Its a good card for limited.
this is basically the breakdown for this card:
turn 2: its a 1/1 for 2 mana
turn 3 and so on: its a 3/3 with a chance of being 1/1 or 5/5
Opponent's turn: On you opponent's turn its a 1/1
I think its not that great, its too squishy and easily destroyed.

Pretty bad. I read the name and immediately thought "Oh neat, Clickslither-esque dork maybe?" Then I read the text and started crying.

I dunno, I'd compare this guy to the Boggart Ram-Gang almost. They're both swinging for 3 on turn 3 and it doesn't matter what they are during your opponent's turn because theoretically they'll be tapped. Granted Wither is probably better than First Strike, except I have a hunch we will see some playable deathtouchers, making first strike a whole lot more relevant.

I agree with goblin token.
In my opinion, a red card with static first strike is pretty good in this metagame, especially if deathtouch becomes more popular.
With the new land that gives +2/+0 tap red, into play tapped, this would hit for 5 turn 3 first strike. Can't get much better than that. (if that land is, indeed, real)

I like this card, it provides red decks with a nice two drop (and the current two drops in red are pretty weak), I'd like to play some of the landfall cards in classic (I play online so I can't play legacy or vintage) with the decent fetchlands.

If only it wasn't "under your control" and were an uncommon.
Although, First Strike makes it worthwhile at a glance.

If there are pitchlands in this set, or if Realm Razer decks take off like they are supposed to, this guy is a beating. Turn 5 Realm Razer sac 'Razer (to whatever), win? But I doubt it this will be any good, yeah.

Scapeshift might have potential with this card...

This card might have potental, now we dont know what the rest of the set will bring, but as other posters have said, with that +2/+0 land gives it some potential and remember guys, turn 3 you can also play Terramorphic and then search for another land, thats +4/+4, so that aint too bad so far.

agreed. only decent red 2 drop right now is hellspark elemental. only problem is that past around t4-5 when your hand is dried up it tends to stay as 1/1. id hate to cascade into this with the elf thou...

Are we getting sac lands? If so, I like this a lot. If not, marginal card. All the "but it sucks after turn 5" arguments are true of almost any red 2 drop, so I don't quite buy into that reasoning. This is able to attack much more often than a normal 2/2 dork would late game. Where it seems weak to me is running it in an old school sligh deck with 20ish lands. If you're more in the range of 24-26, I'm ok with running this.

With the return of harrow, this could be pretty good, in my opinion.
Turn 3 he is a 7/7 with harrow.
I don't think you can beat a 7/7 on turn 3 that easily right now.

it could combo well with bob in extended

PtE, Doom Blade, Terminate, Negate targeting Harrow, Unsummon, Call to Heel, or any chump blocker on the field at the time.
Dream Fracture, Cancel, Unmake, Bant Charm, if you didn't play first.
To me, that's alot of ways.

The thing is, if your deck needs to run 24-26 lands, then you probably have much better things to do turn 2 than cast this.

Scapeshift might have potential with this card...
In extended that is. But I do like the card and think it will be great for limited.

I was thinking centepede+harrow+collosul might= 11/9 first strike trample on turn three, for three cards. and gives u 5 land on turn 4.

Ah, yes... colossal might 3rd turn and sigiled captain for later game are perfect with this guy.
(of course there's a guy playing the removal card... In a perfect world, people will learn that everything dies to some removal and one doesn't have to state it every time someone throws out an idea...)

I don't understand how all you guys think he's bad. He's a red 3/3 for 2. If you swing twice while he's pumped, you're more than happy with your return on investment. You're only really unhappy staring down a putrid leach.
Heck, he's an awesome blocker if you leave a teramorphic expanse out. If you lay and pop an expanse on turn 3, though, that's 5 damage for 3 mana, *with* the body left over after. Those are Ball lightning numbers.

I didn't even think about his defensive potential! For fun if you have a KotR and this guy on your opponent's turn you could pump the Centipede to a 5/5 first strike blocker pretty handily. But ugh! So much shuffling!

Regardless of building a deck around it, I like it as a solid cog in a red machine. turn 2 drop, turn 3-5(ish) swing for 3 with first strike. His power may fall off later with less lands, but who cares, you're hard pressed to find a beater that keeps his effectiveness well that late. At worst, keep him back and have him stop a ball lightning in its tracks. This is all assuming no land shenanigans, which are all but guaranteed seeing as how zendikar is turning out. I'm predicting we see some useful things out of him.

RDW will likely not end up playing instigator, unless some really good aggro goblins come out. a 1/1 DS for :r::r: is meh at best on its own. It only gets great when it allows you to drop a pair of siege-gangs off the attack and get 8 creatures for :0:
