Burning Inquiry :r:
Sorcery
Each player draws 3 cards, then discards 3 cards at random.
Jariad burned the midnight oil, burned through scroll after scroll, and then burned down his laboratory.
Common
So I'm not kidding here, but if I had to take a bet right now on which card in M10 would be banned a year from now I'd think this mini-Wheel. Turn 1 this is big news: why would you mulligan when you can
A) get half a new hand
B) have a fair chance of screwing over the opponent's hand?
And, just for fun, this + Megrim = 6 damage to each opponent. :D

This card also makes a deck based around Unearth a little more viable. If one of the 3 cards you discard at random is a hellspark elemental, ravenous rats, fatestitcher, or sedraxis specter to name a few you're set up for a great turn 2.
Being able to get 6 cards in players graveyards on turn 1 is huge.

Just hope you don't run into a deck packing wilt-leaf lieges... Turn 0 get 1 or more lieges into play? Game over...
Another thought, fun in extended in GR... Turn 1 this, pray you don't pitch your Tarmogoyf, turn 2 Goyf with 7 cards in the yard. Wheee.

not to mention Extractor Demon. a turn 3 5/5 flying haster that can cause your graveyard(or theirs) to fill up even more/faster. I might have to look into this concept a little. This seems to have some potential.

somebody is going to break this card. I was recentally coming up with deck with card with somebody else regaurding it Im interested to see how it might play test it seems so far to be a nightmare for control decks, and can kill turn 5 which is good in this standard format.

You only get that flyer for 1 turn since you unearthed it, so its ability is probably hardly relevant. Swinging for 5 in the air turn 3 would be solid, but it does nothing for your board position.

I think this is a very interesting card as well. As much for its ability to ruin sculpted hands as for graveyard shenanigans though perhaps that is more important in some of the larger formats than it is for standard, since the "true" control deck is quickly going the way of the dinosaur (pending the start of Zendikar spoilers ;)).

Still far more significant than the one in the post I quoted. 5 in the air does a lot more than hellspark's 3 on the ground. And in a deck that will probably be designed to care a lot about graveyards, I wouldn't discount that ability's usefulness even for only one turn.
Edit: Just a scary side-thought, but it was said that Zendikar would see the return of an old favorite mechanic. On the off chance that they bring back madness...

turn 1 careful study, turn 2 Burning Inquiry. I'm buying leylines now.
