Heh, might as well put my two cents in.
I hate Twilight, both the book series and the movie.
The story composition reminded me of a 16 year old's on a massively used fan fiction site.
Had the author worked on it a bit more, maybe just maybe!...I'd be alot easier on it, but no. Sparkly vampires do not sit well with me.
I love classic vampires like Vlad the Impaler, and Anne Rice's depictions of Lestat, Marius, and Akasha...
*has a moment of silence for the late Aaliyah, aka Akasha in Queen of the Damned*
No sparkly vampires there. Sparkly clothing yes, but Crispy Critters in sunlight. XD
And secondly, the movie casting was horrific. They should've gotten some better actors.
My mother was ranting and raving over that when she rented it.
Yes, my 39 year old mother is a Twilight Fan. I sat there hooting and hollering with her about how bad the acting was XD Best mother-daughter movie night in history.
I'm split with the Harry Potter series, though. I was a Potter child when The Philosopher's Stone came out, and I thought it was the greatest thing ever!
And then...the movies came out.
Have respect for the books. Hate the movies.
They took Peeve's away :( Peeve's is awesome.
Overall, Harry Potter is far more surperior. They can Avada kadavra them sparkleh vamps away into oblivion!

Harry Potter was much more entertaining for me. So I vote for Harry Potter. Besides, Twilight is more for girls in my opinion.

Sparkly vampires do not sit well with me.
Same here.
I can honestly say that Count Chocula and the Count from Sesame Street are more vampiric than the Twilight "vampires".

The Harry Potter are longer than the Twilight series and were easier to get into then the Twilight Series, although I will say New Moon Hooked me and kept me up til 3 O' Clock in the morning.
Blitz: I would hope so. They are middle school level...

also, the new harry potter movie is the best one yet, easily. puts it even further over Twilight which doesn't stand a chance. Besides all Twilight is good for is the gossip about the lead actors in magazines that they sell at the cash registers of supermarkets

Twilight for sure! I love the series-books anyway. The Film was pretty bad.
Cheers!

I would have to say harry potter but mind you I was in their target age group when the first was released(12-14) twilight is not my thing and I have read to book 3 but I wasn't into the first 2 much(wanted to see if there was some serious gore or something, find the reason why ppl like it.)

Sparkly vampires do not sit well with me.
Hmmm this is why people have bad opinions. :\
They also bring up the little tiny thing that doesn't have anything to really do with the series. It was her own little twist on Vampires being out in the daylight. Notice she is a teen and has her own fantasies. If it was more legit such as they got burnt by the sun, the series would have been a complete flop imo. Let alone the "sparklyness" is brought up how many times in the book? Not often enough to be a problem. The only reason mention the "sparklyness" is because they saw the movie or heard about it. The movie made the sparklyness really gay to me, but it didn't phase me. I have the sense to look past such a little thing and look at the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, the movie sucked, but the books were really good. Guess I'm just a lot more open-minded....probably why I watch stuff from Secret Life of an American Teenager to America's Best Dance Crew to anime to UFC to cartoons.
Yea long wall of text. :\
I have never read the Harry Potter books nor do I plan to. Too long for something I don't like that much. :\

In all honesty. Both where suefests, poorly written, underdeveloped, and pretty bad books.
But harry potter can pass as an average book, that is somewhat fun to read. And has red head brits. And Red heads, and brits are both cool, combining them is win.
Now twilight, awfully written, a romance based on "she smells good and he is hot." and it never once uses any way to describe personality, except for alice nad jacob. The series is like a bad fanfiction and or sex fantasy. And quite stupid.
So i vote the lesser of two evils. HP. Hands down.

Harry Potter, hands down. The Movies were okay, but I haven't seen or read twilight so I may be a bit biased.

Harry Potter all the way. Bella Swann, IMO, is one of the most annoying fictional characters in literary history.
However, i will admit that i did enjoy Breaking Dawn a lot. Probably the best book in the series.

Hmm... Simplistic, naive, family-orientated kiddies' fantasy or peppy, mysogynistic, sickeningly gooey, barely-horror-at-all, read-this-if-you're-a-shallow-teenage-girl gothic romance?
However, both are irritatingly engaging. The annoying thing about Twilight, for me, was what it could have been - darker, more conflicted and definitely less boy-meets-girl, happily-ever-after, stereotypical drippy romance.
I agree with TribalElfMage; I would pay money to punch Bella in the face and tell her to stop being so pathetic. Seriously, she's not the one that does the hard stuff or makes difficult choices, and she's cleary supposed to be quite a strong-willed, independent character, but she just ends up being a typical weak and dithery powerless-female-lead.
I hated the film of Twilight, but I probably prefer the saga itself to Harry Potter because the first 200 or 250 pages of Twilight and all but the first 100 in Breaking Dawn were actually quite good.
But I do prefer something more urban - Mortal Instruments, maybe; at least that had believable characters, even if it wasn't quite dark enough for my taste.

Didn't read twilight, how about Eragon? movie was horrible but the books were good. Harry Potter was okay but i didn't think the ending was good at all and i was confused about the part at the end where he took malfoys wand or something so he brought it back to him or whatever-it confused me.
Redeyes15 LOL at avatar that is funny.

Yay we get to pick our poison in this poll..........Lovely:)
Any way im sorry but in my opinion not picking either is the only way to really win.Im sorry if your a Twilight fan but i couldnt stand the books or the movie (im not narrow minded i read all the books giving them the chance to get better.........they didnt) it may just be my expectations but i expect a vampire movie to be much darker i could handle the love stuff since vampire usually do that to humans (make humans fall in love with them some how) but GOOD vampires make up for it by biting people and Being owned by the sun........not playing baseball and sparkling,On the bright side the movie had some attractive females:P
And to be fair harry potter is not much better so i apologise to any potter fans but come on each book has more pages then enire series of books if that wasen't enough to discourage you they have a terrible habit of forgetting to mention something important until the event actualy happens. The movies i guess where okay so i would go with potter considering the other option...
All in all it boils down to personal prefrance i'll support Harry potter (Because spellcasters rule, nothing more) over watered down vampires.......If your gonna water down a vampire use holy water at least watching the vampire die will be more interesting then the twilight series:)
