my friends just started playing magic while i play yugioh... they taught me some basics and i taught them some... then i realized... i need a deck. im buying the 2010 core set so those are the only cards i have to work with... the core set cards are listed here http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/magic2010/spoiler#

ok so i want to build the best possible red green deck from these cards, this is what i got so far (where is says X i figure those shouldnt be hard to obtain so i added a few extra)

11 forest mana
9 mountain mana

wurms tooth
whispersilk cloak
platinum angel
dragons claw
seismic strike
panic attack
manabarbs
lightning bolt (X3)
act of treason
bountiful harvest
fog
naturalize
oakenform
regenerate

ant queen
borderland ranger
centaur courser (X3)
deadly recluse
elvish archdruid
great sable stag (X2)
kalonian behemoth
llanowar elves (X4)
mold adder
runeclaw bear

seige-gang commander
raging goblin (X4)
magma phoenix
lightning elemental
goblin chieftain
dragon whelp

is it good? or by looking at the cards in the link can you suggest a card list that would make a good red green deck?

what really makes a good red/green deck is it ability to slow down your opponent while still putting them a clock... here is a red/green/black list my friends and built with some success..
I know that there is power and other expensive cards in the deck, but I just want to show what I mean by being slowing down opponent while still being quick so hopefully you can find some ideas using m10

1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Sol Ring
4 wooded foothills
1 windswept heath
4 tiaga
4 bayou
1 badlands
4 wasteland
1 stripmine

25 total Mana Sources

4 Dark Confidant
4 Kird Ape
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Skyshroud Elite
4 Gorilla Shaman

20 total Creatures

3 Sphere of Resistance
4 Thorn of Amethyst
4 Rootmaze
4 Rancor

15 total other cards...

This list is quick but uses cheap disruption to slow down your opponent hopefully you can use this to help apply ideas using just M10 cards...

Do you intend on playing Vintage or Standard type tournaments? If you're used to Yu-Gi-Oh, then Vintage is almost the equivalent of the Traditional format. Lmk what you plan on playing.

Oh, then this is the wrong place for you. The 'Type 1' in front of this sub-section means Vintage. Go to the 'Standard' sub-section, and check out the 'Gruul in Standard' thread (R/G), or just post a new thread asking for help.

Your deck is all new cards.... and will be much much outclassed in vintage.... standard the way to go, unless u willing to spent alot of money on MTG
