After playtesting in Apprentice I have decided my original impression about this card was right....it is ABSURD! I am telling you, this card is going to make a serious impact in Standard and probably Kami block. Thoughts? Comments?

No. There are so many things wrong with Hidetsugu's Second Rite. Anyone can simply avoid having 10 life and fizzling the spell.

Of course there are ways around it, that is true about every card! I know I personally am not going to be too disappointed if my opponent Magma Jets or Slogs themself in response to me playing Second Rite. If your opponent sees a Second Rite...well side it out for the next game. Nothing would be more pleasing then having my opponent mana burn themselves from 11 to 9 because they are afraid to lose to the card again...even though I sided them out. Of course there will be times when an opponent finds a way around Second Rite, but just the threat of it is enough to make your opponent play differently (Hmmm, I am at 12...you attack with two Hearth Kami...I could block one but, I don't want to get Second Rited...okay I'll take all 4...oops you didn't have a Second Rite!). Lastly, its an instant...what that is actually played other than red, City of Brass, and Tailismans can find a way to damage itself on the spot to prevent a Last Rite....? The card is good.

A player just needs to tap one land to mana burn himself to power his way out of a possible Rite hit.
So, it's just a bluff card. Tell me how many Rites you've successfully hit.

Uh...buddy, mana doesn't drain from mana pools until the end of a phase...not right away. Know the rules before you start talking about the...and I would guess I successfully used it 20 plus times.

Okay, fine. I was wrong about the mana burn thing. I'll admit that.
Anyway, I'll give you 20 bucks if you can win a PTQ with that. Just to show me how impressive you claim it to be ;)

You're gonna wish you'd never said that.
But anyways, it is a pretty good card, and will find it's way into many sligh decks, probably including Pawn907's. Maybe a sideboard card, but sided in against what? white weenie? black decks? I dunno. test with it some more and let us all know.
