A relatively terrible hardcast, he'll definately see play in reanimator. Because after all, free life is free life.

She's not really that hard to play, if you do remember, Pristine Angel and Yosei cost six, and those two saw action in white based control. In fact, I think she could be a good replacement for Pristine Angel after the rotation - a 4/3 flying, first striker who gains you life every unpkeep AND can return to play for 10 mana. Just wait till you get a glimpse of Searing Meditation to see her true potential. She's one reason I'm turning my MWC deck into RGW control (with the loss of Jens and the Baubles, I'm turning to green for Elders, Reaches and Carven Caryatids)

Slightly Eternal Dragon-esque. In the way of returning from the grave, but directly to play vs the hand. The 10 mana is a bit rough, but should be doable, especially late game. At that point most decks are players are low on hand count and control decks shine anyway.

Aside from WR where this will be great as a combo with another card, this will see play in UW control, albeit UWr. Not saying succesfully or unsuccesfully, but it will see constructed play.

This card isnt like pristine angel or yosei at all.
First of all, they have abilities that are anything but similar.
Second, this costs 1 red to play. The other ones cost only white.

yosei and pristine angel are conrol

to kill them can be a problem

but if you kill this angel who has not a excellent mana cost

there are only some lifepoints for your opponent

and then there is kokusho who is better than it (only the lifegain)

lol Kokusho is used for killing your opponent with it's life LOSS ability. I wouldnt really care that much for the lifegain ability of kokusho.

hey funny idea.. but wouldnt firemane angel make a great addition to a zurz wierding deck? i mean think about it..

4x angel +4x zurz w/ counter backup and well i think you have a solid lock. not sure if its superior to enduring ideal but i know its definately techy.

I agree but I would make that into an extended deck with Buried Alive for a quick three life a turn. This card is pretty cool but I wouldn't make use of the creature only the ability for the most part.

cards got potential but its not gonna be a bomb like Yosei and Kokusho, where youre afraid to kill them. this isnt as scary to kill because it costs 10 to come back or bring it to hand. Its possible a RW control could come out using this with 4 wraths possibly land D. hmmmm

Mana wouldn't be such a problem if you've got Green thrown in the mix. Do remember that it only has one red in its cost and two in its activation cost, meaning its easily splashable in any deck with land searching and the like (hint: GW control... oh yeah...).

yes!
i wanted to say that even kokusho's lifegain is better
because after playing firemane angel you will probably live 5 turns =5 life
i know that kokusho is for killing^^

or if three of these are in the grave you would gain three life a turn which I thinks is sweet plus unless it gets removed countering it does nothing unlike Kokusho. :P

it also pairs extreemly nicely with searing meditation no matter where it is.

If only you could find the medalion. And trick the firemane into the graveyard. And not die in the meanwhile.

It's a combo, but searing medalion just isn't constructed worthy. It's no astral slide, for instance.

Silverdawn Banisher

It ain't exactly Astral Slide, more of Lightning Rift. Though the combo could be the core of a deck, it could still pe a possible tool for control, especially with RW's other lifegain spells like Lightning Helix etc.

I think the firemane angel is cool, but for constructed hardly ever playable.
I mean yosei is just so much more threatening, in play and after it leaves.

It's true the angel isn't all that great, but put a lot of them into the graveyard fast with Searing Meditation in play and you've got a lot of damage each turn. I was testing a combo/control version of it when it was first spoiled. If you splash blue for Tunnel Vision, then you have a combo finish in a control deck that rivals Upheaval-Psychatog. Try playing a Searing Meditation or two and play Tunnel Vision for a 1-of card in your deck and you'll put 2-3 Firemanes in your graveyard. That's 12 damage a turn if you have the mana.

Cute but for the cost, it's not big enough at 4/3 (despite the first strike). The life gain is amusing but ultimately not of any real consequence.

Well, outside of Buried Aliving 3 in extended or helping build an OK RW Control deck in standard, I can't see the uses....

Silverdawn Banisher
09-22-2005, 07:57 PM
Well, that basically is its use: A beater for RW decks which can be recurred to battle counters and removal, and a combo with Searing Meditation to gain you life while dealing damage.
