A friend and I are trying to start our own Duelist League. Nothing fancy, just a time and place for all the duelists in our town to get together, especially the older ones. We used to go to the Toys R' Us Duelist League, but they started to enforce the age limit. Now we're stuck. There aren't many duelists in the area that know anything close to what they're doing because around here, most of the players are little kids and the like. So, my question is: How can we attract duelists, especially what few older ones there are, to come to our League? ANY help would be appreciated.

ok lets see where to start!!!!
ok as a yugioh Tournament Organizer level 1. I find that if you are trying to get sanctioned tournaments ? if this is the case you need a stable tournament location where you need at least 8 people every week!!!
Gamming stores and or card stores are the best places for this kind of venue, although they are small generally they dont have alot of space.
Or if you are just getting guys out for fun it is all in the advertising and the prizes that are offered. I found that alot of people want prizees, if not most people wont even bother to show up for events!!!
when my store firs opend i had literally no one untill i had some sort of advetisement, flyers are a good way to start then i move on to the internet a little page then on to some thing like a mailing list where people can check to see when we have tournaments.
the best thing to do is just to get as many people to know that you are having tournaments by word of mouth then people will come just to see!!!!
I hope this helps you as i am sure you can easily get something started in your area!!!!!

WAL-MART!!!
is all i got to say...i have been holding sanctioned tournaments through Wal-Mart for nearly 4 months now. i recently spoke with the dept manager handling the sales of the various card games and found that she recieved a package for Yugioh every month to hold a tournament of their own. when she found out i would be willing to run and host the tournaments she instantly jumped on the band wagon to sponsor it. she even managed to write off various Yugioh items to offer as the prizes. it has run fairly smoothly for me over the past few months. the only month the tourney was down was December to make room for the Holiday rush.
granted im not a sanctioned organizer like Unimatrix...but i have managed to keep the tourneys very smoothly run and i have plenty of people who come that are as knowledge if not more so then myself. plus all of the people that come to compete have never complained about the tournaments. and Wal-Mart loves it. because it generates sales for that day...especially in the card dept. :shrugs: coincedence to them aggreeing??? maybe???
