Tips needed for trading or buying single cards

I am not clear on the hierarchy of cards (ie as abbreviated in the card list) that is, how the appearance differs and what is the order of implied value. Any other information for my 8yo would be appreciated. We have been to the YGO League at Toys R Us and several people have asked to trade but from what I do know they are trying to take advantage! I have looked up cards we have and want but I guess value is also demand driven.

For example - he is not interested in keeping/would like to trade:
1. Toon Gemini Elf (giveaway - DL6)
2. Sphinx Teleia (EP1)
3. Theinen the Great Sphinx (EP1)
4. Ojama King (SOD)
5. Horus the BFD LV4 (SOD)
6. Limiter Removal (DB1)
7. Slot Machine (DB1) etc


any help appreciated.

ok here is some in formation that should help you out!!!

first of all you need to know the diffrent types of card rarity's.

1. Common - These cards are mostly the same cards that you will find in alot of boosters they are easily obtained, thus commonly found.

Genral cost of these cards are about $0.02 - 0.10

2. Short Print - These cards are common cards that have been slightly less produced, the reson for this is to make it harder for collectors to comlete there sets! an example of a short print would be 'Stealth Bird'.

General cost of these cards are about $0.50 - 4.00 depending on availibility

3. Rares - These cards have silver writing for the tittle of the cards, these how ever are a bit more harder to get. genaraly thes cards are better in duels than commoms.

General cost of these cards are about $1.00 - 8.00 depending on the cards playability. Example of a good card the would be woth alot would be
'Spirit Reaper' and 'Archfiend Soldier'.

4. Super Short Print - These are the hardest cards to get that are commons, the reason for this is the card is about the same ratio as a regular super rare, although more in value than your regular short print ,these cards are purposly short printed to generate revenue for store to make money off of!

General cost of these cards are around $4.00 - 10.00 An example of these cards would be 'Level Limit Area B', 'Smashing Ground'.

5. Super Rare - These are cards that just have a holo picture with normal writing!

The priceing for thes cards are as follows. $4.00 - 25.00 even more for special cards. 25.00 - 200.00

6. Ultra rare - These cards have a holo picture and also have gold writting on the card name.

These cards are very valuble based on playability ranging form $8.00 - 40.00
some high end cards are 'Black Luster Soldier- EOTB', 'Breaker'.

7. Secret Rare - thes cards have crystal writing and generallt have a diffrent holo picture that look like crystal lines!!!

These are very valube usually between 12.00 - 50.00

8. Ultimate rare - These cards are all holographic the symbol too not just writting and the picture these are the most valube cards out there as of now.

An example of one of these is a 'Horus level 8 UTR'

these go for anywhere from 15.00 - 125.00 depending on the card!!

I hope this clears up some of the things that you wanted to know about cards values!!

I dont get it. why is everyone saying Theinen SUCKS?
3500/3000 sucks? and pay 500 L.P. to make it 6500/3000 sucks?! I just dont understand. How does this awsome card earn such a low value?

Cuz of the insane summoning requirements for it, and the fact that otherwise it sucks compared to say DMoC.
