Elric - Please repost with the following rule. every card other than "ticket" needs to have 3 copies. sorry there was a typo in my original article. So you'll need to drop some cards and bump other up to 3.

Ok, you see the point i guess, i made him a warrior, youhave to see the artwork, hes stronger than BLS, BLS is even in the picture, getting beatdown by Golden ticket and theres a line of other cards waiting to fight him and CED is already knocked out behind him with his wings cut off, but anyway i digress. I try to get a ROTA into my hand or the Golden Ticket in my hand as fast as possible. I was thinking of Last will and Cannon Soldier but didnt think i could get them as fast as this.

p.s. I added the effect for overkill, incase he had someway to stop the other effect of once he is on the field. Sorry.

I disagree with two points in the article.

1.) That you should only have 40 cards in your deck to be successful. Please note that in the last Shonin Jump Tourney only one person in the top eight had 40 cards.

2.) That you should be looking for just one card in your deck to win with. Your deck should flow and use cards in combos. If you are looking for just one card to make or break you then your deck is unstable.

I understand why the excercise is done, to learn deck thinning. I agree with the probability but I think its only a part of the deck building. I also agree that this lesson is a migration to the larger idea of deck building. I just have a problem with the " only 40" part.

Crash

Yes I know I will get flamed for this..

Hey crash, as long as you know you will get flamed then i guess what you said is ok. I slightly agree with you, i hate the 40 cards sometimes, but to be competitive you have to thin out the deck.

SIDE NOTE - Gather your mind can only be played once per turn. So you have to wait three turns to get all of them. I prefer TTOC, i wont spoil it to much. Back to crash.

Deck building shows you how to get strong cards out faster, and as any deck builder knows you should not rely on just one card. Thats why even though BLS has always been in decks you tend to see DMOC or other strong 1 tribute monsters in there as well.

Wheres your submission though crash, it would be interesting to see what you make in your speed deck with no restrictions.

My Golden Ticket is a Monster, and a Warrior and it is a level 1 monster with a 1000 attack and defense.

1 Golden Ticket - Level 1 Warrior 1000 attack and defense

3 Reinforcements of the Army
3 Scapegoat
3 Monster Gate
3 Last Will
3 Pot of Greed
3 Graceful Charity
3 Upstart Goblin
3 Card Destruction
3 Reload
3 Toon Table of Contents
3 Gather Your Mind
3 Spell Reproduction
3 Premature Burial

Strategy - Reinforcement of the Army is game over if played, but this deck also has another instant win combo. Scapegoat along with Monster Gate is another One Turn Winner with this deck. Of course you can't activate Scapegoat and Monster Gate in the same turn because you cannot special summon the same turn you activate Scapegoat. Scapegoat along with Last Will also is almost always an instant win if your opponent has a Monster in Attack mode on his or her side of the field. Again you cannot activate Last Will and Scapegoat in the same turn, but an activated Scapegoat during your opponent's turn can spell doom for your opponent with Monster Gate and Last Will.

Pot of Greed, Graceful, Upstart Goblin, Card Destruction, and Reload are your basic draw power trying to either draw The Golden Ticket, Reinforcements, and or the Scapegoat combos. Toon Table of Contents and Gather Your Mind are their as your deck thinners.

Spell Reproduction and Premature Burial are their just in case Reinforcments or The Golden Ticket get sent to the graveyard before you get to play them by a Needle Worm, Dilenquent Duo or the like. Spell Reproduction can also bring back that Card Destruction that is gold in this deck.

This deck could easily attain and play The Golden Ticket in 1 Turn.

ensabehnur - 93% great work, I can't think of a card that would stop the effect. Notice how strong mill could be if some cards weren't restricted.

crash - looking forward to your homework. You can go more than 40 if you wish but the point is Mathematically a 40 card deck is superior to a larger deck. Of course one card isn't a win nor should it be this is only an excersize. Post a deck.

dyjess - 95% - I didn't think of Last will when I made this deck. With a card like ticket OTK would be easy to make happen.

Elric - 91% - a little dependent to battle loss for my taste but a good deck.

greekmanchamp - 93% miller gone wild. why is ticket a warrior???

Who out there can break the mold??? think original and outside the box. bring in cards we haven't thought of.

That's my deck submission. Tribute to the Doomed is in here to work with The Shallow Grave and getting some critters off the field, like Sangan. It's probably not that original, but I find it effective.

Here's my try :)

Golden Ticket= field spell card.

1 Golden Ticket
3 Owl of Luck

3 Terraforming
3 Scapegoat
3 Necrovalley
3 Book of Taiyou
3 Pot of Greed
3 Graceful Charity
3 Upstart Goblin
3 Card Destruction
3 Reload
3 Toon Table of Contents
3 Gather Your Mind
3 Necrovalley

The owl of luck searches for the spells I need.

Necrovalley + owl of luck adds Golden ticket to my hand.

Terraforming searches for the Golden Ticket.

Book of Taiyou is included to flip my owl at the first turn.

1 Golden Ticket Level 5 Insect

3 Neo Bug
3 Opticlops
3 Luster Dragon
3 Gemini Elf
3 Insect Knight
3 Mad Dog of Darkness
3 Dark Blade

3 Different Dimension Capsule
3 Heart of the Underdog
3 Reload
3 Pot of Greed
3 Graceful Charity
3 Insect Imitation

My deck works with three cards, Different Dimension Capsule, Insect Imitation and Heart of the Underdog. Insect Imitation and Different Dimension Capsule pulls my card. Heart of the Underdog burns throught my deck. The rest of the spell cards are to draw more cards until I get one of the three cards I need.

