Ah yes, birthdays; the one thing that comes every year that indicates the process of change / maturity in a person (I believe). Sometimes I feel that I do not really want to “celebrate” my birthday due to the fact that all I seem to get out of it is “I have turned another year older today.” And in a world where age depends upon many things; such as how much people respect you, plus the fact that an average person only celebrates around 75-ish (or is it 80-ish now?) birthdays in their full life; it can sometimes be depressing.

But I feel that as long as you have friends that are willing to “grow older” with you, then celebrating your birthday is worth while. The whole purpose of birthdays is not about presents or the gaining of material positions, but to promote a day that is devoted for you yourself.

However, all of this is my opinion; so I guess that is how it sill stay. By the way, for those that want to know, I celebrate my birthday on June 2nd. Most of the time, I will tell people that it is my birthday but I do not really expect, nor desire, to have a huge fiasco happen around that.
