I thought it was a joke. Its mostly people who wear piercings, heavy necklaces, chains, all black, an evil effect of somewhat. Also they listen to scary music. But just because your Gothic doesnt mean thats any lower standard or anything if this topic is trying to prove wrong.
Gosh, did you really not know what gothic was? i totally thought it was a joke. thats scary you didnt know.

Whats wrong with being called Gothic? Is it supposed to be offensive or something? Thats called being insecure about yourself ;)
If your gonna dress like a certain group of people. And listen to stuff like a certain group of people. And make it obvious. Be prepared to be called something that has something to do with that group. Stereotyping is never going to end.

Yeah, but, whats so offensive about calling someone gothic when you are clearly acting like one. Its not like its something bad, its just something you are.
Maybe its because i dont like stereotyping effect me at all because i dont care about it. If someone wants to call someone else something, then whatever, it doesnt change the actual person at all.
edit - and if someone doesnt like it, then they can explain themselves that they dont like that. or whatever.

it seems that most of your answers point to you wanting ppl to say that type of person is goth, you should have one that says "no i dont think that means they are goth" or something like that. i wear all black and listen to that kind of music and im not goth, my friend who listens to some band i cant remember the name he wears all sorts of colors and he is goth. so i would tell you to stick this poll up your **PROHIBITED**

If someone judges someone else by their clothes, theyre being human. Humans are always thinking and wondering about other people, and if that person doesnt tell you anything then you just wonder what they are by their appearance. I dont see anything wrong with that.. maybe its because i dont blind it from allowing me to meet the person to see if they are truly a good or bad person.
edit - by good or bad i mean someone who i can become friends with based on if they have a compatible personality wth me or not.

"Don't juge a book by its cover"
BAH what an anoying cliche. How else are you going to juge the books you haven't opend? huh? You don't have time to open every book and you need a way to decide what ones you are going to open. The outside dosen't allways correspond to what is inside but its definatly better then INI-MINI-MINEY-MO.
BTW Slipknot, Korn and other pop-rap-trash bands are NOT Gothic. Lacuna Coil is gothic, Lacrimosa is gothic...
Anyway people that dress in black with spikes and chains and **** are mostly just posers looking for attention.
One more thing, don't use "ignorant" as an insult, everyone is ignorant of somthing. Maybe you are trying to be trendy and insult anyone that dosen't conform to your stupid cliche. Someone that juges someone based on their cloths is not ignorant, they may be makeing a good desicion or a bad one but its their desicion to make and its their right to make it.

I agree. THat's like saying that all people who wear Ae'ropostale are preps, and I am no prep, but my parents won't stop buying them. Gosh...
And I dated a goth once... it was a bit... scary...
But you just can't judge them by their covers. My ex was a goth who wore only pink until she got her tongue pierced.

the question is if sum1 wears all black(sum days)and wears a slipknot shirt and listens to slipknot/lamb of god /maybe marilyn manson are they thought of as gothic?Depends who you ask.;) I personally would say no because there is not much use to applying a generic label like "gothic" to adequately describe someone.
Clothing and appearance generally provides clues about a person's character but I think most would agree that it tells an incomplete picture.

clothing can tell u alot about a person it really can, does it tell u everything? id say no, but nevertheless it does say quite a bit about you in comparison as its cloth.
