The night before I stayed at Matt’s (Venom) house and we stayed up practically all night testing and pwning people at Halo. That was definitely not a good thing for me because although I planned to sleep in the car on the way there… I can never go to sleep. Matt was able to sleep about half the way there though.
We arrived at the mall about… an hour early x_x. We waited around and finally headed inside. I met up with all my friends and FINALLY Savannah shows up with all the Jirachis I need. I finally have my deck complete (I’m playing Spin Tail Tyranitar).
After a delay of about…. 3 hours….. The tournament begins.

Round 1 vs. Tom C. (Blaziken)
He didn’t get much. All I remember is that his one evolution was a Firestarter Blaziken that was easily taken care of.

1-0

Round 2 vs. Roy R. Sr. [old man] (Exploud)
He gets a pretty good Exploud set up but I end up getting a Sand Damage Tyranitar with a 2 fightings and a dark and just run through everything he has.

2-0

Round 3 vs. Cassie M. (Walrein/Magcargo)
She gets an extremely fast start to this one. By turn 4 or so she has 2 Swamperts, 1 Walrein, and a Magcargo on the bench. The Swamperts and Walreins all full powered and she was working on another Mudkip on the bench. She finally takes some action (to my advantage) and KO’s my Jirachi with Walrein. I am then able to Scramble my energyless Tyranitar and begin to Spinning Tail. She gets two straight tails on Sheer Cold so I’m able to get three Spin Tails off. I use my other to Spin Tail once and then I Rock for 5 prizes. I had killed her Sparce on the third Spin Tail so that was game.

3-0

Round 4 vs. Anthony G. (Salamence)
This was a pretty good match. He gets out two regular Salamences early and keeps me at a disadvantage through Dragon Wind. I’m eventually able to get off a couple of Tyranitars powered up so his Dragon Winds were useless for stalling. It eventually turned to the better for me when he couldn’t get a Salamence EX on the board.

4-0

Round 5 vs. Devin J. (Rocklock)
He starts with a Larvitar and no energies. Because of this, he passes two or so turns to me. This gives me a huge advantage at the beginning and I’m easily set up early enough to beat him before he gets anything going.

5-0 (WOOO, only undefeated)

Round 6 vs. Johnny K. [patriarch] (Rocklock)
I don’t remember too much from this match. However, I think I was a bit too aggressive with my Candies so a single Rock was able to screw me over.

5-1
Top 8:
1. Johnny K. (Rocklock)
2. Jordan D. (Tyranitar
3. Rich A. (Blaziken)
4. Clay C. (Blaziken)
5. Michael W. (Dark Slowking)
6. Devin J. (Rocklock)
7. Brian D. (Medicham)
8. Gilbert V. (Speed Drag)

Top 8 vs. Brian D. (Medicham)
(Yeah I know, worst matchup possible -_-)

Game 1:
He gets Medicham swarm early. He gets 2-3 Medicham out before I get anything powered. And because of that, I cannot use Jirachi or Pidgeot to get setup. It was pretty much all downhill from there.

Game 2:
He gets a really bad start here. I have 2 Tyranitars powered and ready before he even sees a Medicham. I’m pretty much allowed to Spin Tail my way to win. Nothing fancy here.

Game 3:
This one was a close one. We both pretty much go at the same pace in our setups. When it was all said and done, it was his tech Dark Hypnos that allowed me to beat him in the end. I needed 3 prizes and he had 3 on the bench with 40 damage each after 2 Spin Tails. I was then able to send up Sand Damage T-tar and Rock to win.

Top 4 vs. Clay C. (Blaziken

Game 1:
AHHHHHHHHH Lone Pidgey start -_-. I get the Pidgeot out like turn 4 but those free turns were enough to have him Bex all my Tyranitars.

Game 2:
My opening hand is:
Pidgey
Pokemon Retriever
R Energy x2
Dark Energy x2
Scramble Energy

He gets:
TURN 2 BEX
GG

So this deck does pretty well. You basically started to lose a little in the top 8.
One question...How was Jirachi compared to sparce or any other basic searcher?

Jirachi is the ****. I only didn't start with it in top 4 thanks to some Swoops. It is better than Sparce in this deck for a couple of reasons
1. Very few basics in the deck
2. Doesn't require an energy!! WOOOOO
3. Useful for pretty much every turn it is active!! (Very unlike Sparce)

By the way, the point with me starting to lose in top cuts is the whole point. Trips hate me. Pokemon won't let me get a trip.

Thats what I thought. But is it only good in a deck like this or any other deck as well?
Its okay, you will get a trip someday. lol

Hey, could you psot a decklist? I think I might be a little confused.

Also, I don't think metal jirachi is for every deck, or for everyone... like those with bad luck.

I played 4 of the Dexoys Jirachi. And it didn't help my luck at all. I'll also post a deck list here pretty soon.

5 prizes at once! I would have loved to see the look on that kids face when you did that.

Ive seen 4 prizes at onec from 2 EX's being knocked out, but 5 on 5 differnet poke is crazy.

Yeah, I'd say the 5 prize thing was pretty cool. Hehehehe.

Judging from what you are saying about Jirachi, would it be better jus to use a basic seacher? I know this deck only has a few basics, but im just sick of cards like sparce.

I say that I like Jirachi much more than Dunsparce... at least in this deck. The deck actually runs off so few basics (you need 3 maximum) that Sparce isn't as needed as one might think.

Well, if a deck doesn't need a lot of basics, then it doesn't really need dunsparce. In that case, you might seek to replace it with metal jirachi.

Metal Jirachi? Are you talking about Jirachi from HL?

ZAKtheGeek

No, I mean the DX jirachi, since it's pure metal and thus is easily distinguished from HL jirachi.

Believe it or not, I've had worse happen against me. In a Team game, my team lost 7 prizes on 1 Dark Raichu attack, all Babies. Needless to say, we were irked.