Well, I think that if you use monsters that increase the amount of cards that you pull from your deck per turn, then you are in a sense "drawing" more cards from it. This will allow you to be able to run a few more cards that might help your deck push for the win. Cards like Nimble Monmonga and Giant Germ which brings multiples of itself to the field. Also using the self replacement monster speeds up your deck. Spells like Last Will also contribute to a faster deck. People are playing Morphing Jar alot also speeds up your deck. If you use more than one of these type of "deck thinners" then you having 42 or 43 cards in your deck won't matter for the speed of the deck. But if the two or three extra monsters help you win the duel instead of thinning your deck then it was worth it. Thats all I'm saying. My deck normally runs 42 cards, in case you want to know.

super puzzler - 86% - why is ticket light when you use tomato, maybe the angel instead.

micomancer - 89% - owl of luck adds to my teaser in the article pretty well but you list necro valley twice. that's a no no....

crash - 97% - bonus for the insect route. tabs up well with the heart o the dog. very creative. I do hope you understand the 40 math. you seem on top of things so I know you do. play 42 that's cool by me I can understand some situations but I would be remiss if I didn't point out that 40 is mathematically better. PM me your 42 list and i'll offer sugestions as to what to cut if you like.

Dekster - 92% - emisary was a nice touch but Airknight has to have 3 to fit in the rules and then you didn't put the ticket in your actual deck

greekmanchamp - better but I don't allow for edits to change grades unless they are requested by myself. I was wondering when I would see the cat pop up.

I use the Tomato with Sangan and Night Assailant. Another part of my reasoning is that my opponent may be wary of the Ticket after the first duel if I run Shining Angel.

I understand the math, I'm just say that the amount of cards in the deck don't directly relate to the speed of the deck. You can run three Giant Rats, three Nimble Monmonga and three Hyenas and you deck will run real fast compared to a deck that only runs one of those sets of monsters. Also you will have great field presence with those cards.

well, sorry for not getting here fast enough, but heres my golden ticket deck:

golden ticket
effect monster
type:pyro
attributte:fire
atk/100 def/100

when this card is normal summoned, flip summoned or special summoned, you win the duel. as long as this card is in your deck, you cannot win the game and your opponent cannot lose the game

golden ticket deck:

monsters:19

1 golden ticket
3 sangan
3 mystic tomato
3 the thing in the crater
3 UFO turtle
3 dark mimic lv 1
3 dark mimic lv 3

spells:21

3 pot of greed
3 toon table of contents
3 card destruction
3 dragged down into the grave
3 graceful charity
3 upstart goblin
3 reload

point of the deck: very obvious, getting golden ticket, but with this strategy:
search as a sick for UFO turtle and if defense needed for X reason, use the thing in the crater. with the deck thinning strategy, get UFO turtle, suicide it, and presto, there u go, a golden ticket to get golden ticket, so how's it?or just dig for sangan, and the thing in the crater for the golden ticket digged with sangan for a win

ps: hi dekz, how u doin?

Dekster - no change in grade but I just realized why I didn't think of emisary of the after life when I made this homework. He can only fetch NORMAL monsters. the ticket kinda has an effect. sorry.

breaker999 - 90% fire is a different route. I am unsure how the dark mimic's would play out. The card drawing is good stuff. if allowed to happen it could be helpful.

Sorry for not getting here sooner, Prof X. I had computer problems. Anyways, here is my "Golden Ticket" deck.

Golden Ticket
Level-2 Dark
Warrior/Effect
ATK-1000/DEF-1000
Effect-When this card is Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned on your side of the field, you automatically win the duel. As long as a "Golden Ticket" exists in your deck, your opponent can not lose the duel except by the effect of "Golden Ticket".

Monsters (16)
1x Golden Ticket
3x Mystic Tomato
3x Sangan
3x Cyber Jar
3x Morphing Jar
3x Thunder Dragon

Spells (24)
3x Pot of Greed
3x Upstart Goblin
3x Graceful Charity
3x Reinforcement of the Army
3x Reload
3x Card Destruction
3x The Shallow Grave
3x Book of Taiyou

I decided to make the Golden Ticket card a dark warrior because of reinforcements and mystic tomato. All the other cards are self explanitory. That's how I would make a deck based on Golden Ticket. One more thing, I always pictured it an actual golden ticket, but my card is a dark warrior. How do you guys think the art will be like?

Frylock72
10-25-2005, 05:46 PM
Hmm .... A Golden Ticket. Interesting. :D

Let's see ...

Monster
Cyber Jar x3
Dark Mimic LV1 x3
Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive x3
Morphing Jar x3
Mystic Tomato x3
Peten the Dark Clown x3

Spell
7 x3
Card Destruction x3
Golden Ticket x1 (When you activate this card, you win the duel. This card can be negated by spell-negating effects.)
Reload x3
Upstart Goblin x3

Trap
Good Goblin Housekeeping x3
Jar of Greed x3
Reckless Greed x3

The main thought is to summon and send to the grave the searchers while getting the one-shot use out of the flip effect monsters you need to get those extra cards.

Now, while I realize Reckless Greed makes you skip two draw phases, if you set them the turn before and activate them all at once, you only miss two draw phases instead of six, while drawing six cards.

Oh, and there is a way to negate Golden Ticket, but it only works if it's a monster: Skill Drain. Otherwise you'd need spell/trap negating effects.

That's all for now. With the new ban list it was a little more difficult to make this deck, but I think the draw power is good. :D And there's nothing like an alternative way to use draw power.

-Josh-

PS: If you want to get a multiple-monster effect, switch out Dekoichi for Dark Hole. You'll nab your opponent's monsters while sending Peten and Sangan to the grave, and thinning your deck by two more cards (or more).
