone has had many jobs within a single year, you could assume that the person is having a hard time figuring out where his / her strengths are. If a person has had a job for several years or longer, then you can assume they are dedicated to that job, even if it is not one they are not pleased with.

As for my job, I have only had one job, and I have been working there for five years now.

Well, technically I have had two, but the first one was with my father during my sixteen too eighteen age range, and I never really considered that a job for I never really did anything. You see, my father is a property appraiser. He goes too your home and tells you how much it is worth; for when you want to sell it, when a bank asks for if someone wants to take out a loan, etc. Basically he did all the work and I just went with him on the “road trips” to give him company and to give him directions on the map so that we did not get lost.

As for my real job, I started out as a basic Merchandise Flow Specialist at the local Nike Factory Store. A Merchandise Flow Specialist is basically just someone who restocks the store, does cash register, walked around and helps people, etc. It is a fancy name for those that start out there. However, slowly over the years, I have grown too where I am now the Stock Room Manager. I basically now do the same things I did previously, but I also make sure that when we get new shipments, we get all that we were suppose too get, we send out all that we are suppose too send. I basically make the stock room someplace easy to use.

Since we are a Factory Store, we cannot do special orders or anything, so we basically get whatever we get. Sometimes it is hard to sell things when all you have are size eighteen shoes in them. *giggle* But that is how it is done.

This may be my current job, but it is not what I want to do all my life. I am currently going through college so that I can become a Visual Graphic Designer. I am enjoying all the classes I have taken thus far within that field. I am learning quite a bit about how we perceive things as well. One aspect of being a Visual Graphic Designer is knowing what catches peoples eye; what makes them take a second glance.

But I have not gotten to that aspect in the classes yet. Currently I am just learning about the history, applications, and means that Visual Graphic Designers use.

Good luck, you'll need it. At least in Australia, probably in US too, Graphic Design is an amazingly tough industry to get into and make good money out of simply because there are so many people doing it, there's not enough demand but lots of supply, or at least designers to supply... -_-"
