Ok, in Canada on YTV Pokemon Chronicles has recently started showing (I guess recently) but the channel is kinda screwy. Ok, first off, Pokemon Advanced hasn't finished yet, however the station ID at noon keeps saying that Pokemon Chronicles is coming on next, even though it's actually Pokemon Advanced, which is fine because that season hasn't finished showing in Canada yet, however, considering the programmers on YTV must be drunk half the time (what with randomly changing shows for no discernable reason, other than changing things for change sake, like the constant reshuffling of friday night programming where it's seemingly differently ordered every week, but whatever) I'm concerned that they might not bother finishing Pokemon Advanced and might one day just slap on Pokemon Chronicles in it's place before that season has finished. Second of all, the onyl time Pokemon comes on is at noon, and the station ID keeps referring to it as Pokemon Chronicles even though it's actually Pokemon Advanced so I don't know what's up with that.

Now today I woke up really early and couldn't get back to sleep, so I flipped on TV to see what cartoons are on at 5, and there on YTV was Pokemon Chronicles. I have no idea how long it's been on, but there it was, and I don't like it. I mean, (SPOILER ALLERT!!! AND I CAN'T USE SPOILER TAGS!)

Even though this may be common knowledge to everyone in the world except me, I still want to put a spoiler warning just in case people haven't seen it (People in Canada for example who only see Pokemon on YTV) but I don't like how NONE of the regulars are in the show anymore. I mean, I never realised I would miss Ash and the others since he's been the main character for so long, and then I turn this show on and it's two new characters which I don't even recognise. If you've seen the show, could you tell the rest of us what their names are again, and where they come from? (game wise) Are they from the Pokemon GBC games, or are they just two random characters created from nowhere? And why the heck is Brendan STILL not around? I was annoyed when they didn't have him in Pokemon Advanced, and now he's STILL gone? Also, I don't like the "yu-gi-oh" approach they seem to be taking with the battles now. I mean, the two main characters were battling, but Jigglypuff's song didn't put beedrill to sleep because beedrill's wings were beating too fast and blows sound away? Couldn't they just have said the attack missed? And beedrill's attack missed jigglypuff because jigglypuff takes dancing lessons? I don't like this whole "making up new rules every battle" thing that they are doing now, nor do I like it in yu-gi-oh either. I mean, it's not like they haven't done it in pokemon before, because they have, but they seem to be doing it more now.

And everyone is new (all the characters are new, and apparently the professor is porfessor Elm) yet the bad guys are STILL team Rocket? Sure they're two new characters, but STILL team Rocket? Why not Team Magma or Aqua?

And in this episode, Team Rocket has a gem that attracts electricity and absorbs it, which causes electric pokemon in the area to come to it, which the new team rocket then starts capturing them which (for some reason) causes Raikou to descend from the skies to attack team rocket freeing the electric pokemon. (and all the times that Ash and company were dealing with captured pokemon, and in a few epsiodes strictly electric pokemon, Raikou never came down to help them, so why now all of a sudden?) but since the gem is absorbing electricity Raikou soon succumbs and is ripe for Team Rocket to capture (which is basically where the episode ends) Does anyone know if this is the first or second episode in Pokemon Chronicles? Also, they seem to only be showing 2nd generation pokemon (the main characters have a beedrill, typhlosion, (boy) Croconaw and Misdrevus (girl)) while Team Rocket had Steelix and Skarmory, and the electric pokemon that were attracted were Raichu, Voltorb and Mareep, (and Raikou ofcourse) which leads me to beleive this might be a second generation pokemon season, or at least one set in Johto, also making me believe that these trianers might be from the GBC games (never played them, so don't know) so I would like to know, is this accurate, or am I just grasping at straws?

I thought that the new season of Pokemon (based on wild speculation on these boards) was going to be set in the Battle Frontier, but instead it might be set in Johto (missed the first few minutes and opening credits, so these questions might have been answered int he episode) and not the battle frontier at all (which I got my hopes up for nothing, I guess) and even if it is in the battle frontier (which it doesn't seem like it, but it was onyl one episode) there won't be any Ash or Misty or Brock or May or Max... well won't miss Max... or Pikachu. Can anyone shed some light and tell exactly what's going on? Will the regulars be coming back into the new series, will it just be the new characters for a few episodes, will every season have new characters, or is Pokemon Chronicles simply a spin off so there will be TWO Pokemon Animes? I think that's all my questions. I hope someone can answer, and sorry if everyone knows everything I brought as "news" but since it wasn't posted here in the anime boards, there was no way for me to know what people do and odn't know. Can anyone answer? And I myself won't be able to get any more answers until next week, because if things are the way they're supposed to be, today at noon Pokemon Advanced will be on, so Pokemon Chronicles won't be on again on YTV until next Saturday at 5am. I hope there's info! Oh yeah, and if Pokemon Advanced IS the last time we see Ash, and Pokemon Chronicles is a whole new cast, then the only spoiler I want to hear (because like I said, Advanced hasn't finished yet) is whether or not Ash FINALLY beats the Pokemon LEague for once. I don't want details, because I want to see the episode myself, I just want a yes or no, because if Ash is gone, I want to know if he for ONCE doens't lose against the pokemon League. (like he did in the first series and in the Johto league) PLEASE, no detail here, just a yes or no as to whether he beats the pokemon league. (I'm hoping for a yes, because he's already lost twice, and if they are dumping ash, I really want him to be Pokemon Champion at least once)

Oh Stonewall... ^__^;;

Pokemon Chronicles is not a brand new season of Pokemon, they're special episodes that were (mostly) never released outside of Japan: the Raikou special, the Hoso episodes (ie. specials that take place outside the standard plot) and I think a few Christmas specials. Aside from the Legend of Thunder episodes (the first *three* I think) all of the Chronicles episodes are stand-alone.

As for the YTV mess-ups, if you check their official website the only timeslots given to Pokemon Chronicles are 3:30 PM Eastern time on Fridays and 5:00AM on Saturdays (as of yesterday anyways). Regardless of their stupid "Next up" thing (yes, I saw it too) the rest of the Pokemon timeslots still belong to the main series. Whether you like 'em or not, Ash, May, Brock, Max and Pikachu aren't going anywhere... I hope :p

Check out www.ytv.ca for more info. It may clear up some confusion for you.

oh wow! thank you! that is SUCH a releif! now I don't mind watching Pokemon Chronicles as long as the main characters (Ash and co) will either alwyas be there, or will be up later! Thanks a lot, Linkachu! that makes be feel TONS better! So, Pokemon Chronicles is going to be a filler season with the specials not aired outside of Japan, and then there will be another season after that in the battle frontier with Ash and co? Is that how it's gonna work?

No problem at all. I'm just glad I could help clear some stuff up ^^

What should happen on YTV is that both series' - the standard Hoenn journey and Chronicles - will run side by side each week since Chronicles' timeline has no direct connection to Ash n' co. KidsWB is starting the 3rd portion of Pokemon Advanced next weekend so I greatly hope YTV's gonna do the same. The Battle Frontier filler will come after the Hoenn League championship (still quite a ways off for the dub).

I hope that answered your question and didn't just repeat stuff you already knew ^^;

Yes, I agree with stonewall. Half the time, they say one show's up next, but then it's completely different show.

At least we know now it's just a glitch. Advanced Battle has been playing regularly in the lunchtime Sat. timeslot since the 17th and Chronicles' has its Friday afternoon timeslot. Pretty nice set up if you ask me ^_^
