Coolest Character

Whats the coolest charcater you've seen in a video game. give the charcater and the game. mine is probably riku from kh or ed from fullmetal alchemist.

Bond was in videogames, and Bond is inherently cool and deserves a mention.

Many characters get good lines in games, but few can keep the veneer going throughout the game.

I've been replaying Xenosaga in preperation for XSII, and I must say I really like Albedo. He's absolutely over the top and his laugh can be considered irritating x 1000, but for some reason I really like him as a villian. I can't wait to play XSII (my pre-order still hasn't arrived...) and see the continuation of Jr. and Albedo's stories.

Also, although it's pretty underground being a Japanese import as well as a fairly new release, I really like Arieta from Growlanser II (moreso when possesed by Givas.)

To make things interesting, here are some of the characters that I really didn't like:

FF8 - Squall (Cookie cutter "Whatever" hero...)
FFX-2 - Brother (Incest? I'll pass)
Star Ocean 3 - Fayt (I never liked the "why me" hero, with the exception of Fei from Xenogears)
Disgaea - Vulcanus (extremely overused character foil)

I never really liked Sephiroth when I was playing FF7; he just seemed way too over-the-top for my taste. Rufus, though, was decent.

And I assume that Bond is not eligible for this discussion?

I have to second Magus/Janus, and also put forth Jade from Beyond Good and Evil, Dhalsim from Street Fighter, and Allegra from SSX3.

For me I would have to go with squall from FFVIII. But I really liked clouds level 4 limit break, the Omnislash. Best limit break ever.

One I forgot to mention before, and was reminded about by a trip to the local arcade... Slayer from Guilty Gear XX. Let's count his cool points. Supernaturally powerful (+1) vampire(+1), but only uses his powers to aid in normal punches etc(+1, cause he has honour). He blocks with smoke from his pipe (+1, and +1 for having a pipe) and when he gets "knocked out", he just chills on the ground with a smirk on his face (+1, because it's so badass). And to top it all off, his motivation for fighting in the game is just to have fun and randomly screw around with or help people (+1).

That's a start at least. I can't believe I forgot how cool Slayer is.

I agree with the latter. Squall was really fake, and his personality was shallow. Seifer was badass though...

I like Vivi from FF9.
This is inherently wrong, because it contains "I like FF9" without a word like "don't" thrown in there. Because of FF9, I refused to play FF10 for like a year. The story in that game was so messed up and just bad.

I'm gonna go oldschool and choose Alex from Alex Kidd. Not really though.

what about Lubu from dynasy warriors 3XL? that was one awesome character, the raw power to massacre hundreds apon thousands of enemy troops all by him self.
