It helps that I fit nicely in the "normal" size range in the US, so buying clothes there is pretty easy, as opposed to in the UK where I'm at the very top of the "normal" range or more likely, at the bottom of the "plus size" range, which is just annoying... Also, the Hot Topic website ships anywhere in the world. Postage & Customs & import duties add like 50% to the cost, though :(.

Eh, if you're fairly thin (below a US 12/UK 14) and within easy reach of one of the major city shopping centres, there are plenty of alternative clothing stores and markets. My problem is I'm a fair bit above a US 12, and the only fat girls' options are mail order - and I won't buy clothes mail order unless I know how the place sizes, because I'm short AND fat AND small-waisted AND large-assed, which is like the kiss of death when it comes to buying off-the-peg clothes here. Also, the general belief for UK plus size shops is that if you're fat you must have NO waist, so nothing is the right shape for me. *moanmoanmoan*

I just live in t-shirts, most of the time. Don't see much point dressing up when I can't go out to clubs in this country because I'm too allergic to smoke, and smoke-free venues do not exist :(.
