Yes, yes. The first Nintendo DS game to go Wi-Fi, and I just pre-ordered!:D I seriously cannot wait for this game. The game has 40 tracks, which is awesome, and I cannot wait to play this online. I've watched some press conferences of Mario Kart DS, and it looks simply AWESOME! Yeah...this topic can be used to discuss the game, or(when Wi-Fi comes out) to plan times to play against each other....man, how cool would that be. A Pokeschool Mario Kart tourney. lol..yeah...so...start talkin!

Here's a TON of direct feed videos. They are all Wi-Fi...and awesome..
19 days till the UK launch, Ah I can't wait, seriously this game is going to be brilliant... And just think, with Online Play even though we are all scattered across the globe, we can all play... Everyone get this game, I don't care how you get it, just get it... (Although i will not be held responsible for any actions you do that may allow you to aquire a copy of the game that are illegal or whatnot)

Meh. I won't be getting it until a few weeks later. Sure, I have money, but that's going towards a new TV for my new room. Dangit.
Maybe, MAYBE, if I have money left over, I'll get MKDS, for three reasons:
1) There is no denying that Mario Kart is teh funz0rz.
2) First DS game to go online. How can you go wrong with that?
3) I wanna have the satisfaction of finally wiping the floor with Sal. >=)
Third is a joke, so don't start flaming me.... >_> Yes, it has gotten to the point where I have to distinguish my jokes from the other stuff. .____.;

Sure about that? ;) We'll just have to wait and see....
I'd practice and play my Mario Kart games but they're in the moving truck... ;_;

Hehehe...I'm already a step ahead of you. :-P I've even played the N64 and SNES versions. Yeah...I'm weird..lol
MAN I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS GAME!!!

Dangit! If only I had a (WORKING!) SNES!
Hmmm. You getting the special MK stylus? I don't even know where you get it... =/

I have no clue....I didn't here anything about it. I'll have to ask my Blockbuster when I go up to get it.
Maybe its a preorder bonus? Ive not heard anything about it either!

Oh BLAH! It's not a preorder bonus. :(

Bleh...I wouldn't want that stylus anyways. Mario Kart DS even USE the stylus unless you want to change hey way you see the map, but you could simply use your finger to do that.
Anyways, I have a question about Nintendo's Wi-Fi. Do you have to buy anything for the Wi-Fi to work, or is it already built into the game and all you need is a wireless router? I'm pretty sure I have one of those because my laptop uses it. So....yeah...am I right?

You can go Wi-Fi three ways, I think...
It's either A) Go to McDonalds or any other Hotspot, B) Get a wireless router or C) Buy the Adapter that goes in the USB port on your comp. But that's according to me, and I don't think it's right... Meh.

I'm pretty sure that you're right. But is a wireless router the thing that you can use to get Internet to your laptop?

Yes, and I really have to save up for one. I have the card but no router >_>
But yeah, three ways to go WiFi, three ways to kick *** online.

I may just be repeating what's already been said, but (excluding the hot spots) from what I've read you either need wireless internet access or the USB device to contect to the network (with an already existing internet connection that is). If you don't already have wireless internet you'd have to buy the device or get a router, but if you do already have it you shouldn't have any problems.
Anyways, I can't wait for MKDS to be released either. First thing I'm going to do is try to get it online ^__^
Is it wrong to want the game more for its online features than to actually play it? I'm a long-time MK fan n' all but if it wasn't for the online part of the it I probably wouldn't be anticipating the game nearly as much as I am. Probably wouldn't even buy it right away. Maybe online gameplay sucks when you're just against random people, but racing my friends all around the world is going to be awesome :D

The more I find out about MKDS's online, the more I don't want it anymore...
This is from Craig Harris at IGN(no link unfortunately)...
"The problem with Mario Kart is that the online portion is extremely limited. The only way you'll be able to connect with me on a regular basis, outside of randomly connecting to me via "Worldwide Mode" is if you have my 12 digit Friend Code, and I have yours. If you have mine, you still won't be able to connect to me as a friend since I don't have yours. Knowing someone's online name isn't enough. Nintendo's system also forces the group of up to four players -- people can't choose who to play, or even enable a simple two or three player challenge. And even in random Worldwide match-ups, if I enjoyed racing against someone, I have no way of adding that person to my list of friends. There's no way of chatting with that person or finding out his email address to get that information after the fact, either.
Get Mario Kart DS because it's the best freakin' kart racer ever, with an incredible focus on single player and local multiplayer. Don't get it solely for its online component because you'll end up wanting way more than what's offered here."
This really shot my hopes down for this game... Oh well, at least we still have Animal Crossing. =/

