It's the new Wall of Blossoms! This could be cool, but it depends on the deck. Time will tell perhaps.

Haha, this will be very fun to play, in both limited and constructed. :D I love it!

Nice card; we've been waiting on a successor to Wall of Blossoms for a while, and as Jungle Barrier didn't really cover it, this is a much better attempt. Thumbs up from me.

Excellent card
Will be heavily (ab)-used...
If only I had a way to reduce his power by one to abuse the power of Shirei...

i tink you could use Night of Souls Betrayal to do it then find a way to sac it and pop it back. This card is going to be the green card that gets played as much as witness. It may not be mainboard cards though. White Weenie is huge and if a MGA or a G-Multi Color control arrises then this will definitely be sideboard to it. Off of spoilers ive seen online from ravnica, i have seen 0 equipment...no more equipment!????

I think this is one of the cards that Rock has been waiting for so long to see and it looks good enough be played in extended as a huge blocker.

A very nice SB card for the aggro match up.
With a CC of 3 it fit very well in the mana curve.
With 2 mana you cast the Elder, the following turn Carven Caryatid stop the opponent onslaught.
Very solid uncom.

I don't like the double green in the cost, but yeah, it's definitely a good card. Not splashable in the slightest though, so it will have to go in a heavy green deck (Not hard with Elder and Reach.)

Checked the "Orb of Insight" and found 4 occurences of the word Equip, and Equipment.
On subjuect-
I agree that it is a great card, but I don't know how much the GG is going to affect multi color playability... on the other hand 4 pain lands + 4 dual lands + 4 BoP = a lot of options.

I don't like it as much as Wall of Blossoms. I played Wall of Blossoms back in the day and LOVED the card.

I might have to remake this deck if possible.
Hmmm.... (it was hella fun)

Thanks for the tournament report, I think I read it when it was first posted, too. I love nonsense decks like that that just look like a pile but can plow through when you want them to. Usually, the ones I build are CONTROL-aggro, but you and I are conceptually on the same page here. I can't wait to crack four caryatids. Not exactly the same kind of control against modern goblins the old Blossoms was against sligh, but it's some good.

Sounds like you're a fantastic Magic player.

This is a good card, but overall, I think that it wont be as well played as people assume. Green is more of an aggro color, and I just dont think a wall is what green will want to do with it's turn three. It really depends on the post-mirrodin metagame though, and I could wind up putting my foot in my mouth, but we will see...

I could see this card having great uses with convoke and Stampeding Serow.

stampeding serrow is brilliant. Nice thought.

Ehh, nowhere near as good as blossums, but I like this card. I'll be playing green black or green white, so I'll have to get me some of these :)
Will go good with any deck that has birds of paradise.

lol, will be good in basically any deck that runs a decent amount of green.

Since when is any colour predefined as aggro? Even red has had control decks built around it. Decide whether a colour is best as aggro or control when you have the card pool of that colour.
And yeah, this card is sweet. Replaces itself and then easily holds off 2 or more dudes. Virtual card advantage baby!

Make up your mind, is it going to get played as much as witness or will it just show up in SB's.
No way is it as good as witness, you get a random card not a choice, even if you get a better critter.
If people want to attack with creatures without evasion it is just brilliant. The first things that can kill it show up around cc 4 or more likely 5.

I think the rock plays green. So does gifts.
But otherwise you are right it hasn't a place in aggro.

So what, Wall of Blossoms shouldn't have been played because green is a "aggro color"?
You guys don't make sense. It's a very good card, it will see lots of play. And River Boa, a turn 3 Witness would often have no targets, while a card draw is welcome on any turn.

The three-cost makes it less attractive in extended and legacy, where gobbos are that much more powerful- but a 2/5 cantrip can't be dismissed in any format.
It's too bad they dont have something similar to Tradewind Rider in standard, in order to better utilize walls' status as creatures.

Hmmmm... I guess this is one of those "depends on the metagame" cards. If there is a lot of aggro (and from what I have seen of ravnica, I am thinking aggro) then this card will be sweet.
Honestly, stampeding serow was a much better combo with witness, and that isnt even played that often.

This shouldn't really be compaired to Witness. Totally different.
Wall of Blossoms saw lots of play, and it never had the potential to kill enemy creatures. It could get you an effective 2-for-1 card advantage by blocking down a critter and drawing you a card. This, on the other hand, can net a much larger card advantage over the turns due to its two power. And notice that extra point of toughness puts it out of the range of the new burn spell, Char.
I would expect any heavily green deck that's not strickly aggro to run this.

Well, not if you are about to be decked, but you have a point.
The caryatid is a better creature in play, even if the witness can attack. I still think the witness overall is better. But a card can be very good without being as good as witness.
This thing can hold up a lot of attacks, giving you time to find or play more powerful spells as answers. It suits my control style of play and I will likely use them a lot.

Any control deck running green has no reason not to run these. A 2/5 defender who nets you a card when it comes into play shouldn't be ignored.
