It's gonna be a few weeks before I play Emerald (I have it on my desk with the strategy guide, however I am determined to finish FR before playng Emerald) but I was curious if someone could confirm/deny the changed pokemon for sure. (I know about gamefaqs, which is where I got the following pokemon, but I just want to confirm that these are all of them)

Okay, first for the R/S pokemon:

are these ALL the R/S pokemon you have to trade that aren't in Emerald or are there more?

Roselia
Lunatone (Why just Lunatone and not Solrock? anyway...)
Zangoose
Meditite line
Surskit Line

and is that all the R/S pokemon not obtainable in Emerald? or are there more? (Like I said, I did check gamefaqs and the Strat guide, I am just making completely sure)

and as for the other pokemon that aren't R/S (which is where things get wierd, because the Strategy guide, even though written by Nintendo and mentions a couple of the non-hoenn pokemon to be found, doesnt' actualyl list pokemon NOT of the original 200 from the R/S dex. Here I was expecting (finally) a COMPLETE pokedex on one guide, but not only do they not do it, they don't even mention the other pokemon that aren't from hoenn in the pokedex.) I am staying away from the section in the guide dealing with the battle frontier (barring a cursory glance) because I'm trying to keep myself spoiler free, but I would like to know what pokemon are available in the game that weren't originally available in hoenn, and again I got this info from Gamefaqs I'm just looking for confirmation that the info is accurate. Thanks!

Are these ALL the new/Non Hoeen pokemon you can find in emerald now?

Sudowoodo
Smeargle (Artisan cave and Altering cave I already know about)
Meowth

and in the Safari zone

Sunkern, Mareep, Aipom, Spinarak, Hoothoot, Snubbull, Stantler,
Gligar, Teddiursa, Ledyba, Pineco, Houndour, Miltank, Wooper,
Marill, Remoraid, Shuckle

and finally in the Altering Cave
Mareep, Aipom, Pineco, Shuckle, Teddiursa, Houndour, Stantler, Smeargle

and is that all the new/Non hoenn Pokemon in Emerald or have I missed some? And considering that there are no codes for Emerald yet, and the Fire Red/Leaf Green ones the ticket activators may not work (therefore no Lugia/Ho Oh, or deoxys for me in FR) I'm worried that the altering Cave codes may nto work either for Fire Red or for emerald so that's more pokemon I can't catch (since there's no e-reader cards for these) I was wondering do the pokemon that would appear in altering cave also appear in the Safari zone after you beat the game or are there some pokemon that will only appear in Altering cave and that's it? (I know what the list above says, however, again, I just want to confirm to be absolutely sure. And also, IS there an Altering cave in Emerald or was that taken out and it's JUST in FR/LG because IF the Safari zone list above is correct, there should be no need for an altering cave, but then again I am not playing the game right now so I can't be sure yet) Thanks and hopefully i've gotten all the new/Non hoenn pokemon listed! Thanks for any help!

Altering cave? In emerald? I may well be mistaken, but I don't know ANYTHING about that...

Otherwise it seems fine. Except there's also octillery in the safari zone, but since it's a rare catch and remoraid is listed, I think it's excusable :D

So then that's all of them then? Good! thanks! I heard that there was a Ditto in the Fossil Maniac's Tunnel in fallarbor town, but no one has mentioned it, so are the pokemon I listed above ALL the pokemon you can get in Emerald? (Dumb guide decided to list ONLY the Hoenn pokemon. What's up with that? )

It's apparently on Route 103 after you beat the elite 4. I haven't finished or even started the game yet, so I can only go by what I've heard.

EDIT: Sorry abtou the double post, I just responded to the post I quoted and forgot to check if I had already posted before. I wish I could delete my old posts.

Their is an Altering Cave but it's the same as FR/LG's. I'm not really concerned about it because the Pokemon that are supposed to be in there are in the Safari Zone after it gets an upgrade.

I think it has the same Pokémon as FR and LG. I think you just have to use some kind of e-cards (as in FR/LG) to change of Pokémon.

Something hilarious about Emerald's Altering cave is that it has the same background music as the FR/LG Altering Cave. XD

No, I think there's something more sinister behind the altering cave this time, or perhaps it's been there all along, waiting for emerald to reveal it. I mean, there really is absolutely no reason to use the e-cards since it's all in the safari, not to mention that you need to beat the e4 to gain access to both areas. Also, doesn't emerald not accept e-reader input or something like that?

you're right, there is no Mystery Event system in Emerald, therefore it cannot use E-cards. I forgot about that. I mean, not that they ever released e-cards for Fire Red/Leaf Green to begin with, they onyl made it POSSIBLE for the game to accept e-cards. Perhaps there is a way to use e-cards. I mean, after you beat the elite 4, is that kid in Petalburg by the PC? And if he is, then does having him change your trainer bio line to "Mystery Event is exciting" cause anything to happen? Des it change Mystery Gift to Mystery event, or add the Mystery Event to the menu screen?

I really wish Nintendo either stopped with all this cryptic stuff OR actually came out and told us everything at some point so we would evnetually KNOW instead of all this speculation.

There is a mystery gift in Emerald but it's like FR/LG. You have to put Link Together With All in the survey at the Pokemart. I can't remember were I read that but it works.

Gotta say Stonewall... if they told us everything, it would ruin everything... The fun of these games apart from the training, is the speculation... Its like someone said 2 me b4 about catching all the spindas (200 accordin 2 them) then having a guy trade spindas for the other furniture pieces and dolls in verdanturf city... or all those "how to get mew in R/B/Y" etc...

Sinister? Interesting choice of words. Now you've got me curious. What do you think could be in the Altering Cave? Some kind of exciting new item? One of the previously-missing legendaries? Or a trap to catch people who use cheat codes?

I really wish Nintendo either stopped with all this cryptic stuff OR actually came out and told us everything at some point so we would evnetually KNOW instead of all this speculation.
I think in any game like Pokemon, there's always going to be code reserved for future expansion. Just as people who hacked Ruby & Sapphire found the code for the "missing" Pokemon that weren't released until Fire Red & Leaf Green, and the unobtainable Secret Base items that are in the Ruby & Sapphire code that can't be got until Emerald. Not all the reserved code ends up getting used in the end - some makes it into other games instead, while the rest is scrapped completely.

If the game manufacturers told us "everything" at a future date, it would
a) make people angry - "You mean there was code for a Shadow Lugia in Colosseum and you didn't let us have it?!".
b) give us an insight into the internal politics and workings of the corporation - which they might not want us to have.
c) stop people speculating. Speculation is good for sales. All the time people are talking about the games, they're increasing the brand awareness. Yeah, like any games player these days could have missed hearing about Pokemon - but knowing there's unsolved mysteries could encourage someone to pick it up who otherwise wouldn't have.

I dunno. On the one hand the unobtainable legendaries bug the hell out of me, because I'm a completist and somewhat anal (the sort of person who alphabetises the contents of the fridge - only slight exaggeration!). On the other hand, I actually like that there's unobtainable Pokemon and mysterious hidden items, because it gives me something to look forward to.