*Looks at what she previously wrote*
Aw, bloody hell X_X
That sucks. REALLY sucks. I knew about the Friend thing before but not this forced racer bit or the fact that you can only play against four players and four players only. Man, that just makes Nintendo's online system look weaker than it should be. Yeah, I'm sure I'll get over this once I actually get the game but reading this really isn't raising my spirits... Besides that, I barely have anyone to play against IRL. That was one of the reasons I disliked the GBA Mario Kart game. When you have no one to compete against directly or anyone to compete against for Time Trail stuff it really takes away from the game, and generally when you have a handheld it doesn't get shared around as easily (at least not when you're paranoid about it getting damaged like I am).
EDIT: Okay, need to clarify something... Why did that guy say "up to four players" if you can't make two or three person challenges? Was it just to say you can only race four people and not eight like in the standard multiplayer? I'm confused @.@

Meh...even with the letdowns in the Online play, I still want the game as much as I ever had. It's better than having no online play at all, right? I don't think I can wait 9 more days for this game....I NEED IT!! XD Oh well, at least I have Mario Party 7 to pass the time.

Yeah... Like I said, after getting over the initial shock and actually thinking about it I'm not as annoyed. So it's more like a teaser of Nintendo's online capabilities... At least we'll still probably be able to do everything we wanted, just not with as much freedom as we'd like. I'll work around it.
When everyone gets their IDs they gotta post 'em here ^^

i never really liked any mario kart games, guess its just not my thing:o .Im more of a need for speed underground 2 player. The online thing doesn't really look all that good either, it would have been alot better to be able to connect with your pals.

IGN has FINALLY reviewed Mario Kart DS http://ds.ign.com/articles/666/666125p1.html
It received a 9.5 out of 10 with scores of: 9.5/9/9/10/10

I'm impressed. I've seen a lot of ho-hum reviews from IGN lately and that sure wasn't one of 'em. The Online features of the game sound rushed and weren't designed as well as they could've been, but I'm sure the rest of the game more than makes up for it. If only I actually knew 8 people to play multiplayer with... That'd be one sweet time ^^
Along with the ability to play any race track with the computer opponents, solo players can also enjoy the Battle Mode and Shine Runner with computer controlled bots filling in the slots normally reserved for human opponents. On top of this, the developers flesh out the single player experience with a series of Missions, six worlds of eight missions with a very Super Mario-like boss battle to cap off each world. The missions range from "Drive through tires" to "Powerboost five times," but the challenges get so tough it may take you days to finish them all with the highest ranking
One word: Whee!

I don't think we got that. How good exactly is this game? Is it better than the standardbearer for the kartracing genre, SMK64? That's what I'd like to know...

This game is better than any of the previous Mario Karts..
And a warning for everyone. DO NOT get this game for Wi-Fi. I've tried about 20 times and I cannot finish a race because people will disconnect or I'll get an error code and it'll mess up the game. Wi-Fi...for me isn't all that great.

Really? I thought SMK64 was one of the best ones - if not the best XD
Both the GBA and GCN MK games were much weaker than it IMO (I've barely played the GBA version and have no urge to buy Double Dash). As for the original, it was great for its time but if you were to go back and play it now your memory of its greatness would probably be shattered. Having to release the ignition button just to properly go around turns was alright back then because we were used to it, but it's a real hassle now.
I agree, MK64 was brilliance but when I started playing it again last summer I was like "Omg its so wierd!" MKDD in comparison was fairly easy to play (unless you're aiming for perfect score on all cups). Damn you americans getting these games before us... ive got to wait 5 days till it comes out, and probably another 5 till I can buy it (will prob get with my birthday money)
